Hello all...we have two boys 5 and 8...we've been to MGM only once before and left early due to bad storms. We're finally going back...we'll be there for Star Wars weekend, which we are looking forward to.

My kids aren't big roller coaster nuts yet so the Tower of Terror and Rockin' are out...what are your suggestions for some "must-do's".

Thanks for the ideas...May the force be with us!

There's always the shows there--- like Indian Jones, Beauty and the Beast-- and Disney Playhouse-- depending on their likes-- they may be alittle old for this one. Also, the parade and Fantasmic are both awesome. Also, there is the backlot tour and the Great Movie Ride (don't know if it's still closed though). There are lots of characters to meet at MGM too. I really enjoy MGM. However, it has turned into a 1/2 day park for us. Hopefully they'll add a few attractions soon.

There's lots to do for kids - Who Wants to be a Millionaire (Kids really like it - I've seen lots of kids in the hot seat because they just guess and get the fastest finger), Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones, that Backstage Tour tram thing, Star Tours, eat at Sci-Fi or '50s Prime Time, Little Mermaid, Great Movie Ride (except it's closed - sorry), Fantasmic (a must). They also might get something out of the Walt Disney One Man's Dream exhibit.

Have you done ToT? You might try it yourself - the 8 year old could be up for that depending on him. I've even seen younger kids on it - probably as young as 5.

I absolutely love Indiana Jones at MGM! I always try to see that when we are there! I also have little kids (5 and 3) so must do's are The Little Mermaid, Bear In The Big Blue House and Great Movie Ride (although I guess it is closed now:()...We also love the Backstage Studio Tour, that is always fun! :) My kids especially love eating at Pizza Planet because they are big Toy Story fans! :)

What about Jim Hensons Muppetts in 3D! Great for the little kids and the big one's too!

For sure you have to take them to Muppet Vision 3D.
My next bet would be for Sci-Fi diner. It is an adventure all it's own. Your kids would love it. Or try 50's Prime Time diner. That is a great adventure. But make sure to read the menu before going. They have a kids menu with never fails ie. hot dogs, pizza, hamburgs, But the rest of the menu is very 50ish food. Meatloaf, fried chicken, pot pies. But it is just a really cool rest. The waiter play a big part into the experience.

Thank you everyone who posted! I think when we went before we headed to the right and never made it to the back or the left side of the park. We hit it on one of those all day rainy, high windy days...I think there were even tornados in the area. We only stayed 2-3 hours and then did something else. Thanks for the hints...my boys will love the 3-d experience.

By the way, how scary is the Rockin' rollercoaster?

It depends if you don't like the dark and going upside down! Not a long ride, but fun. We go to Cedar Point sometimes and I think most of the coasters there are scaryier(?) than RrC.;)

My DH loves MGM, and he doesn't do TOT and only did RnR once. The atmosphere is so nice. I LOVE Beauty and the Beast- Live on Stage. It's a great show and the pre-show is really good too. We did the dinner and show deal at Hollywood and Vine. It was good and you get priority seating for Fantasmic, which we all LOVE. I do agree that MGM has become a 1/2 day park for my family also.

My kids love the Honey i Shrunk the kids playground too. We had to make a special trip back because it closes earlier than the rest of the park, and they really wanted to play there. It is hard to keep track of them inside, however.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire-Play It is a great attraction. My DS has been on the hot seat three times and one of my DD has been once. Have fun.
