Mickey's Halloween Party on first night?

We are going doen to Disney Set 16th - Sept 24th - We are either driving or taking the auto train - so we will be there the morning of the 16th. Would you go to Mickey's Not SoScary Halloween Party your first night? I am thinking it would be a good way to start the trip. Any thoughts?

Two trips ago, we did the party the day we got in. We flew and checked in to AKL, then tried to rest until party time. It was alot of fun but very tiring. The next day it was a little hard to wake up.

Last Sept, we went to MNSSHP on our first night b/c it was the only night the party was going on while we were there. We had to wake up around 5:00AM that morning to catch our flight. We got to POP around noon and then swam for a little while then went to the room to take naps b/c the party was from 7 - midnight. My little one fell asleep so she was fine. I couldn't fall asleep so I was soooo tired at MNSSHP that we made it until 11:00 or so and I couldn't walk anymore.

So, I guess it depends on what time you have to get up that morning. If you have to get up super early, I would go another night if it is an option.

I would agree that it depends on your travel plans that day and your kids ages. We went on our first night a few years ago and had early flights. We had planned on resting in the room before the party, but our rooms were not ready until 5.....so no resting. By 7, the line to get in was long and the younger kids were all crying and tired. Once we got in, they only lasted 2 hours and we had to head back. If you kids are older, then it might not be so bad.
