Mickey's Backyard BBQ?

What can you fellow DISers tell me about Mickey's Backyard BBQ?
What food is served? What is the drink situation like? My next trip is Aug. 30th- Sept. 6th. Is it too much food and too hot out to be enjoyable this time of year?

I took my DGD in August. She was almost 5 at the time. It was hot, but it was hot everywhere, the BBQ was no exception. The food was okay, there was plenty if it and it was replenished as needed. There were a lot of kids, all wanting to dance with the characters. You do need to get there early to score a seat near the center where the characters dance. My DGD was fine until she got pushed and then she was done. It was rather chaotic and that atmosphere was not for her. We ended up leaving so that she could play in the play yard. The wine was house wine. I did not have a beer.

If your family likes activities that seem to be chaotic, even if it is organized chaos it can be fun. My DGD was not comfortable so we did not think it was worth our money.

It would be me and my bf going,,thought it seemed fun, but after a long day of hitting the parks, I think we might stick to an a/c dinner off our feet and out of the chaos...Thanks for the info!

As 2 adults going I would suggest Hoop-Dee-Doo if you haven't been there yet. The food is similar to the BBQ and it's sit down and relax. My mom and I did the BBQ in 2006 and it was fun but I was glad it was included in our plan. In Oct '08 we will hit HDD and the Luau but won't go back to the BBQ. If I had kids I would go in a heartbeat. It is a great meal for the kids but as two adults we didn't enjoy it the same way.

Hadn't even thought about the Hoop de Hoo or the Luau,,,I think I might like them alot better! Thanks !

My dh and I have always wanted to do the BBQ but it is seasonal so there isn't one in Feb and we get bummed.
