Mexican Riviera July 20, 08...Hola Amigos

Leasi--We are planning on going to the parks on Thursday and Friday before the cruise. I am not sure if there are a lot of options on the penny books but my kids and I would love to pick it up to make Camden's birthday extra special. Maybe PM me and I can get your cell phone or phone number to call you when we are shopping to make sure I get the right thing?

Too all--As mentioned before--I cannot sew:sad2: ...so the FE thing has been interesting. I can cut and I can pin things together but I thought sewing a straight line would be easy. Well it would be if my sewing machine would work right. I finally called my mother-in-law who can sew anything to help me and my machine...NO LUCK:headache: ...just me I guess:confused3 Well, when it is finally finished it will be a good thing...:cheer2:

Vern and Karen--do you know when you will send out the final lists? I will not be able to get onto a computer starting on Wednesday next week so I want to make sure I am updated on everything.

Thanks everyone....11 days:cloud9:  :cloud9:

Karma - I cannot thank you enough. I will PM you my phone number in case you need it. Not too picky, so long as it doesn't have princesses on it!:lmao: :thumbsup2 I don't think that would go over too well. Like I said, I have his quarters and pennies, just need a book to store them in. He has taken quite an interest in different monies and this will just add quite nicely to his collection.

As for your FE, I commend you for giving it the old college try, which is more than I did! I bought one at Target, but it is brown with pink trim. That was all they had. I am going to try to Disney it up a bit, but it will just have to work. I just could not get my mind around how I was going to make it and the hunt for something appealed so much more!

See everyone soon!!!!

I am going with the FE list as it stands now. We are leaving to go to St. Louis tomorrow since we fly out to California on Saturday!:cool1: Hopefully the information stays the same. We are planning on meeting right before sail away party on deck 10 right?

Read and post cruise reviews

Thank you for the welcome, everyone.

As I mentioned in my 1st message, it'll be our first DC. We're so excited.

I am Ken, my wife is Stephanie, our sons are Ethan, Eugene, & Elliot. Eugene & Elliot are twins. Our room is 8076 (I think).

We all look forward to the trip and hope to meet lots of people during the cruise!

Hey Emilee, I'm sure that this is the list of our FE's. Deck 10 is the spot. Karen and I will be wearing NEON Green shirts so everyone can find us. Also, I have a prize that will be awarded to the Family that has the best decorated door. Using this criteria:
1. Originality (we all know that we can copy other door signs)
2. Use of Our Slogan: ("Hola Amigos" Mexican "MAGIC"al Cruise)
3. Use of Your Family's Name
Doors will be judged on these three things.
You don't have to be part of the FE's. I know what you are thinking, What is the prize? You will have to find out at the meeting just before the Sail Away Party on Deck 10.

Thank you for the welcome, everyone.

Thank you for this info. Ken. Will you and your family be meeting us on Deck 10 before the Sail Away? Also what are the ages of your sons? And is your family eating at the Main or Late Dining? If you have any questions about Our group, Disneyland, or Disney Cruise Line. Please just ask we are here for you. Vern and Karen Tennis

Just thought I'd check in :wave2:

Welcome to the group, yasw98! This is our first Disney cruise too and I know it's going to be great!

Thanks, Vern and Karen, for the FE lists and organizing the meet. Wish I'd known about the door competition sooner - I'd have been more creative! (I'm one of those great copiers. :) ) I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's doors and fish extenders.

My DD's birthday party is this weekend (13! :scared1:) and once that is over with I can focus on finishing packing. I've been gathering things in the guest room for weeks; now I have to figure out how to get it all on the ship!

Can you believe that in less than 10 days we'll be sailing with Mickey? :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Hello, again
Thank you for the welcome, Vern & others.

We'll try to be on Deck 10 for departure party. As for the dining, I am not quite sure. I think I requested for the MAIN dining (I guess that's the early dinner around 6:30PM, right?) to my TA when I made the reservation. I guess we'll know for sure when we get the dining schedule at our room...

BTW, my sons are 10 years old (Ethan) and 6 years old (twins - Eugene & Elliot). For some reason, I am more excited than my sons... :yay:

 Hola Amigos,

Those who haven't left for LA quite yet, I have an idea  . Those who have a Home Depot accessible to them can go get the Mickey head paint chips in DIS green and write their names on them and pin them to their clothes so that when we meet, we can see who we are and know we are with fellow DIS'ers.  My family is planning to do this, and I thought others may be interested, too, for the meet on deck 10 before the sailaway party. party: party:

Kerri

I'm getting so excited I can hardly control myself:banana:

The count down has been long but we are almost there......

