MGM Street Performers

I agree about wanting some sort of schedule.....we've sat around just waiting for some of these guys to come out knowing how hysterical they are.

We were at MGM the first month it opened and if you think they get ignored now you should have seen it back then! People were clueless as to what was going on. What a riot! Two of the street performers stood behind DH and I while we sat on a bench and did an entire laff your butt off routine for JUST US! OMG it was great! LOL

This last trip the Lady In Red accosted my DH to his delight. She's a hoot isn't she?

And our faves are definitely the Hollywood Public Works department. LOVE it when they hold their Plunger Dart Competition. It's hard to banter with the guests and they do it so well!

Now....does anyone here remember the first original Elmo from the Hollywood public works? He was the one who had rubber legs....I have him on film and we die laughing every time we watch him! :rotfl2:

I'm almost positive we've seen one or two of the street performers either in the parades OR in tv shows or movies. I think the Mr B I have on video is in the 2nd Princess Bride movie too!! :earboy2:

Great topic. I could talk about the streetmosphere people all day. LOL

Since I love everything about MGM, I know what you are talking about. I love the skits, the shows, and most of all, when the Blues Brothers come out and sing.

The Blues Brothers? I know they perform at Universal, didn't know about MGM. DS loves them at Universal. One of the guys who used to play with the Blues Brothers over at Universal also played at the PI Jazz Co. and at POFQ several years ago when they had live music in their lounge, Eliot Dyson. Does anyone know if he's with the Blues Brothers in MGM? I didn't know there was such a band there, and I'd love to see Eliot Dyson performing again.

Hey there! :wave2: You're right down the road!!! It took us about 6.5-7 hours to drive from Pensacola to Orlando. I absolutely love MGM too. It have a great ambiance about it. I love the old Hollywood feel. Its magical. I hope you have a great trip! :cool1:

We go all the time. They're called Streetmosphere and I love them. I haven't seen some of my favorites lately (Mayor Wilford Witherspoon, The Great HP, etc). But there are new favorites... Francis Flute, for one. Oh, and the lady who plays Sara Besque left a week ago to go play Velma in Chicago.

So yeah, I love them and I have some great pics that I'll post when I have more of a chance.

Simba's Mom,

I am so sorry that I made a mistake. I have been to both parks several times and it is easy to get them confused. Please forgive me. Regardless, I enjoy MGM more than any other park in Central Florida and I can't wait to get back there very soon.

Here's a funny performer we saw on Monday!!! She was really funny!!! My two youngest dd's didn't know what to think of her!!!

I think they are the best also. I love to watch them. Here is a link to a thread I made the other day with other links in it. #'s 1, 2, 9 and 19 should have pictures of them. Thanks for a great thread.

Everyone, thanks for your responses and for posting your experiences with these people. I also loved looking at the pictures that were posted by someone else. I am glad I am in the majority of people who LOVE them! I thought I was the only one who paid attention to them! Its good to know they are getting the attention they deserve. :cool1:

I wonder how much $$$$ they make doing the little skits. I would guess not much since Disney is notorious for paying low wages,

The street performers are all part of the Actors Equity Union and do very well. Disney's wages depend on the position but in most cases while they may seem low they are in line with what the position should pay. Obviously actors and performers are going to be paid much better than someone who sells Ice Cream. While people like to say Disney's wages are low they really are right where they should be. I mean seriously how much should they pay someone to sell popcorn from a cart.

Hi, Francis. Welcome to DIS. Feel free to explore all the forums on the site, and enjoy your stay. :thumbsup2 So, you'll be premiering a whole new cast of Citizens in March, eh? Do you suppose they'll be around in June as well? I look forward to seeing them in action.

Back on Topic:

Out of sheer randomness did I decide to get autographs from the Citizens of Hollywood. And I did it on personalized Disney stationary that I printed from the Internet. Their names are as follows:

  • Perry Blade
  • Hollie Woods
  • Frankie Scottkey
  • Stone Granite (I think that's what it says there)
  • Mr. & Mrs. Incredible (Hey, they're not Citizens of Hollywood!)
  • Terri and Jerry Klothz
  • The Great HP
  • Gracie
  • Al Dante
  • Dainty Debbie
  • Captian Edwynn Sideman (MGM)
  • Officer Ronnie

Any of these names familiar to you, Francis? ;)

When you are in the GLEE CLUB! :thumbsup2 Saw you Feb. 6th with you and Miss Gar Bage, you ROCK! :cool1:

very talented performers, but they are guilty of one of my pet peeves ... yelling into a microphone. The very first thing I was taught when I started doing TV and theatrical production ... NEVER yell into a microphone. It just annoys your audience and damages your equipment.

The Streetmosphere Players are my absolute favourite too! It is the greatest thing to sit there and wait for them to come by! I haven't seen the same skit twice. I quite often videotape them and then they play to the camera which is the most hilarious part!

:rotfl:

Oh I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Francis Floot! :teeth: We saw him over the summer and over Christmas and can't wait to see him again!!!!!!! :lmao: Hopefully I can snatch him up for a picture as well!
WHOO FRANCIS! I'll be rootin for yah over the summer!!!!!!

P.s. Does anybody else think MGM should make shirts with some of the street performers on them? :scratchin All the characters have shirts....and I find the street performers just as important! Just seein if anybody else felt the way I did. :teeth:

My favorites are the utility guys. The christmas skit I saw last december was hilarious and the old sedan delivery they were driving was decorated with greenery and sported a hood ornament that was a duck decoy with a red christmas ball on its beak and twiggs for antlers, I wish I had a picture.

We found these fabulous performers when we were there last in January. My husband was picked one afternoon for the dating game. I laughed myself silly watching this, as I had set him up to be chosen. Well, as he so aptly put, the shoe was on the other foot, for the next day, I was chosen for the same thing! I had never seen a female picked, so I thought I was safe :)

My favorite has got the be the funniest citizen in Hollywood. Anytime we are waiting in line for something, we do the 99 (fill in the blank) went into a bar... it cracks us up!

Hi to Frances Floot, I was the lady picked two afternoons in a row for the dating game. Had a great time at the tar pits with ya!
