Mickey's face is up!

Why the change of taking Mickey off of screamin? I enjoy that part of the ride.

Since the re-theme is going to be more of a victorian (1920s) look, I'm sure they wanted to make sure that any modern looking style was removed and the old Mickey head on CS definetly had a modern look to it IMHO.

I like the swap. The new Mickey on the wheel definetly has a classic look to it (Not just in the era of the design but the Tin toy appearance it seems to have as well that is very vintage). It already looks more Disney to me at DCA. :earsboy:

dangermouse, i am with you. i do not love the change/swap of the mickeys on CS and Wheel O' Death. New Mickey on Wheel O'Death is WAY too garish and CS changes - they just don't look right - like Paradise Pier sign is too small and now the loop seems really undefined. I don't know what to say - exept I am a Virgo and I don't like change!

I'm pretty sure they are calling it "Mickey's Wheel of Death" or "Mickey's Wheel of Perpetual Torture". :scared1:

I agree! I've always called it the "Balancing Buckets of Beelzabub" or simply, the "Hell Wheel".:scared: Putting a cute mouse face on it doesn't make it any less evil!

Also, I really wish they would leave the entrance alone!

I'm out of the loop. What is going on with the retheming? Is it going on right now? We'll be there in July, will it be over by then? Thanks!

It is an ongoing project to make the pier and boardwalk more like a Victorian era and early 20th century amusement park. They are touching up San Francisco and moving the bathroom there. The wharf will stay the same but hey did work on the wood floor of the bridge from the pier. They will do interior changes like turning the Lucky Fortune Cookie restaurant into another restaurant which may be open when you are there.

For July you can expect an empty lake, the beginning of the demolition of the bathroom and Golden Dreams theater, and possibly more retheming of the south side of boardwalk. It looks like everything will be open and you will have lots of fun. The whole project does not end until 2012 at least.

This is an easy to follow overview of the DCA changes. There are other sites with info but I find that one to be easiest to use.

I think the Mickey face looks tacky also...too cheap carnival like. The sun face had a vintage look and gorgeous in the morning when the sun shines on it. I wish I could paste my screensaver of it....but I don't know how to do that.

Yeah im in agreement... Im not digging the new Mickey Face... I already miss the sun. Its not as tacky. I am just hoping that when they are finished with all the other renovations that it will tie in a bit more.

I may be one of the minorities here, but I liked DCA just the way it was. Even though there are some rides there that are at WDW (TOT & Soarin'), overall it was a total 180 from any other Disney park. My favorite part was CS Mickey head. That Mickey head on the sun wheel is WAY, WAY, WAY too tacky.

I love the new Mickey face on the Wheel of Terror. I don't think it looks tacky at all, in fact I thought the sun and the general look of this carnival ride left a lot to be desired. Once they unveil the cars and the scaffolding comes down, I think you will see a very colorful, very Disney look. Now when they start unpeeling that ugly orange, I know we are on our way to a better DCA.

I like the giant orange! I'm excited to see what the new swings will look like but I will miss the orange. I like that it has an orange peel texture and isn't just flat.

I agree about the Mickey face though. It actually looks better than I thought it would and I can't wait to see waht the cars look like.

I personally haven't been yet (my first trip will be in June) so Idk how I will feel now that the sun is gone, but I think the Mickey is ok. However, I preferred the way the sun looked better.:confused3
