Mickey's face is up!

The bridge is definetly going away and as a Bay Area Native, I'm also sad to see it go but the pictures of the re-theme look soooo much better then the way it is now so I'll definetly be able to live with the change. :)

Yes, it is going to look nice, but perhaps they should call it Disney Los Angeles Adventure? ;)

Agreed! It will be sad to see it go as no one really likes that much change, but at the same time I have to agree that it does look like a cheap version and with the remodel the park will look most incredible.

I think the Mickey face is a bit over the top, but I guess I just have to get used to it. I like the fact that they're trying to class up the pier by remodeling it in a more Victorian style, but I don't like the fact that they're basically turning it into Victorian style Toontown.

It's vintage. I like it. But can't see too much of the whole grand scheme. So I'm gonna wait until they're done with the whole shabang.

I'm all for the changes, I think it gives the area more of a 'Disneyesque' feel to it. I'm also partial to the pie-eyed Mickey face, though.

I like the Mickey face. It's much more fresh than the old sun.

I'm pretty sure they are calling it "Mickey's Wheel of Death" or "Mickey's Wheel of Perpetual Torture". :scared1:

I really like the ride and have fun on those swinging gondolas. It's just not scary to me, so I always :rotfl:when everyone else talks about hating it!

LOL! Here is a picture that was posted on another site

Meh, I liked it better before. I kinda think the huge Mickey face is (dare I say it?) tacky. <<runs and ducks for cover>>.

I think it will look better once they've rethemed the whole park.

I'm sad to see the California theming go as I love my state and am proud of it, but I think the changes are a good move.

I definitely miss the Mickey from Screamin :( ...buuuuut, I do like this Mickey, too. It reminds me of watching the cartoons from when I was little, yay! ::MickeyMo

Or "Mickey's Vomit Wheel"

I don't think it would be a good idea to link the iconic Mickey Mouse to vomit like that. "Vomit Wheel" may be a good name, but if they use it they should say that the mouse on the wheel is actually Mickey's brother, Ralph.

Does anyone know when the wheel will reopen? I have wanted to ride it but it's always been closed when I've gone. I'm hoping it will be up and running for June.

The first week of May is supposed to be when the wheel is up and running again.

I'm not against the retheming of DCA as a whole. I am super excited for it, and think it NEEDS to happen. I just think they should have left the Sun Wheel and Screamin' alone. The money used in changing the Mickey Heads is just ridiculous when it could have been put to much better use elsewhere. I liked the subtleness of the Mickey Head loop on Screamin'. This one on the Wheel just looks loud and garish. I mean, could you imagine a huge Mickey like that over in DL? It seems so out of place. Maybe once they peel the Orange and switch over Mulholland Madness it will help, but right now it just seems much too "in your face". KWIM?

I agree! It screams Tacky. I loved when Mickey was on screamin' much better. It photographed so well too...<sigh>

I don't mind some re-theming but why essentially duplicate the front enterance of Disney Studios at WDW? DS enterance at WDW is a replica of the old Pan-Pacific building in Los Angeles (burned down in 1989). Photos I have seen of the California Adventures re-theming plans are also a replica of the Pan-Pacific. Is California Adventure turning into Disney Studios?

I think what the big push for the retheming, is to make the park look like the California of the 20's, when Walt first arrived in California. Probably why the entrance is going to look very much like DS in WDW.

Why the change of taking Mickey off of screamin? I enjoy that part of the ride.

I guess they thought it would be too many Mickey Heads and wouldn't look right visually. I wasn't sure about this, but I like the vintage Mickey. It looks good! :thumbsup2 But looks can be deceiving, not even Mickey Mouse could get me to go on that thing! :rotfl:
