Michael Jackson...role model?

I'm sorry if certain people feel offended...becuase I'm about to offend.

This was / is a pointless post. It adds no value, or substance in regards to productive content. All the question from the OP has managed to do is showcase how ignorant and stupid some of you can be by responding and entertaining this nonsense. Based off some of the comments I read, I wouldn’t want my kids to grow up and be like some of YOU! Who I guess have it all together and live perfect lives.

Why are you so concerned with another person’s life? How are you in ANY position to speak on how messed up someone is when you probably have problems of your own? I’m willing to bet most of you have a relative that may not have it all upstairs but because their life is not as interesting as MJ’s no one cares.

People…grow up. Michael Jackson was an entertainer. He should be remembered for that. Nothing more. Nothing less. What he did in his personal life is now between him and God. Its posts like these and comments like some of you provided that help fuel and turn someone’s death into a 3 Ring, Barnum & Bailey circus show.

The man died. How and why really should not concern you. But for some reason it does. :confused3 It just goes to show how shallow your life is when you become so obsessed with someone else’s. Some of you call Michael Jackson weird. If that’s weird or strange, than what do you call a bunch of people sitting in front of a computer talking bad about someone they never met a day in life? Some of you are somewhere with NOTHING better to do but chat on a DISNEY RELATED WEBSITE about a man who you never came to know. Some of YOU people have problems (personal problems) far greater than Mj even had.

This person just asked “would you want your KIDS to grow up to be like MICHAEL JACKSON?” What type of crap is that? I don’t want my kid to grow up and be like ANYONE. Not Jackson, not Obama, not Bush, not Bill Gates. No one. Their role models should be mom and dad. Not someone they only see on TV. But I think some of you are not qualified to be a role model to your own children. (don’t believe me. See previous comments)

Some of you are exemplifying the type of parents you are by calling this man, who YOU never knew, names. Is that what you teach your kids? Judge people you don’t know? You teach ignorance and that’s why YOUR kids maybe worst off than Michael when it’s all said and done. Some of you, right now, have ignorant, careless children that bully other kids. Don’t obey rules. Lack respect. Use foul language. Talk back to YOU. Fight. And are overall just headed in the wrong direction. But ohhh noooo….you wouldn’t want them to be Michael Jackson. Please.

I would think that if one had musical aspirations, MJ would be a fine role model. He was a tremendous talent with his writing and performing. Many singers have said he was a huge influence on them.

As for his personal life, well no I don't think anyone would wish his personal life on their own kids or encourage it.

I think the term role model is greatly over used. I can't think of anyone that is so perfect or wonderful that you would want your child or yourself to "model" your life after them. Well, I can think of one but sadly, we can't talk about him on here either.

If it's such a pointless post, then why did so many respond to it....including you, with a quite lengthy response?

Hhhmm this looks familiar, didn't I see this on another thread this morning? I really have to ask, if you find these thread so ridiculous why do you bother to open them and post on them? Something I will never understand.

Fair enough, but just because you don't care to read and participate in the discussion of the topic doesn't mean these threads should be banned. It just means you should scroll on by and not let them bother you :thumbsup2

I agree! If someone isn't interested in the posted topic, why go there?

This was / is a pointless post.

Why would you go to it then? There's plenty of posts that do not interest me, therefore, I skip those.

I was trying to draw light to how pointless it was. But I guess you missed...that point.

Anyone else see the irony here?

BTW this is the community board where you can actually discuss things other than Disney in case you didn't realize that.

If thats all your capable of taking out of my comment, I rest my case.

No because I think he was a sad and tortured soul and I wouldn't want my child to be a sad and tortured soul.

No, a person is the totality of their life, not one aspect of it. To ignore the ugliness and only concentrate on the positive is disingenuous and revisionist. The molesting and inappropriate parties with children are much more important than entertainment. It would be like saying Hitler was an author and artist before he was an evil murderer of millions but ignore the later and concentrate only on the former.

You have to weigh it all and come up with a conclusion. My conclusion is that he is a child molester who sold a lot of records that the world is better off without. Perhaps yours is different but I think it is wrong to ignore the evil one does and concentrate only on the positive.

ya done? let me know when your done.

For someone who feels this thread is pointless you sure can't seem to keep away from it and post on it. You tried to make a point about the rest of us only to expose yourself. I'm done when you are ;)

An intelligent response. Thank you.

While I understand you point. I can’t say I totally agree with you but you bring up good substance. In relation to his personal life, the facts are the only suitable things to base your opinion on. As Americans we have Constitutional rights. One of which states you are innocent until proven guilty. MJ was never convicted of Child Molestation. Accused yes. But many great Americans are accused of things they are late acquitted from.

My point is, none of us knew Michael Jackson. Its unfair and un-American to judge someone in that fashion. If you want to state things about his personal appearance and behavioral patterns, feel free. It’s a little strange to me that that would concern you, but to each his own. However, don’t crucify the man for something this country said he was innocent of.

Do you have anything intelligent to add to my statement or do you simply want to have the last word? If you just want the last word, you got it. Its not that important to me. Other than that, I look forward to reading more than one or two sentences from you.

Well I wouldn't want to disappoint.
I'm not sure what your problem is other than the fact that you didn't like being shown that what you had to say about the rest of us, you know that some of us have deeper mental issues than MJ, or we have nothing better to do than discuss MJ a person we didn't know, could all be said about you. Yes, that is the point I got from your post, no matter what else you were trying to say it wasn't as loud as the unintended irony on your part. So while you are defending the fact that none of us knew MJ so we have no right to judge him, remember you don't know any of us yet you feel justified judging us. Irony at its best :sad2:

I thank you for taking my point the way it was meant and not as a personal attack. The court system and its failings is a whole other topic but your POV is as valid as mine on that subject. I merely bring up my opinion and don't think it is more or less valid than others.

My disgust at the press's coverage of his funeral for example is not a value judgment on whether anyone should watch it, it is a value judgment on how any dead celebrity is the biggest story on the planet when we have wars and missile tests going on. The funeral should be covered by Access Hollywood and TMZ, not CNN.

There are some things we will just have to agree to disagree about I guess.

I don't think that having someone as a role model means trying be an exact replica of that person. No one is perfect. We don't aspire to repeat the failures of our heroes or adopt their flaws. We look for the best in them and try to emulate those aspects. There was much that was wonderful and amazing about Michael Jackson and if those good qualities are emulated by others the world will be a better place.

And what would CNN, or any other commercial channel, say to its advertisers when their viewing numbers collapsed because billions of people around the world were watching what was important to them?

I'm just sitting here :surfweb: waiting for stock prices to change, which is what I do all day, in my trailer in the middle of a campground, all day.
