My friend lost about 40 lbs on his plan, all in about 4 months. She looked great at first as her face and hips slimmed really rapidly , now she looks a little too pale and not muscular enough, IMHO, but that's just me.
I was planning on trying it after seeing her success though, but after she started describing her meals, I though there's no way I could stick to it- she wasn't allowed any salt, any salsa, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, anything to season her foods except pepper and herbs and spices without salt, sugar or fat. Very strict.
She was eating 5 or 6 mini meals a day, basically every 2-3 hours she had a little meal (which as a teacher would be impossible, at least during school hours. )
She'd start out with egg whites and veggies, cooked in a pan or microwave. She couldn't use any oil or butter, not even Pam spray, just a dry nonstick pan.
for a snack she would have yogurt and a few berries, occasionally a packet of oatmeal made with water.
for lunch she'd have plain lettuce with lemon, a dry broiled chicken breast with lemon and a half of a baked potato, also dry, no butter, salt, or sour cream.
for an afternoon snack she would have a few slices of turkey breast meat from the deli and a spoonful of applesauce.
for dinner she would have a dry broiled chicken breast or fish, with a box of green veggies and the other half of the baked potato.
I asked for a lot of details because I was really excited about trying it. I just don't think I could do low cal, low fat, somewhat low carb and NO SALT all at once. The no salt is what put me over the edge and said I couldn't do it, because I've already given up a lot of things- caffeine, aspartame, soda, etc. and I have upped my veggie intake and my protein intake, but to do that without salt is tough! I like to make a dip for my veggies or saute them in soy sauce, or marinate my chicken in Italian dressing or marinate my steak in something (pref Jack Daniel's)
If I needed to lose a few pounds quickly, I would try applying the principles she taught me, but I wouldn't spend they money myself because life without all of those things is something I couldn't honestly maintain for my whole life. I think his program *Definitely* works faster than anything else I've seen anyone use. I don't know if there's a different plan for maintenance, but I'd guess there would have to be because no one could eat so few calories for a very extended amount of time.
I currently follow the Curves diet and work out there. I've lost 19 lbs since June 27 when I started the diet. I am beginning to see little differences and it's nice. It's a lot slower than my friend. I do wish it were faster- I think I need to cut my carbs a little lower and cut my fat a little lower as well. (I'm doing 1600 cals and 60 carbs a day) I also try to stay under 60 grams of fat, too, but usually I go over that! I think I need to work on staying at 60 grams of fat (not 80 like I am doing!) and cut the 60 carbs to 40/day.
The positives are that I am really increasing my lean mass and decreasing body fat, as they test that at Curves as well as measurements and weight.
Well, that was a lot of info, but I do hope that helped. If you are not a big fan of salt and you have a lot of willpower and don't plan on doing any very strenuous activity it might be very successful for you. It certainly works fast. It's pretty much if you can really follow it to the letter each day or not.
Good luck!!!
