Polygirl, ears are gotten in the actual theme parks. Black ears are given to you if you create a character on one of the machines while in that place's VMK location (Disneyland has one somewhere, and the WDW one is on Main Street, in the Cinema). Gold ears are also in-park things. At WDW, I believe they give you a card with a code for them if you buy a hat at Le Chapeau, the hat store on Main Street. If you want black ears and can't get to the parks, many DISers who can get to the parks get extras by creating more characters and then donate them to those who can't get to the World or CA. If you want gold ears, you'll have to trade for them or get them in the park by buying a real hat. Have fun in VMK!
