Would you want your child to grow up to be like Michael Jackson, I mean the whole MJ, with the talent, money, generosity, extensive plastic surgery, and the young boy sleepovers?

Yes or no.

What is the point of this... to start another popcorn::popcorn:: thread.

Of course I woulnd't want the plastic surgery, but I want my child happy and with a good heart. I think he had the good heart and was working towards happiness.

No. But, only because he was never at peace while alive. Great entertainer, wonderful humanitarian, but couldn't go to the store. I would never want my child to be subject to the papparazzi and all the other creatures that lurk when your famous.

No, it's not a popcorn thread. I saw reporters speaking to people outside the memorial who said he was a role model. My thought was I would not want my kids seeing him as a role model.

come on already.....

Ok, I just thought it odd that people would bring their kids to stand outside the memorial and calling him a role model. Remind me to be your clone and not to have my opinion.:sad2:

Another thing I'd like to add...
if my kids talk about me at my funeral the way his kids talk about him.. then, yes.. I beleive he was a good role model to them...

he was a role model to many, may not have been what you recall, but think of his childhood and him with the Jackson 5 and starting out - are you really not thinking he was any role model then?

Hope you continue to have an opinion, it is what makes the world go round and every one individuals.

I always thought a rolemodel was someone you would want to grow up to be like. sorry i was wrong.

Oh heck no, but I think he could be a role model to someone who needs drive. Or to someone who is being teased, but still perseveres.

Once you added the part I've bolded, did you really expect any 'yes' answers?

I've explained to my son as he grew up that there was much to admire about Michael Jackson but there was so much wrong that MJ was not really successful. I think that his performances could be looked up to but his personal life would not be something someone would want to emulate.

But then I see many people that I would not want as role models. MJ is far from the only one.

A child can grow up to be like MJ in a lot of ways and NOT like him in a lot of ways. A role model is a person that you can take SOME positives attributes from. NO ONE can be an ABSOLUTE role model, because we all have flaws.

Was the bolded part really necessary??:confused3

I like the Dis, I do not want to bypass the point system and get shown the door. Someone take my keyboard away.
