I am somewhat of a movie prop collector/enthusiast. When we first rode the MGM Backlot Tour in 1996, the tram portion included a tour of the Boneyard (movie-filmed vehicles, etc. strewn along the side of the tram course) and concluded with a leisurely, self-guided tour of a large room filled with various move props on display. However, when we rode it in 1999, the tram ride was greatly shortened, and the ride essentially consisted of the water FX display portion and a small walking tour of a few vehicles from "Armageddon" (no Boneyard tour via tram). What does this ride consist of today? Has the Boneyard tram tour been reinstated?

Thanks,
Mike

I was there the 1st week of Dec.

First, there was the special effects show on the water. Then the whole group walked to the trams, going through a building with all the props. That line was short, and did NOT wind through everything. Then we boarded the trams that went through the costume department, past the home facades,
( I love to see "The Golden Girls" House), through the bone yard, and then into "Catastrophe Canyon".

I aways think the Canyon is wonderful.

We did the Backlot Tour on January 1st and the water portion is first, then they load the whole group onto the trams for the tour (this winds through a prop room) of the boneyard and the houses and the canyon. When you exit the ride, you can wander through a room filled with movie props and take as long as you like.

:( One other thing; depending on the crowd, the line through the prop shop could could be long {winding} or short {just walk past the first end row} . More guests long, less guests short, because they rope the rest of the place off .:D
