I posted two days ago, asking people whether they would choose MGM or the AK if they had to choose, as I'm not sure if I'll be able to visit them both if (most likely "when") I go in October. I've never been to either one. I'm still up in the air about it. Here's my thinking so far:

I do enjoy thrill rides, and my mom and I have the understanding that I'll go on rides that just don't suit her (thus I'll be riding alone). MGM has two awesome-sounding thrill rides. (The notion of the elevator drop on the Tower of Terror, by the way, freaks me out far more than the notion of riding a roller coaster. Very few roller coasters bother me.) There are other rides as well that I've wanted to try for years--Star Tours, The Great Movie Ride (as I have a good knowledge of classic movies), and Muppets 4D (which my mom and I would both get a huge kick out of). I've wanted to go to this park longer, simply because it has been in existence longer, and I've been reading about it since I was ten. There are also a couple of attractions there whose days seems numbered.

On the other hand, we both love animals as well. While the individual attractions at MGM sound more exciting to me, the AK sounds more attractive overall. It sounds like a beautiful park. While I appreciate thrill rides--and the AK does have those as well--I can also love more sedate endeavors, such as strolling along and watching animals. The animals would also provide my mom with more to do while I'm on thrill rides.

I suppose that I can catch whatever one I miss on another trip in the not-too-distant future. There's also the possibility that I can see them both through creative time management. (I'm working on this.) But for now...argh! I'm getting obsessive...can't you tell? :-)

Well, WDW has been an obsession of mine since I was ten. I've know a good deal about it through reading guide books and through the internet. As I mentioned in the previous post, I've only been to the MK briefly on a school trip, and I've been longing for nearly ten years to visit WDW following my own agenda, more or less. The "or less" part in this instance is because my mom and I can lodge for free at the hotel where my best friend will be staying for business, so we need to work with his schedule. I haven't excluded the possibility of paying for one night at a hotel in order to give us an extra day.

All right, enough rambling for now. I just want to get as much out of this trip as I can without being in too much of a rush. I'll let you folks know how it turns out.

For me.. I would choose MGM just because we like this park better than AK. We have more favorite rides/attractions here than AK.

We definitely like MGM better and usually visit several times during our trips. We were disappointed in AK. We are only visiting it next trip to ride EE.

RnR and ToT are awesome and a must do :woohoo:

i love AK the shows rides everything seems at peace with nature and its self... i love animals as well so do my DDs. we didn't even make it a day at MGM just too hot there wasn't an easy way ro cool off don't get me wrong i love the shows there and want too go again but need a rainy day :)

i know its kinda hard to choose, but i personally like ak better. my husband and i love all the animals, esp. the safari ride. also ittbab,i absolutely love. they have a coupld of shows that are great. also, we just got a couple of weeks ago and my husband said he really like the everest roller coaster ride. i did not go on . im not a roller coaster person. its to bad you didnt have a hopper pass, you could spend time at both. i thinkeither park you guys will have a great time, plus you will have to go back to see the parks you didnt on this trip...............................

I'd split it. I'd go to AK and ride EE, Kilimanjaro Safaris (if you must), eat breakfast at the Tusker House, then see It's Tough to Be a Bug and the Lion King show and get the heck out.

Take a mid-day break and go over to MGM for whatever you like there.

If possible hit a day with Extra Magic Hours (if you are in a Disney hotel) or avoid them (if you aren't in a Disney hotel.)

Good luck! (And if I absolutely HAD to pick one I think it would be Animal Kingdom...but that just depends on my mood!)
