MGM & MK Table Service Meals

Pecos Bills and Backlot Express are both CS meals, not table service meals.

MK doesn't have any really stellar TS choices. It's just not a great park for dining (unless you're looking for character meals). I recommend you aim to do CS at MK, or take a boat or monorail to one of the MK resorts for a meal at one of the great TS restaurants there. That's going to be a lot better than trying to make-do with the choices at MK.

D-MGM has a bunch of great TS restaurants. The Hollywood Brown Derby is the only signature restaurant inside a theme park, and the food and service warrant that distinction. 50s Prime Time Cafe is the quintessential Disney dining experience, marrying great food with theming and "show" that are hallmarks of why people enjoy eating meals at Disney restaurants. I'd choose between those two.

At MGM we love Mama Melrose for lunch. We also love 50's but that food might be too heavy for lunch.

At MK we love Tony's. We tried LTT and didn't like it. You can find our reviews for these on this board. We just came back last week.

I do wish there were better options at MK.

50s Prime Time Cafe has some decent light options too: Seafood Primavera, Caesar Salad with Chicken, Albacore Tuna Plate, Fish Sandwich, and Chicken Sandwich.

Duh I just saw what I wrote, sorry just take it as me being tired from the plane ride home.

MY husband & I plan to arrive at POR on a Sunday, 9/24 & to go to MK that evening because it is the park that is scheduled for the extra magic hrs. I am not impressed either with the table service resturants in MK. My husband and I are more steak then seafood lovers. But fish that tastes like steak would probably be wonderful.

I thought perhaps it would be a good time to try one of Disney's resturants in the MK resort area--Comptempory, Grand Floridian, Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge. We'd love to get recommendations of where you would choose to eat a table service meal in this resort area.

We are calling this our 2nd Honeymoon (never had a real 1st honeymoon) & are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. There will be no children so a more adult place might be more relaxing.

You comments & suggestions would be most appreciated.

Our personal favorite is Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge, which you can reach by water launch or a quick five minute bus ride from the MK entrance. Excellent food, expert service and wonderful atmosphere. Citricos, at the Grand Floridian, is another great choice. Again, the perfect combination of great food, service and atmosphere. Both are incredible.

Not quite as good but still worth considering are Calfornia Grill at the Contemporary (service is spotty, and the atmosphere isn't as nice -- very noisy and frenetic at times), and Narcoossee at the Grand Floridian (great food, but again spotty service).

We have ADR's for the Crystal Palace Pooh Character lunch at MK. From what I've read, it has pretty good food (for those that like buffets anyway!).

We have dinner ADR's for the Hollywood Brown Derby in MGM, but SciFi and Mama Melrose are also two of our favs there. HBD is a new one for us this time and we're very excited!!

For Table Service at the MK I would suggest dinner at the Crystal Palace (I think the food on the buffet is VERY good.) They have a nice selection and some great desserts too.
For lunch I would suggest Liberty Tree Tavern or the Plaza Restaurant.
Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern is not bad--Turkey, Flank Steak, Mac & Cheese, salad, and more.

MGM Studios I like Mama Melrose's and Brown Derby. I did not like Sci Fi at all and 50's Prime Time is okay (atmosphere can be fun, food was so-so.)

What are some good table service meals at MGM & MK parks for lunch?
There aren't a lot of choices in these two parks for table service. In the MK, we like Liberty Tree Tavern and Plaza Restaurant (end of Main Street). At MGM, I'd have to agree with Mama Melrose's or Brown Derby. Check out the menus and prices at www.allearsnet.com
