Once again I was up at 7:30 and about an hour later we were on our way to breakfast at Steak 'n Shake. Dad had the Portobello 'n Sausage skillet (scrambled eggs with grilled portobello mushrooms, sausage crumbles, caramelised onions and Swiss & cheddar cheeses served on top of shredded hash browns) and I had the Cheddar Scrambler (scrambled eggs with shredded cheddar cheese, premium sausage crumbles and grilled onions). We both chose toast as the included side dish and had a coffee each and the whole lot came to $14.83.

After breakfast we went round to Downtown Disney to do some shopping.

Then we went to the pin shop.

And finally to the Christmas shop.

In all we spent about $422! After our shopping we wandered up to Characters in Flight but it wasn't running due to the weather conditions (although there was only a slight breeze on the ground) so we stopped off at Wetzels Pretzels for a frozen strawberry lemonade each.

From there we drove round to Saratoga Springs as their gift shop normally has a good range of DVC merchandise and then we went round to Fort Wilderness to get an idea of how long it would take us to get to the meeting point for our Segway tour tomorrow.

From Fort Wilderness we went up to the Wal-Mart on Turkey Lake Road to top up our supplies and then went back to BWV, getting back at about 2:30.

At about 5:00 we went out again and made our way over to Animal Kingdom Lodge for our 6:00 ADR at Boma. Once we got there we had a quick look around the gift shop then checked in for our ADR at 5:45 with the pager we were given going off almost straight away.

We started off with a couple of bowls of soup each - I had mulligatawny followed by black eyed pea and ham and Dad had peanut soup followed by mulligatawny. We then had various bits and pieces from the buffet, including Durban spiced chicken, stewed tomatoes and spiced pasta and then we had various desserts.

After our meal we drove over to Kidani Village, which is our home DVC resort although we hadn't seen it before because it was still being built when we were last here. Although it was raining the parking at Kidani Village is all under the building so we parked up and went up to the lobby to have a look around.

We then went back to the car and back to BWV where we stopped off in the Belle Vue lounge for a Tennessee Honey each before going back to the room at about 8:00. We had to settle for watching Illuminations through the window again and were in bed by our usual time ready for an early start and late finish tomorrow - Segway tour at Fort Wilderness at 8:30 a.m and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.

Day 7

Breakfast sounds good, was it reasonable price? Plus where is it? thanks

Enjoying your trip report:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I haven't got a note of exactly how much breakfast was but it was somewhere between $15 and $20 for the two of us. It's on Vineland Road just up the road from Crossroads of Lake Buena Vista near Downtown Disney.

Glad you're enjoying it so far. :goodvibes

Love the 40th Anniversary Merch. I've got the 40th Messenger Bag myself and it's pretty much glued to my hip. :)

You've given us so much on which to comment in this installment and yet the thing that goes straight to the top of the list is--(I almost put this next part in caps to indicate I'm screaming, but that seemed rude, so I'll just make the letters bold) They're putting a bowling alley in the old Virgin building?!!!! I suppose Disney is going to promote this as a healthy, exercise option alternative to the theme parks, but come on--bowling?! That's the "sport" where every 10 minutes it's your turn to take 4 steps and roll a ball then go back and sit down and drink beer until your next turn. Actually thinking about it, Splitsville ought to be a big hit.

Hi David

Loved all of yours and your dad's WDW purchase's with 40 on:thumbsup2

As I was 40 (:scared1:) in Feb (yes I no I dont look a day over 21 :rotfl2::rotfl2:), would love to have a little keepsake for myself, do you think any of these would still be available is December when we go???

Really sorry you didnt get to do FOF, hope get to do it another time:banana:

Yes they are. From what I've heard though Splitsville has a dress code in the evening and becomes more 'adult orientated' as the night goes on so I'm not sure how that is going to fit in?:confused3

I'm sure they will still have some of the 40th stuff around in December, although it might be my imagination but it did seem to take more of a back seat after the 1st October celebration.

Stay tuned re COF. ;)

Blimey David, you and Ray sure know how to shop, good on you, some fabulous things there. I quite like the idea of bowling being there, its the one thing that Im pretty good at:rotfl2:
