"Mickey Isn't the Only Animal At WDW!" Hunting for Disney Critters 1/23/12-1/30/12

I'm glad you like it. I remember you like butterflies like me. I was so happy it showed up by Christmas! BTW I don't know if your mom told you, but Shelly who your mom met will be down there while you are, so if someone stops you that might be her.

I do love butterflies! If you remember from my PTR, I threw a butterfly-themed luncheon for my bridesmaids. I can't wait until spring so I can bring all of that stuff out again!

Thanks for the heads up about Shelly.

Kira, love the Christmas decorations...especially the Mickey and Minnie Bride and groom.

Thanks :goodvibes

Hiya, Jumping over from your mom and Betsy PTRs/TRs! It's so awesome that your trip is so close now! Bet your getting very excited. My DF has never been to Disney. And I'm a Disney addict! At least your DH gets it! Mine says he wants to wait until we've had all our kids, so he only has to go once... Little does he know if he gets his promotion in the next few months im going to get an AP for our Girls trip October 2013 and make him go with me in August 2014 before our daughter starts school!

So I thought I would make up a little list containing some info about our favorites from last trip, what we are excited to try, and so on. It turns out most of the list is about food :lmao:. I am a little hungry, I guess. Anyways, here it is.

My “Must Try” Food/Drink List
Guava Cream Cheese Cupcake
Tuna at Sunshine Seasons
Pepper Market
Nutella waffle sandwich w/o bannanas
Grand Marnier and/or Grey Goose slushie

Foods Josh is Excited to Eat Again: Nachos in Mexico, Turkey Leg, Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar, Horseradish “smashed” potatoes at Coral (he hasn’t stopped talking about this since our honeymoon:laughing:), EOS (he also won't stop talking about this one)

Itty Bitty Baby Toadlett from our last trip. I wouldn't mind finding one of these again, either.

Hello and Welcome! :wave2:

I am so lucky that my DH responded well to the Disney experience (the first time he went to Disney World was on our honeymoon). I love that my best friend enjoys Disney almost as much as I do :goodvibes! Hopefully your DF will enjoy Disney World after he goes. My DH thought that DW was just another theme park until he actually got to go. Now he loves it :)

Yeah that seems to be his mind on it as well. He went to astroworld every year growing up, and I guess he's comparing it to that..:headache:

Love all the food posts! I haven't tried half those places and have been to the World 26 times now! But then again we normally do Commando CS!

Kira, a little heads up on the Pepper Market. I don't know what meal you are going for, but as of now, they are doing a "trial buffet" for breakfast and lunch. They are supposed to decide around January 6 or so whether they will keep it that way or go back to the other way. The dinner remains the same and is still a counter service on the dining plan.

If you end up going to the Coronado to go to the Pepper Market, tell Josh to have a look in the lake...there have been alligators in the lake before.

That cupcake sounds amazing. So many that I want to try this trip. Red Velvet from Starring Rolls though is my #1!

I'm really excited to eat at Sunshine Seasons this trip!!

WHERE is the nutella waffle sandwich?! THIS SOUNDS AMAZING!

I'm thinking about the Grey Goose slushie; everyone is always raving about it!

The Bailey's Mousse is so tasty! We're skipping Coral Reef this time for a new restaurant, but I definitely enjoyed that dessert!

Foods I am Excited to Eat Again: Nachos in Mexico, Dole Whip Float, Steak & Shrimp at Yak and Yeti, Caramel Corn in Germany, Rice Cream in Germany. I could fill up pages with the foods I am excited to eat again!

I LOVE the CS in Mexico. Those nachos are so tasty (but good lord are they filling; hoping to split that CS with DH this trip!).

My DH wants a turkey leg this time! Last time he never got one and I think was sad about it. :rotfl: Love those Mickey Premium bars! And I have EOS on my "must-do" list for this trip. REALLY excited about it because it looks so good! :lovestruc

New Restaurants that We Are Trying: Boma, Whispering Canyon, Sci Fi (I have been there once but we weren’t on the DDP, Josh has never been).

