Michael Jackson...role model?

I should have said for cancer research. Congratulations to your husband. I find the majority of western medicine garbage designed to mask symptoms with drugs instead of address the actual disease. I also find the standard western lifestyle lazy and the diet horrible but that is a whole other thread.

I know a lot of cancer survivors and do a lot of volunteering with the American Cancer Society so regardless of what was used to cure your husband's tumor I'm whole heartedly glad it is cured. Lance's foundation mostly gives grants for research so I don't know if he has any specific way he likes better than others.

Can you prove Lance is innocent?
Can you prove MJ was guilty?
The answer to both of those is NO!
You choose to believe in Lance's innocence and MJ's guilt. The truth is they both had allegations that haven't been proven. The only difference is MJ was a better family man and supported more charities. Not just the ones that affected him personally. Lance is the better athlete.

I just want to point out that he didn't just have sleep overs with little boys, not that it's any better but there were little girls too. He had massive slumber parties with all children.

And no I wouldn't wish that kind of lifestyle on anyone, he had no childhood, no privacy and no real identity he was obviously trying to become someone other than himself with all the surgeries. I think he tried to do a lot of good for humanity and was a soft spoken kind person but his lifestyle was strange.
No. Putting his talent aside for a minute, Lets face it, he had a terrible drug problem. An image problem. Changed his whole face to look very bizarre, He was very fragile and very shy. He had boys sleep in his bed and even though I dont think he was a child molester, this was wrong. I mean would you want your child to look at MJ as a role model and grow up sleeping with other parents children in their beds. He was to say the least very eccentric. There were many things about him that I dont see as a roll model.

As for him being a humanitarianism, that is another thing. He has been that without a doubt. But so have many other entertainers. Look at Bono.

I grew up with MJ. We were born the same year. I saw him in concert 2 times and would have loved to see him again. I admire and respect his talent, I mean how can you not. I am not saying he is a bad person, but he was a very troubled one to say the least.

Know as for a roll model, I look towards Martin Luther king for that.
Which just underscores the point that there are no perfect role models. :surfweb:

Can you prove Lance is innocent?

Yes, actually you can. A drug test comes back either positive or negative, it is scientific. A jury trial however is not. A jury weights the evidence and makes a best guess for lack of a better term. Heck, after the OJ and Robert Blake debacles I though we all new juries get high profile case wrong all the time. Any drug test will either come back as positive or negative. Look at the autopsy of this great MJ. That will prove if he was taking drugs because drug tests are pretty definite. If there is any ambiguity in cycling the B sample is used. Sine every test he has ever taken has had no trace of drugs it is proof that he has never failed a drug test.

As far as MJ being a better family man, talk about revisionist history. Family men are not child molesters. Both have been divorced so that equals out. Michael was not even raising his own children where I am confident Lance's at least has his DNA in his. He has also never been accused of being a bad father, just a divorcee which puts him in the majority. I don't agree with the infidelity but I won't put that on par with Michael's molesting.

Was the bolded part really necessary??:confused3

Why wouln't it be. On top of his great talent, and his generosity, he shared his bed with young boys.
To answer the OP, I would never want my children to grow up like MJ, not even a little tiny bit like him.

You mean, to be abused, physically and emotionally, to the extent that they become mentally ill, want to erase who they were, and to become a life-long child? I don't think so.

When will it end? :confused3

These threads are getting rediculous. :sad2:

Hhhmm this looks familiar, didn't I see this on another thread this morning? I really have to ask, if you find these thread so ridiculous why do you bother to open them and post on them? Something I will never understand.

I posted the same thing at the same time, when I saw two new threads started just to 'stir the pot'. I'm just giving my opinion on all these new MJ threads today, just as everyone else is doing. :)

Enough is enough. It would be nice (one can dream) that the subject gets banned like politics and religion, cause they can certainly get just as nasty. :thumbsup2

I'd rather my kids not look to any celebrity as a role model.

But, I do believe that he has been an inspiration regarding his musical abilities, his gratious giving to charities, and the wonderful songs he created so the whole world can enjoy.

That quote makes me sad for all the adopted children and their parents out there. :sad2:

There are definitely parts of him I would want a child to grow up to emulate. There are also things that I would not want them to grow up to emulate. The same can be said for almost every celebrity I can think of. For instance, to me Steve McNair's death was a great tragedy. Yes, he was having an affair (although how he hid it from his wife I can't imagine.) However, that doesn't take away from the fact that he loved his children and his mother and according to members of every team he ever played for, was a wonderful leader. Would I want my child to grow up to commit adultery? No. Would I want my child to have the other qualities that he seems to have had? Absolutely.

Fair enough, but just because you don't care to read and participate in the discussion of the topic doesn't mean these threads should be banned. It just means you should scroll on by and not let them bother you :thumbsup2

But with adoption there is no lie, by using donor sperm and telling the children they are his there is a huge lie, what if there are genetically linked health problems in the future for these children?

Never said they should be banned because I don't like them, but because of the nastiness they bring out and there so many it's getting rediculous. :thumbsup2

Well, one down. The other one just got locked. :)

He may be a role model musically, but he was a little eccentric and had too many issues to be a role model personally.

But, are we sure there was a lie involved with the children? Or just to the public. To me, it seemed that the family knew they were not the biological children. And it seems the biological father was close to Jackson, so in that case if health problems arose they would be able to consult with him.
