$8 billion for a wall? How about rebuilding NO first? Or upgrading our interstate system, our power grids, and the rest of our infrastructure. Mostly it seems to be people from the North, not those living in border states, that support this wall.
"Illegal" Mexican workers milk the cows, and harvest our crops...I guess it will be fine for the price of those crops to double or tripple to pay Americans enough to do those jobs? Or how about the service industry, hotel employees, etc? Maybe $200 night average for motel/hotel stays will be more your cup of tea?
In truth, most "illegal" Mexican immigrants serve our society, they perform jobs that most Americans will not, or would not, at the wages they currently receive.
And guess what, employers are currently required to verify someone legal status and eligibility to work in the US...it is called an I-9 form. Hasn't stopped anyone, including Wal-mart, from hiring undocumented workers.