Whispering Canyon is a blast! We loved it so much on our honeymoon we're doing it again. The atmosphere is too fun and the skillet is delicious (though I've never been so miserably full in my life)!

My Favorite Ride: Everest
Josh’s Favorite Ride: Also Everest.

YES! EE is my faaavorite, too! We rode it last trip 10 times, and I even took video of us in the front (DH hates the front, so I thought it was funny to video tape his reaction. :lmao:) DH's favorite is the Haunted Mansion (which I also love!). :goodvibes

Things We Missed Last Time That We Want To Do: Tiki Room (was closed on our honeymoon), One Man’s Dream (I watched it but Josh fell asleep during the movie), and TSMM (FPs were all distributed last time). Also, we missed the car show and the Indiana stunt show.

I want to do the Tiki Room as well! It was DH's favorite as a kid! TSMM we did once, and I think we're okay skipping it this trip. In our opinion, it's FUN but not worth the stampede/long lines. :confused3

So Sad That They Are Closed: Fantasmic, BTMR, Kali (Josh is sad that it is closed but I don’t really mind), MSEP

It's a bummer! I'm sad about BTMRR and MSEP the most. But I'll take lower crowds!

My Favorite Show: It is a tie between Finding Nemo Musical and the Festival of the Lion King.

Josh’s Favorite Show from last trip: Illuminations.

Mine is definitely Illuminations right now, but I have to admit I've never watched Wishes in its entirety (which will change this trip!).

“Disney Critters” that Josh wants to find: Cottonmouth (I really, really hope we don’t see one of these!), Indigo Snake, or Alligator

“Disney Critters” that I want to see: Another Gecko, Corn Snake.

I'm not a big critter person, but I know I would probably die if I saw a Cottonmouth! Scary! :scared1:

We love Boma's breakfast...a must do almot every trip; love Sci-Fi's theme, onion rings and shakes. We are in the miniority, but we did not like Whispering Canyon -- the skillet was awful, greasy, fatty, etc., and my DH got sick on it. There were also no antics going on the entire 2 hours we were there (yes, 2 hours and we never ordered dessert). It is one of two places we won't go back to (the other being Hollywood & Vine).

Just popping in to say that it is such a bummer about WCC! I would totally be sad if they didn't have all of the fun antics going on while we were there. We were on our honeymoon and they brought us free champagne and had the entire room cheering for us and saying congratulations to us! The kids rode around on their horses, I saw someone get the ketchup stunt pulled on them, etc. Definitely wouldn't be the same without it!

Our skillet was pretty good, though I will say I ate way too much and felt a bit sick afterwards (truly, my own fault :lmao:). Depending on my mood/how I'm feeling/how DH is feeling, I might try something that isn't the skillet.

I loved the buffet when we went. I hope they keep it. It was a great use of a cs credit!

You have to try the peanut butter creme filled brownie at EOS when you go. So good!

In October, we were walking out of Epcot and there were a couple guys (Disney security animal guys) trying to catch a snake. And walking from Contemporary to MK in December there was a Disney animal control lady with a cage and we heard something in the bushes next to us.

Thanks for the heads up on the alligators! I know about the new buffet. I really want to try it! But if the buffet is gone by the time we go, we probably won't go to Coranado

I'm really excited to eat at Sunshine Seasons this trip!!

I can't wait to eat there! I tried the sushi there once and it was pretty good. But I have heard the tuna is to die for!

WHERE is the nutella waffle sandwich?! THIS SOUNDS AMAZING!

I think they are at Sleepy Hollow. They also have a chicken+waffle sandwich!

I LOVE the CS in Mexico. Those nachos are so tasty (but good lord are they filling; hoping to split that CS with DH this trip!).

Dh and I split them last time. It comes with two churros as a dessert. Those are easy to share, too. And very yummy!

