Hi everyone! I am new here; this is my first post! We are going to Disney in Oct.(1st-7th) I have an ADR for San Angel Inn, but I am still not sure that I made the right decision. Can anyone tell me about the restaurant in Japan? We have 3 girls, age 7, 5, and 3. Any other suggestions for a TS in the World Showcase that might be fun for them. Thank you so much!

We love the atmosphere in San Angel Inn and we like the food but be warned it isnt anything like Taco Bell or Monterys. I havent been to Teppenyaki in many, many years but am going Aug 29th so I can let you know when I get back, I will say I have heard lots of good things about it though..

I have been to the San Angel Inn with a 3 and 4 year old and they loved it. The atmosphere is great and after we ordered we took them on the log flume ride (there are no drops) that is next to the resturant (same building, you can see the tables from the ride). We rode 3 times in a row... never a line for the ride then the food was at the table.. No fighting to keep them occupied while waiting for the food... I dined in Japan with adults and was not all that impressed with the food and not sure how well it would go over with kids. The kids also liked Alfredos in Italy

You can see the complete menus for all dining at allearsnet.com

We had the worst food and service EVER at San Angel Inn. The food and service at Teppanyaki have always been good and the "show" the chef's put on is very entertaining.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies. I love these boards already! Looks like I have some decisions to make. We have eaten in Alfredo's back in 1997, just my husband and I, but we have some really good Italian restaurants here in New Jersey, so we wanted to try something different. Any other suggestions?

I like the food much more in Japan but the atmosphere in Mexico is amazing. (BTW, I absolutely love Mexican food and I tried to eat in Mexico 3 times and every time, it just wasn't good).

I've never eaten in Japan, but ate at San Angel Inn on our last trip. The atmosphere was very nice. The tables were a bit close together for my taste.
I had the mole poblano and it was very, very good.

I like San Angel Inn for lunch, but the dinner menu doesn't look as good to me (I've also heard others express that lunch there is better than dinner).

I recently tried Teppanyaki for the first time, and really enjoyed it - the food and interaction were both great. Based on that, I would probably recommend Teppanyaki over San Angel for dinner, and call it a tie at lunch.

The San Angel atmosphere really is awesome, we usually go just for that. The food has always been good for us, but I'm no expert what is considered good Mexican food.

Never been to Teppanyaki, because I'm not much of a Benihana's fan, and I figure it's similar, but I imagine the food is good and kids would enjoy that as well.

Have fun!

We've eaten at both Teppenyaki (Japan) and San Angel Inn (Mexico) on the same day on our past Disney trips. Although I like Mexican food (tex mex style), I didn't care for the food at San Angel Inn nor did anyone else at my party. We all enjoyed the atmosphere and delicious food at Japan. The atmosphere at Mexico was toooo dark! You couldn't see the platter in front of your face. At least in Japan, you could end up with a very entertaining chef cooking your meals. That may also be a plus if you were dining with kids. Mexico's service was way to slow.

My family of 5, 3boys ages 9,8 and 4 at at Teppanayaki on June 27th. The food was great (the kids thought so to) and the kids had fun with the chef. I would definitely go back again.

Teppanyaki definitely offers more in the way of entertainment than San Angel Inn. Maybe you could just go to Mexico for the El Rio Del Tempo ride? That way your children can still experience the amazing ambience at San Angel - and I think it's definitely worth seeing. Beautiful... :cloud9:

As a side note, we have always had good food at San Angel Inn, however last time we went we felt incredibly rushed - the main courses were brought out before we had even finished our starters! Also, we had a very loud and obnoxious party right next to us, which was offputting to put it mildly...

Thanks everyone! I think I am leaning towards changing my ADR to Teppanyaki. It sounds like fun. After looking at the menus, I think we'd like the food better there, as well. I've always wanted to eat at San Angel Inn for the atmosphere, but maybe we can just go in and look around, and of course go on El Rio del Tempo. Thanks again!
