Michael Chertoff Does Not Make Me Feel Secure.

First of all Mr. Chertoff, it was hurricane Katrina, not hurricane Catarina. Try taking a public speaking course. Repetitive clearing of the throat is annoying and indicates you're not sure of what you're doing. Don't tell the people that are suffering that YOU know what they're going through. You and me and anyone else sitting cozy and dry in their homes haven't got a clue.

This is the man who is head of homeland security. This was what happened at today's news conference. What a farce.

Oh, but I'm sure had this been a terrorist attack (say, a couple bombs along the levee's surround New Orleans) things would have been much more smoothly handled.

Yep...we've come a long way in our "preparedness" for terrorist attack. We knew this was coming days in advance, had the vast majority of the affected areas evacuated, and are still going to have people dying on the streets from starvation and dehydration within the next couple days if things don't take a drastic turn for the better, and soon.

Plus the fact that the reporters seemed to know more about what was going on than he did.

This is just showing how vulnerable this country is.

There are some of us that do understand some of what these people are going through. Do you know if he has ever been in a hurricane and have to fix things and start over?

Or the idiot that is the head of FEMA, Michael Brown. If I hear that guy say one more time - "those that CHOSE NOT to evacuate...." Was there any effort made to assist these people to evacuate? Someone needs to inform this guy that not everyone owns a car and not everyone has the finances to leave town at a moment's notice.

10,000+ people who couldn't evacuate New Orleans went to the Superdome as they were told to and look how well that was handled. Then they tell people to make their way to the Convention Center but there is no one in charge there and no food or water for the people.

I think I saw that guy's news conference....I was openmouthed in shock. According to him, everything is going super-duper! They're doing everything they can and nothing is as bad as we are hearing, etc. etc.

As if we can't turn on the TV and see otherwise!

What universe is that guy living in?!
