"Mickey Isn't the Only Animal At WDW!" Hunting for Disney Critters 1/23/12-1/30/12

Flametree BBQ is a great QS in Animal Kingdom. For a TS you could do Tusker House, or take a bus to AKL and try Boma for a late breakfast. I've heard it's great! Also I think the Rainforest Cafe at AK *may* take the dining plan, so it's another option.

For your HS hopping to Epcot day, why not try someplace at an Epcot resort, on your way from HS?

I agree on Boma for breakfast. We liked it so much we did it twice last trip. Maybe you could go before AK opens (if you're trying to make rope drop) and fill up, then just grab-and-go at AK for lunch that day.

Kira, looking at your schedule, I will be at Epcot in the evening on the 27th and at the MNK in the evening of the 29th...so perhaps we will run into each other.

Have you ever done Rose & Crown at Epcot? We really like it there. We used to like Biergarten, but we felt the food quality went down when we ate there last year.

For the Studios, I would suggest Sci Fi or Mama Melrose. We've always had good meals at Mama Melrose and although not oustanding food, Sci Fi does have great onion rings and shakes and a cool atmosphere.

My family has tried Rose and Crown before. It looks yummy but I don't know if Josh would like it very much.

It would be really cool to run into you!

Noooooooooooooooooo! Change your dates to be there when I'm there! Then I'd get to meet everyone but Zach! Maybe push your dates up a few days so you get to see me and Kathy?:rolleyes1

Aww! I'm sorry! I don't think I can change my dates. I already requested that time off for work :sad1: But we both go so often, I am sure we will run into each other next time

Checking in! Ready and waiting to hear about the fun trip you and Josh will have! I so love your animal reporting - I can't wait to look for them to show my boys (without touching because they aren't as gentle as you are nor is there anyway I could remember which to touch and which not... :goodvibes)

That is why I bring along my own herpetologist :lmao:. There are some snakes around there that I certainly wouldn't touch (Cottonmouths, anyone?). And he is good at reminding me not to rub my eyes or mouth after handling the more toxic toads (although I am pretty good at washing my hands after handling animals, it doesn't hurt to have a buddy remind me :lmao:).

So is Boma tasty for dinner? I booked a dinner ADR on the same day we plan on eating EOS for "dinner". The plan is to have a super late lunch at 4:45, then spend some time in DTD. EOS is open late (I think it was open until 12am the last time we were there). So we can eat a super late dinner. If EOS isn't open really late, we can always pick up the sandwich and eat it later.

I agree on Boma for breakfast. We liked it so much we did it twice last trip. Maybe you could go before AK opens (if you're trying to make rope drop) and fill up, then just grab-and-go at AK for lunch that day.

Josh isn't a big breakfast person. He would rather grab a pastry and go-go-go in the parks until it is time for lunch. I don't mind having a light breakfast on park days.

Plus, it is such a pain to get to a different resort for a breakfast. I would have to take a bus to a park, then take a bus to the desired resort for breakfast. We would end up getting to the park much later in the morning than I usually like (I prefer to make it to RD).

So I booked the rest of our ADRS. Here is our new schedule.

Your ADR plan looks great! I haven't tried Boma personally, but I've read many great things about it. I suggest browsing around the restaurant review forum to get more info on it.

Sorry it has been so long! Work has been crazy. I had to work 7 days straight because of the holidays. I got thanksgiving and black friday off, though :goodvibes.

So did everyone have a good thanksgiving and black friday? Did anyone get any good deals or see any interesting things?

Here is my recap of what we did on black friday.

My mom and I went out together at 10pm yesterday to go to Walmart. It was absolute chaos. Things weren't marked very well. People brought their kids. There was a huge line around the store to check out for ONE REGISTER while the other registers had reasonable lines. Aaaand to top it off, a lot of people were REALLY gassy. It smelled so bad!

I managed to get a few decent deals. I bought Josh a bunch of DVDs at 1.96 a piece. I also a tv box set for 10. I also bought myself a pair of eeyore pj pants ($6) and a mini food chopper ($2 I think).

We got done with walmart around midnight. We should have stopped there, but we wanted to try to get that stupid camera for free at Old Navy. So we got in line there and waited an HOUR to get in, only to find that they were out (no surprise there) and the line was three hours long to check out (big surprise). So. Not. Worth. It. So we skipped it and went to target.

After that we went to target, where I bought a $10 movie for myself and an HDMI cable because DH bought a PS3 bundle at a different target for $200 (and we needed an HDMI cable to hook it up). The cable is normally 30, but I got it for 10. Yay :) But we had to wait in line for a whole hour to check out. And we had to listen to this employee scream "The END of the LINE to check OUT is HERE" over and over again with the exact same tone. I was surprised no one stuffed a discounted sock in her mouth :lmao:.

We didn't get home until 3am. I thought we were done, but my mom woke me up at 8am to go to Fred Meyer. I barely got anything. I bought 1 sweater for myself (12 instead of 30). Then we went to K-mart and I got a pair of mickey pj bottoms for Josh ($10 instead of $15) and an eeyore sweatshirt (also $10) for myself.

I need to post pictures of the sweatshirt and pj bottoms. They are almost the same shade of purple! Soooo cute :)

Anyway, does anyone have any good black friday stories?

Wow, that is crazy! We don't really have any Black Friday sales around here. These past few years stores have started having some sales on this weekend to prevent customers from going to the states, but only during regular store hours. I can't imagine going shopping at 1am AND having to wait one hour in line just to pay!!!

I have always enjoyed the random critters at all the DW resorts! There are so many. Lots of rabbits, too!

