I just recently put an offer in at akl that was accepted :) now I am thinking of new things to worry about like should I expect the maintenance fees increase more at akl than the other Disney world dvc hotels because I am sure the maintenance at akl would be more than the other resorts because of the animals etc? Or is that being crazy I have read that the other non world resorts have higher fees because of hurricanes or is that not true either thanks!

The annual fees have historically increased 3-4 percent per year.

You can see the complete DVC maintenance fee history for all DVC resorts in the "DVC Resource Center" thread at the top of each DVC discussion forum. The maintenance fee history is found in post #2 there.

For 2013, the Animal Programs portion of the dues at AKV amounted to $.30 per point.

The possibility exists that the dues rate might get adjusted higher after DVD is finished selling AKV. That's what happened at BLT and Aulani had an adjustment soon after they started selling.

The large increase at BLT was made shortly after they began sales (not when they completed sales there). The increase at Aulani is only for those who purchased after a certain date and was due to mis-management by the former DVC executives who apparently made some gross errors with their legal documentation as sales began. Those execs were replaced as have their replacements.

AKV began sales long before either BLT or Aulani and has not seen any unusual increase to date. I would not anticipate any unusual increase in the near future or even when active sales have ended.

AKV began sales February 1, 2007 and has not seen any unusual maintenance fee increases since that beginning.

BLT sales began 9/21/2008 and had a maintenance fee increase as well as a point chart adjustment in January, 2009.

AHV (Aulani) began sales in June, 2010. Sales were halted in 7/2011 after irregularities were discovered in their legal filings in Hawaii. Sales (with an increase in both sales pricing and maintenance fees) were re-started in August, 2011. Those who purchased between June, 2010 and July, 2011 have a different fee schedule than those who purchased in August, 2011 or later. This is similar to the maintenance fee structure at Vero Beach - which had some component modifications from the original resort plans at opening back in 1995. Those who purchased in 1995 still enjoy a large discrepancy with their annual fees as compared to those who purchased after about 1996.