Thanks Vern for the FE list.......I haven't even started packing, but getting my FE gifts ready :rotfl: I guess I better start thinking about what I am going to pack....hmmmmm....bathing suit, bathing suit,.....oh, I guess I better figure out what to wear to dinner. Ordered tuxs for my men....we've never dressed that formal, but decided now that the boys are "young" men decided I better go for it before they totally get minds of their own :lmao: and refuse to dress how mom wants them too! teenagers...minds of their own....never will happen :lmao:

Kerri......great idea on the mickey heads with our names....it helps to have that visual. I'm terrible at remembering names unless I see it written. We've already picked up some of those Mickey Paint Chips for our stateroom door, but don't think I got enough green ones.....add to list.....trip to Home Depot!

Well, time to get busy.....9 days til we are on that big Mickey Boat :dance3:

Hey Kerri, That's a great idea, but just to let you know, I have made "something" for everyone on our thread to identify ourselves to each other. It is a surprise when we meet on Deck 10 before the Sail Away Party. Shh! Don't tell anybody it will be our secret. :rotfl2: Vern

Okay Vern. Your secret is safe with me!:ssst: Kerri

Okay, I stared sewing the FE and it looks so small. Can someone tell me how wide theirs is? How big are your pockets? I am just wondering if the sizes I got from the link are wrong :confused3 or are my gifts too big?.

UGHHH...at least the suitcases are getting packed--12 loads of laundry, 11 more gift a making, 10 errans for Monday, 9 meals I making, 8 hours of sleeping, 7 days on the Magic, 6 floor were staying, FIVE CRUISIN" CHRISTENSENS--4 more days to pack, 3 days at sea, 2 staterooms, and 1 dog left at home with grandma!

I am so tired so I will sign off now.:faint: Thanks for all your help!

I just measured the one I made and my pockets are 10 1/2 inches wide and they are each pretty deep.....I didn't look up any measurements before doing mine....I just winged it :lmao: So ours maybe too big :confused3 And because I can't sew I just used nylon bags. Each bag measures approx 10 1/2" wide and probably about that deep. Hopefully ours isn't too terribly long.....we'll see though....In 1 week

The normal measurements are no wider than 9"....I make mine 10" all the time. They will just hang over a little:thumbsup2....they are to small for me at 8.5-9"...so always go bigger. I made a new one this time I will post it tomorrow. The length is no big deal.

Are you all caught up on your FE list on the first page. I have been gone and I myself will be at DL while you are all cruising. So check and let me know by PM.....thanks

Hello,

Just under a week for our cruise

I bought my FE on EBAY. The length measures 21",the width 7 1/2" and the pockets are 5" deep. It seems kind of small to me. Here is a pic of it.

Just found this board....

The six of us - dh, dd 11, dd 8, ds 6, ds 4 (and me)... are anxiously anticipating setting sail this Sunday.... I have spent ALL afternoon reading posts... (instead of getting ready for our trip)....
We are cat 9 - rooms 2020 & 2018 (that family of 6 thing... requiring us to pay for two rooms -ugh! - the paying for 2 rooms, not for the family of 6 - I know we're blessed)
Our second DCL Mexican cruise. (lucky us)...we brought the girls last time, so we "had" to bring the boys this time. Just rummaged through our stash of DCL Memory stuff this afternoon - digging out the lanyards & pins - what a GREAT time we had.
I noticed a few N. Cali families will be on this cruise and wanted to say "Hello"...of course, one of things I enjoy about a cruise is meeting families from around the states & the world... so "Hello" to you too!

Can't wait too get the partied - started!!

ps we are main dining
pss - I figured out FE is "fish extender"...and I am guessing they are used for little gifts??...but what are they & how did this start

Lastly, any advice for Palo. I made our reservation...but it looks like it is on the Captain's Gala night...and the menu says "lobster"?? I am NOT missing lobster... is it better to eat at Palo's on one of the first nights (I don't want to miss Animator with my kids, so will make the Palo reservation later...also, I know that it's completely booked, but will see what I can do once I am on the ship.... didn't eat at Palo's last time - didn't want to spend the extra money (husband), now I am laughing because the price went up...but seems like it's a MUST DO??)

Thanks in advance for all you advice, tips, stories etc...