No good stories here... I stayed far far away from it this time... :rotfl: But I think we are venturing out today, some, so I will let you know!

However, my dad told me about a lady somewhere who sprayed pepper spray on the random people around her before the doors opened to whatever store they were going into - to give herself an advantage to get ahead of them... :confused3 REALLY??? I haven't googled or watched the news to see if it was a legitimate story or not... :sad2:

We had a good Thanksgiving! I hope you did as well! Your birthday trip is just around the corner!! :woohoo:

That is really interesting! I bet it is nice to avoid all of the craziness!

Me too :goodvibes I love the bunnies!

Wow. I have heard of ladies around here using pepper spray. I wonder if it is a real story.

I can't believe how fast our trip is coming up! I am so used to having a ton of time to prepare. I haven't even started up a ticker yet!

It is finally the holiday season! Is everyone enjoying putting up decorations? I have a few cute Disney christmas decorations this year. I will take pictures and post them soon, along with the pictures of my awesome new eeyore pjs :goodvibes

So we finally booked our airfare! Woohoo! :woohoo: Josh and I are sooo excited to go!

So here is what I need to do before the trip:
Send in airline info for Disney's Magical Express
Start/complete ridemax itinerary
Buy new sneakers for myself
After Christmas: Show mom how to program the heat lamp timers for the critters (if the power goes out for even a second, the clock won't reset itself and the heat lamps won't turn on).

Of course I need to pack and do some pre-vacation chores right before the trip (like cleaning our apartment, feeding the animals, printing out a care sheet for the critters, cleaning the animal cages, and so on). I probably have a few more things I need to buy, too. But since we are so close to our last trip, we have most of the stuff we need. I am kind of freaked out because I don't seem to have a lot to do before the trip. I feel like I am forgetting something...:confused3 I think it is because our last Disney trip required so much planning (not to mention all of the chaos with the wedding). It just feels like I am missing something. Hmmm...

Anyway, that is all I can think of for now. I should have some photos to share pretty soon.

Can't wait to see the photos of your Disney decorations. I'm sure if you are forgetting something it will come to you before you go. I can't believe your trip (which means my trip also) is getting so much closer. :)

Thanks! I have already taken the pictures. I just need to steal DH's laptop to get them on here because my comp doesn't like the HD cards that we put in his camera (HD SC cards aren't compatible with my card reader). And he is really weird about his laptop so it takes some time to convince him that I need to use it :lmao:

Ahhh! We are less than a month and a half away! I bought my sneakers last week. There is one thing I did forget about, though. My contact lenses! I have to go in for a eye doc appointment ASAP so I can order new contact lenses in time for the trip (I am down to one right contact lens :scared1:).

Josh is kind of upset. Kali is supposed to be closed now while we are there. I told him and he said, "Why are we even going, then? It is like my favorite ride!" He was partially joking. But I could tell he was disappointed. I didn't think it was going to be warm enough to ride it, so I don't really care. Those of you that read my honeymoon TR probably remember that I am not a fan of getting wet :rotfl:

I am sad that BTMR is going to be closed. But they don't plan on opening it until May 27th, now. I don't want to go to WDW in the summer again. No, thank you. I am really glad we didn't postpone our trip to March just because of that one ride (it was supposed to open before then but then they changed it).

So for those of you that don't know, my mom is currently at WDW with my dad, my sister, and my youngest brother. They stayed at POP for the first few days, then transferred over to Wilderness Lodge. Today is their first "park" day (they technically went to MK yesterday for the Christmas party, though). I know a lot of you read her TR, so I thought I would give a quick update for her.

Zoe seems to be doing really well. They have encountered a few problems relating to her surgery. My mom accidentally left Zoe's meds on the plane so they had to get new stuff from the pharmacy. But the problem was that the pharmacy didn't take insurance, and Zoe's meds were going to cost a lot of money. So the docs over here wrote a new prescription for something cheaper. Also, poor little Zoe keeps "leaking" out of the foley they put in during her emergency procedure she had done a few days ago. I don't know if they fixed that or not. I do know it caused some problems on the first day. But other than that, Zoe seems to be doing fine.

My mom's tummy is bugging her but she is still enjoying the food. She really liked the tea at the Grand Floridian. She made me want to try it. Something tells me Josh won't like it, though. So I may have to wait until we do another girls' trip :goodvibes

Zoe got all dolled up at the Boutique in DTD yesterday. Here is a picture of her.

Isn't she adorable?

So that is my little mini-update for my mom's trip :goodvibes

That stinks that two of your favorite attractions will be closed in Jan :(

Thanks for the update on Ann and Zoe. I have been thinking about them wondering how things are going. What a beautiful picture of Zoe!!

Just found your PTR, Kira.
Sure I wanna follow along ....... I lurked on your other reports too! :lmao:

Thanks for the update on your Mum's TR, that photo of Zoe is just adoreable!

I know! Isn't she cute? I will post more little updates as I get them. I don't want to post too much about their trip because I don't want to spoil my mom's TR! But I thought everyone who follows her would like to know that Zoe is doing well :goodvibes

I love that picture of zoe! She just looks so happy! My favorite thing I have seen from them so far is an awesome video my dad took of a CM interacting with zoe during the professional photos at BBB. They do such a good job with those kids :goodvibes

Hey Kira! I like your photo of Zoe, by the time I saw her the jewel on her face was on the other side. :lmao: Plus she had a layer of clothes on under her dress.

Maybe you should move your trip up when mine is because both rides will be open for three days when we get there, plus Osborne lights!
