I was wondering if anyone thinks it is possible to do MGM ONLY in the late afternoon into the evening on an EMH evening nite? I plan to do this and figure since there isn't that much to do there it can be done...thoughts??

Yes....the only thing you need to make sure of is timing of any shows you want to catch. B&B and the new Lights, Motors, Stunt Show have specific times. You need to check those out and plan around that for when to arrive, etc. Other than those, we usually do MGM in that amount of time.

Considering that the general feedback is that the crowds are most crowded on EMH days, you'd probably be better off trying it on a day that isn't an EMH.

What is the B& B show at MGM?

Beauty and the Beast.

We do MGM in a matter of hours now, but we've gone several times and know which things we don't care to do again. We did the stunt show in May and don't see a need to do it again, so plan to just hit Millionare, ToT, and RnR and head to another park ;)

MGM is deceptive in it's offerings. There is more to do than it appears - unless you truly only go to ride the two "thrill" rides. I'm not a "shows" person but each one at MGM is worth attending.

I hate to be discouraging, but I have to be honest - you are going on what will be a busy day, and going at the busiest TIME of day. The afternoons are the busiest in any park, and coupled with evening EMH more people than ever will be there.

Good luck!

N.E.D.

I have to say I don't think it can be done well this way. Perhaps they add some later shows on EMH nights? Otherwise I think you will be able to catch only one of the big ones. Good luck though, let us know your results.

While we were there last week, the last stunt show was at 3:00 and the last B&B was at 3:00 or 4:00. You'd have to be OK with missing one or the other, there are no extra shows scheduled during evening EMH. Also the stunt show fills up really early on busy ie: EMH days.

Also, do you intend to see Phantasmic, or will you do something else during that show?

The problem is, on an evening emh day/evening, you are picking the one day and time with the longest lines at that park, hands down.

People are packing in with their non-hopping Magic Your Way package tickets.

I for one am avoiding evening EMH parks like the plague.

Ditto.

Considering the length of all the attractions, and the limited show schedules, I can't see you getting it all in even on a slow day. :sad2:

Consider the following:
- pick a day FOLLOWING evening EMH that hopefully also has 2 showings of Fantasmic and plan to see the late one
- pick only 2 shows (Stunt, Indiana, Beauty, Playhouse)
- see Stunt show ASAP. It cancels for bad weather, occasionally has malfunctions which limit the show. And be prepared to be squished in like sardines! :crowded:
- consider skipping Backlot, Sound Dangerous, Millionaire or Mermain depending on who's in your party, and, I know I'm in the minority here, but if you are not a Sesame Street lover, skip Muppets as well.

If your expectations are not too high you can add in what you've skipped if time permits! Then you'll feel you've gotten a bonus! :cool1:

When are you going?

When we were there in June the evening EMH was incredibly crowded. There were many more people everywhere at WDW this year than in the previous years since 9-11. However, my daughters were able to walk right into the added showing of Fantasmick with no waiting. So if you have hoppers, it would be worth heading over there just to do Fantasmick and then hopping, maybe to Epcot on the boat.

Tot and RnRC had horrible lines. We left, so I don't know if the crowds thinned out near closing time or not.

If you are going during a slow time, then it could be entirely different.

Is it your first time there? If so, I would plan the whole day on a non EMH day. If you've been there before then you could certainly do it (better on a non EMH day ).

We normally spend the morning at AK and then the rest of the afternoon at MGM. We don't get to do everything at MGM though, but we've been there and know what our must do's are.

Just wanted to mention this since no one else has---to me, this is a must do...and if you haven't been before, I think it adds some perspective to the whole WDW experience. One of the few things I LOVE at MGM (that and ToT).

Rockyroad---

We are going in 11 days!!!---going to be VERY crowded I assume

Kizmac---

Not my first time, but my BF's first time.

I may have to reconsider the itinerary...getting freaked out! We have a AR for that nite at Sci-fi then planned to watch Fantasmic, then planned to take advantage of EMH. Now I may replan the whole thing. I think we will still do Sci-Fi and Fantasmic but go back another day for the rides & shows...Thanks everyone for the advice!!!
