I haven't been to MGM since I was a teenager many years ago.. Is MGM one we should skip when we have small children???? Our oldest is 8.

It's my favorite park, so I may be biased!!! For little ones, the Disney Playhouse show is a must, and the Little Mermaid ride is great, too. Your two older ones might like to go through the Animation Tour and try to draw the Disney characters while the little ones are seeing their show. As a family, you might like the Great Movie Ride, although the 2 year old might be a little scared in some dark places. They should all like the Indiana Jones show - most kids of that age aren't frightened when they realize how open the theater is. Everyone should love the Muppets and if yours are at all adventurous they might like Star Tours. We love the Motor Stunt show - lots of exciting action there! And we like the backstage tour too, but you might skip it. The Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground is a lot of fun, and the afternoon parade is awesome, with lots of kid friendly characters. They might like the Sci Fi Dine In for a meal, or the 50s Prime Time cafe - those are our two favorites with kids.

In short, there's a lot to do at MGM!!!!

MGM is my least favorite park, so I am also a little biased (just in the other direction!).

We went January, 2007 with DD6 and DD2. We are going again this January with DD7 and DD3.

My 6 year old was frightened on the Great Movie Ride, so I would skip that. There are actually signs outside the attraction "this attraction may frighten small children". I didn't remember anything being that intense and didn't take the sign seriously. Take the sign seriously.

DD2 at the time seemed to like Playhouse Disney, but it isn't something that she remembers. DD6 at the time liked the Muppets (and I love the Muppets). We also saw The Little Mermaid, but I don't think that my kids are big "watch a show" fans. And they are girls that will sit still for many things. They sat still, but just didn't seem interested.

I was going to skip MGM on our next trip, but DH said that we HAD to go to see the High School Musical show. DD7 (she was 6 last time) is nuts about HSM. That might be a reason that you go to MGM (since you have an 8 yo and a 7 yo). DH also talked me into the Playhouse Disney charcter meal. Next time that we go, they will probably have outgrown Playhouse Disney.

We missed Beauty and the Beast last time (I've actually never seen B and the B show), so I would like to see that, too. It can be difficult to get a lot of shows in because of the timing (esp. if you plan on the nap in the afternoon). DD7 might ride Rock 'n Roller Coaster (I'm crossing my fingers). And I really want to see the Walt - One Man's Dream attraction. And maybe the Animation Tour.

Our trip is a week long - any shorter, and I would skip MGM. Like I said, it is my least favorite park.

Have a great trip!

MGM is also our least favorite and I think least child friendly. There are a few shows that they might like, the HSM is new and I have not seen that. The stunt spectacular is really good but might scare the baby as it is REALLY loud. I think the little mermaid is kind of scary for little ones too. I agree that if you have a good amount of time, and hoppers, go for it , if not wait for another trip.

We love MGM (or whatever they call it now), but your youngest aren't going to find a whole lot to do there. The first time we took DSpirate: he was 18 months and we did Playhouse Disney, and that's about it.

The second time he was 3 and we did Playhouse Disney, Muppets, and maybe something else, but the parade at MGM is his favorite, so for us we make a half day out of it.

I have 4 children. The first time we went to MGM they were 2,4 and 5 (we didn’t have the baby yet:)). We loved playhouse Disney, B&B and the little mermaid. We saw almost all of the shows and a parade. We met most of the characters and the kids loved the honey I shrunk the kids play area. They had a blast. However when we left the park my two oldest said "hey we didn’t ride any rides". It was really cute. I think it was the most easy going of all of the parks. I really never felt rushed that day. We will be going back in March 2008 (for our 6th trip) and we will do MGM with a 2, 7,8, and 10 year old.

We had a lot of fun at MGM, my dd's are 4 & 6 and they LOVED the HSM show, we watched it 3 times, they rode Tower of Terror twice, really liked the Beauty and the Beast show, watched the Stars and Motor Cars Parade, Indiana Jones, Star Tours, we saw lots of little side street shows and laughed till our sides hurt, saw lots of characters and did a lot of pin trading! We had so much fun, MGM is much more relaxed and laid back than MK, it was a nice break. FYI, the Rockin Roller Coaster has a height requirement of 48", my DDs were upset that they couldn't ride it :sad1: I say go and have tons of fun!

DS5 had a great time this summer. Got to meet the Power Rangers, Kim Possible, and Buzz Lightyear. Loved Star Tours and the Great Movie Ride. We are returning in June '08 with my folks and my Sister's family. He has already decided we have to go eat at Sci Fi again. Because, "That is SO cool !" :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
