Mickey's Backyard BBQ--bad weather question

I believe Mickey's Backyard BBQ is not a rain or shine event, right? If so, what do you experts recommend as a backup plan if it is cancelled? My family is visiting during free dining and so we all know that last minute reservation changes will be difficult to come by. AND...I'd hate to lose the two table credits. Lastly...my parents are coming with us for the first few days. They are not Disney fans but want to experience the magic with their granddaughters...I want everything to go smoothly.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I would skip the Backyard BBQ...don't think it's worth the 2 TS credits, or the chance of being cancelled for weather (it will be very difficult to find an indoor TS venue at the last minute...you & everyone else who was cancelled will be looking at the same already-full places.) Better to just have TS set up at all indoor locations.

Does anyone know what their guidelines are for cancelling. Do they cancel if it gets to cold or does it have to rain. We are doing this with our ddp in December. We have not heard to many good reviews but figured we would give it a try.

I didn't realize it could be cancelled due to weather. But I guess being outside it does make sense. We are going to the BBQ our first night in WDW (it is our first trip). Like most places I have read raves and I have read rants. Guess it depends on your taste & the night you are there.

If we get to our resort and it is raining, will we be able to find out from the concierge if it has been cancelled? We are doing the DDP, but they require a CC for a guarantee. I want to make sure we do it right so we don't get charged by not showing up just assuming it was cancelled.

I talked to my husband about doing something else, but we are going to stick with it. If it is cancelled, we'll just opt for room service and get an early start the next day on our vacation. :)

I just booked the Backyard BBQ as well, figuring it is something new to try and hoping that we can take the kids to the campfire/marshmallow roast/movie afterward, since we will already be at Fort Wilderness. Since this is a prepaid reservation (we're not doing the DDP), if it IS cancelled, will I get my money back? I don't particularly care if we can find another restaurant...counter service is just fine by us. I just want to know if I am rising losing any money if there is indeed rain.