Whispering Canyon is a blast! We loved it so much on our honeymoon we're doing it again. The atmosphere is too fun and the skillet is delicious (though I've never been so miserably full in my life)!

I think I may get the steak instead of the skillet. I don't want to get too full

I'm not a big critter person, but I know I would probably die if I saw a Cottonmouth! Scary! :scared1:

Me too! I have seen rattlesnakes here in Washington, but they don't scare me as much as the cottonmouths. Still scary, though.

That's a shame that you didn't like it. I think I may skip out on the skillet and get something a little less...greasy. But I am looking forward to the milk shakes!

I always over eat and make myself feel sick. I try to stay away from fried foods at Disney for this reason. I made myself really, really sick off of the potstickers at Ohana! Free champagne sounds awesome :goodvibes

me too!

Ooooh! Neat! As long as it wasn't venomous. Then it wouldn't be so neat.

So I have been using my free time to make ridemax schedules and go over my packing list. I am so excited! 10 days :woohoo:

So I was talking to DH about "not celebrating" anything on this trip. Technically the trip was a birthday/ Christmas present. Obviously I am not going to wear a birthday button almost four months after my birthday! And since we aren't going around our anniversary, we can't really celebrate that, either. January 15th is our 8-month anniversary btw :goodvibes. So do you think it is weird to go to Disney and "not celebrate" anything? I think we will be celebrating the fact that we are 21 by drinking lots of yummy disney drinks. But they don't have a button for that ;)

On another note, I may be going with my mom to Disney World at the end of this September/beginning of Oct. Josh is going on some big expensive herping trip with his friends at the end of May. So he has "convinced" me go to DW with my mom in the Fall! It was funny because I was already secretly planning on going in the fall, but I hadn't brought it up with Josh yet. Then he calls me up one day and says, "I am going on a trip in May with the guys, so you need to plan a Disney trip with your mom" :lmao:. It was even funnier because the same thing happened with my mom and dad! Dad wanted to go on a trip, so mom gets away with going on another trip. Everybody wins :goodvibes

I love being able to have another Disney trip to look forward to! Plus, if we go in October, I can celebrate my 22nd birthday! Yay :goodvibes

I need to get ready for work. I'll probably be a little more active in the days leading up to our trip. I can't wait! :woohoo:

Mark and I always go in September, but we celebrate our anniversary even though it was in May (May is difficult to do with baseball). I'm hoping I run into you somewhere during the January trip as I think from what I remember of your mom saying, she will be arriving AFTER we leave in September.

I think it's totally fine to go and not celebrate, but I will also say it's okay to celebrate a little bit late! For us, we planned this trip as a one year anniversary of our marriage, even though our anniversary was a little earlier.

We thought it'd be a great way to celebrate our marriage, and so we're going a year to the date that we went to Disney for our honeymoon :goodvibes.

Soooo that being said, I still made sure to say that we are celebrating our anniversary, even though it was technically a few months ago... but there's something about going back a year after your honeymoon that is special, plus we wanted to wait to celebrate in Disney during our favorite time to go! :)

Yes. We should plan a little dismeet :goodvibes.

Sounds fun! Do you think we should say we are celebrating our 1-year anniversary, even though we are a few months away? Or are we going a little too early?

Our wedding anniversary was 4 months ago, so that's where we're at, but we booked our trip a week before our anniversary so it's felt like an anniversary trip from the start.

Either way, I don't see any reason to not celebrate yours a little early! :goodvibes

I don't think you absolutely need to celebrate something when you go to Disney. I think just going to Disney is enough by itself. Plus, even though they don't have a button, I think the fact that it's your first trip after turning 21 is also a good celebration excuse. :)

How fun is it that you get to go to Disney again next fall!!

Just checking in to say I can't believe how quickly your trip has arrived! Love your christmas decor pics, btw!

Hope your new year has started off great and only 9 more days!! :goodvibes

How exciting that you and Ann are getting another trip this year! Is Zoe going?
