Too long? Enough to hold their attention or wait until they're older?

I've never done the BBQ, but I think I would rather do the Disney Junior play and dine at Hollywood and Vine or a character meal at Tusker House. It's just the right amount of entertainment and one on one interaction for that age

I second the Disney Junior play and dine. We took my grandbabies, 18 mos and 3 a year ago and they loved it. The characters come to each table and they do a song and the kids are allowed to get up and dance with the characters.

It's not quite the same, but we did Hoop De Doo and my almost-4-yr old ended up playing on a cell phone because she thought it was so boring and the 1 yr old fell asleep. It made the show not quite as fun as I had hoped. Adults had a decent time, but given how expensive it was, I would have rather saved it for a later trip and done another character meal.

I had heard kids would love it, but not mine. I think it just varies. If it's something YOU want to do, then bring the kids - if they like it great! if not - have backup entertainment. :)

It's PERFECT for those ages.
There's a show, but you don't have to sit and pay attention to it (unlike Hoop de doo). Plenty of room to run around, unlimited Mickey bars, and you get to dance with the characters. It's about a million times better than more traditional character meals for the toddler/preschool set.
Going with my DS when he was 1.5 is one of my all time favorite Disney memories.

We did this show on our first trip in 2012. Our youngest was almost exactly 18 months, and our other kids were 8, 10 and 11. They ALL loved it! Our LO had, shortly before the trip, decided that Mickey was the greatest thing on earth! The food is very family-friendly, the kids get to blow steam by dancing with the characters--can't beat it! We're going back this summer and this is a "must do" for us!
