I have seen Spaceship Earth with and without the wand. It was nice before and just ok (IMHO) with the wand, so I'm not sad to see it go. Maybe something else will come in its place.
I try not to "get set in my ways" about much in life. The only sure thing in life is that there will be change.
Now as for the Leave a Legacy stones, they are ugly. But then again, I look at them as serving a purpose as a way to protect the entrance to Epcot.
How will I know that I'm in Epcot without the big sign on Spaceship Earth? I may forget and think that I'm in Animal Kingdom and ask a CM when the last safari departs.
I love that arm, but I have pictures for memories, I can't wait to see what is going to be going in it's place, or even if there is nothing I appreciate the good ol golf ball.
I dislike the location of the Sorcerer's Hat at MGM much more than the wand at Epcot. I'm okay with the wand there or not there but that hat totally blocks the view that was meant to be seen when the park was designed. I don't want it done away with totally but it needs to be moved somewhere else.
Aw, I'm sure lots of people feel that way. But I was really upset when they left the darned thing up. I think the wand is really ugly, and the geosphere is beautiful by itself, especially at night. It's how I remember it when I first saw it pre-opening in the summer of 1982 and on our first real visit to EPCOT Center in 1983.
I actually like the Epcot wand myself, but from a purist sense.....
Now, if they could only remove the Sorcerer Mickey's hat from MGM studios, one could have a classic view of the main entrance (Hollywood Blvd?) to MGM without the commercial clutter.....

I agree. If they placed it at the entrance as a shop/guest services desk, that wouldn't bother me. It fits in with the glitz of Hollywood to have it in the park, but right now it blocks the nice view of the Chinese Theater.
The wand just looks like a big cheap tchotchke on a gorgeous modern structure.
