MGM Character Meal Update Thread

I called for ADR today and just happened to ask about Character Meal at MGM (this is the first time I read this thread---now I am definitely subscribing!) Anyway, she said there is no character meal at MGM but she did ask, "When will you be here?" After I said May 3 - 10 she advised, "Keep calling back to check." So, it MUST be coming....

I hope they announce something before our 4/30-5/9 trip!!

A little FYI-we will be moving to Orlando, and I have gotten into the habit of reading the Disney casting webpage. A while ago they had a casting call for an actor to portray "sarge" for a "character dining experience." So I am thinking he will be in there!! DS11 will be thrilled, TS is his all time fav Dis movie and he has a special soft spot for the BUcket O Soldiers.

Just called DD CM said nothing yet.........keep trying.

At 7:01 am the dining CM said there is no character breakfast at MGM Studios. I asked if one is in the works and she said, "I assume there will be one one day."

Just talked to Holly at Disney Dining...she said they know NOTHING...she did confirm that it is going to happen just has NO idea when. I was already the third caller this morning! FRUSTRATING...she did say that typically they walk in that morning and have the information.

I had my hopes up this morning too. I was put on hold for a LONG time then she came back and said "Character dining at MGM, what date are you looking for?" My mouth dropped. then she said "How many in your party" . . ..THEN she said, "wait, there isn't any character meal at MGM". BUMMER. I'll keep trying. Thanks for this thread.

I think many of us thought for sure today would be the day. Did the CM have a clue as to what you were asking about or was it one of those "What character meal at MGM?" cm's?

Holly initially acted "stupid" like she didn't know what I was talking about, but when I let her know that people can see the casting information and that it clearly states about the meal she seemed to "open" up some...then she would confirm that it will be happening here in the near future but she didn't know when. She did say that usually they just walk into work in the morning and are given the information for that day to start taking appointments...so that is frustrating!

I say we all (or at least those of us with free long distance) call everyday. This way it just might force Disney to at least release some official information on the meal. What do you think? Will it do any good or will we just annoy them?

2/27/06: Two new restaurants are coming to Walt Disney World! An Asian restaurant will debut in the Village of Anandapur in Animal Kingdom's Asia in Summer 2007. It will offer both table and counter service dining options, as well as house retail space with Asian-inspired merchandise, such as sushi plates and fine teapots.

In early 2008, Downtown Disney will sport a new themed dining experience -- T-Rex: A Prehistoric Family Adventure, A Place to Eat, Shop, Explore and Discover®. The restaurant will be home to life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, a dig site and much more. The table service restaurant will feature waterfalls and geysers, and, as the name indicates, there will also be a retail shop.

The opening dates of both new restaurants, which will be operated by the Rainforest Cafe's Landry's Restaurants, are subject to change.
