Airmiles Armchair Chatter

completely off topic and unrelated to anything discussed here other than the super hot summer we're dealing with in ontario at the moment. I've done a couple of successful experiments in my kitchen. First up fudgsicles that taste just like store bought, resounding hit

followed by chocolate covered ice cream bars that the heat made a real challenge. I couldn't get the chocolate to cool off enough to not melt the ice cream off the sticks!! Still tasted yummy even if they are extremely messy

@tinkerone I think this might be a question for you but anyone that knows, please chime in. Booking a cruise through Costco...do you not get the gift card return on a DCL booking? I was just looking and it only shows the executive member rebate. I'm not executive but maybe I should upgrade???? It's a GTY if that makes any difference.

:rolleyes1 I'm considering taking a last minute trip over Labour day weekend. DH does not want to go but DD does. Unfortunately, no discounts available to DD but the price is quite good. We can do flights via AM for only 1700 miles RT.

Yes, you should get a rebate gift card on your return. If you are Executive then the cost goes towards your year end rebate but that is totally different. You do not need to be Executive to get the gift card upon your return. It should also tell you how much of a gift card you will recieve when you price it out. It's a really good amount which is to be expected since DCL is not cheap.

I'll add more to my previous post. You need to continue through to the point where you pick out your cabin number. You don't need to actually book it, just go to that point. For an example, I just put in a sailing for Sept. 27 with a balcony cabin. It shows at the bottom of the page that I would get back a $495 gift card. It says US however they give you a converted amount so you get a Canadian gift card, just to confuse things. The cost of the cruise I keyed in is $6130 US.
It very simple to do so just go to the room booking, look at the bottom of the page and decide if you want to go that route. We always book cruises this way and have never regretted it. Actually have two placeholders with them now. Wish I could pass them to you because I'm not sure we will use them, but then again, who knows.

I browse the site often and normally it shows right on the first page what the gift card amount is…if one applies. This would be GTY so I’m wondering if that’s why it doesn’t show. Maybe it doesn’t apply. I was even logged in.

Nothing to do with GYT. This is what is showing when I look at it. GYT is the only thing available for ocean view. Gift card shows as $470. ETA, I’m not signed in.

So I went back again and went through to cabin assignment like you said. Now I see it at the bottom. LOL…cheap cruise equals cheap gift card. It’s only $160 but it’s better than nothing. We shall see what the day brings. DD messaged a friend onboard right now and he is going to see if his discount would apply to that sailing. 🤞🏻

Has anyone else taken advantage of the Porter upgrade offer (for ONYX)? I had already booked my flights for December so I wasn't going to bother but I might be heading out west this fall so I figured it would be worthwhile. I could book a basic fare and still be able to take a carry on.

For those who know about the perks, can I apply this to my already paid for booking and be able to take a checked bag or are the perks only for new bookings from this day forward. Airmiles has to "mail" me whatever it is so I hope it comes with more details

Off topic( but going to Disneyland Tokyo) does anyone know what time Westjet check-in opens at Waterloo airport?

I am flying to Calgary on a 6:00 AM flight and I am checking luggage as I have a long layover in Calgary and don’t want to have my luggage.
