Hi!

Has anyone recently been on the 7 night mexican riviera cruise? I was wondering how the sea conditons were? We are going March 6th and am hoping for fairly mild seas (not too rocky hopefully!).

Thanks!

2/13 cruse was really calm mild seas until the last 24 hours. The captain knew ahead of time and warned us all. Moderate waves 4-8 ft. Really Rocky ! Even the CM's we commenting that they were not used to this type of sea conditions as they have not been in the MR very long.

I was on the 2/13 cruise and it was my first cruise as well. The shipped swayed pretty good the first night on the way to MR and on the last day back to LA. Both days had pretty good swells, but the first day they were mostly in the middle of the night so I slept through them. And my wife said that was a good thing for me :-). One cast member told us if we make it ok through the first night we will be ok overall! I was nervous about possible sea sickness so I took Bonine starting on Sunday and had no problems the whole trip.

The ship moves pretty quick there and back to make up all that distance, with speeds up to 21 knots, so I think that contributes to it too. Once you get there though, Cabo and PV, the seas were calmer and the ship moves at a much more leisurely pace.

Agreed! The first night was a little rocky, but not too bad. The rest of the week we had very calm waters and I hardly noticed the ship move at all. Then the last day hit and we were rocking! I was watching the report on the tv the last evening and the wave conditions were actually listed as "severe" for a few hours! I really thought I would get sea sick, and I brought sea bands and Bonine with me, but even with the waves the last 24 hours, I didn't use them.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the info. I really hope our cruise is not that rocky! One day isn't bad but more than that will be hard for me! I'm 18 weeks pregnant and the thought of being sick does not make me happy. Is that normal for the MR or do you think that was just the weather on the 2/13 cruise? Any other input or advice would be great!!

Thanks!

Stacy

What room are you booked in? We hardly noticed the rocking (except the last night) in our room. We were near the aft elevators. However, I REALLY noticed it in the Walt Disney Theater which is located forward on Deck 4. We also really noticed it in Wave Bands which is forward on Deck 3. It seemed to me that the higher you are and the farther back you are, there is less movement.

Hi,

Our state room is located on deck 2 mid ship (near the conference rooms). We have an outside facing room (porthole). I hope that maybe the really rocky night out and back are not the norm? Any one else on other cruises in Jan. and Feb. that have any input? I plan on wearing sea bands but being pregnant I'm trying to avoid sea sickness meds if I can. I am hoping for a mild cruise on March 6th with no terrible rocking - fingers crossed!!

Thanks!!

Stacy

We really felt the movement in the rear restaurants especially parrot cay which we ate in night one and 7 both of the rougher nights and the last night in Walt Disney theater. I think mid ship is best to avoid the most motion. I agree with the theory that they have to speed up to get us there and home.

We did speak to more than one CM that said the Wonder CM's are not used to that kind of movement as they have just got to the pacific side....suggesting to me that this may be someone the norm for that area :confused3

None of us felt sick though just a little dizzy.

We were on the two day cruise to nowhere and part of the time the boat rocked quite a bit, I was fine, but DW got a bit sea sick when we were inside the cabin. (We had an inside cabin), but as long as she could see out she was fine, so an ocean view should help, at least in our limited experience.

Yep, pretty much roughest from LA to Cabo, then Cabo back to LA was very rocky...the stateroom, (7000) was creaking all night long.
I'm pretty sensitive to motion and didn't take medicine the whole trip...felt a little queazy last nite in Walt Disney Theater but was generally fine.

I also just got off the 2/13 cruise and I still have my sea legs from the last 24 hours! LOL The ship was really rocking and our room 7532 creaked all night. So CA was having a storm at that time which I assume had something to do with the rough seas. I never felt movement at any other time during the trip. At one point the it looked as if we were on a lake because the water was so flat! My kids never once commented on the rocking of the ship though. They fell right to sleep!

we are also on deck 2 midship on the mar 6 cruise :) Just wondering which rooms you are in..

I was on the 2/6 sailing and the sea conditions were great. On Tuesday morning the cruise director came on the PA and said that the sea and weather that day (77 degrees and sunny) was so perfect that Pixar must have created it. Cheesy, I know. But it was my birthday and at home in MN it was -10 degrees so I was in heaven. We even went off course on our sea day and sailed near Cabo so we could see it better as we traveled to Puerto Vallarta.

The last day though, Saturday, you could tell we were heading north again and cruising at a good rate because there was a little more motion.

We were on Deck 2, just past the conference rooms. Room 2518, porthole room. I thought that part of the ship was ideal, very little movement.

Thanks for the info! Hoping deck 2 midship makes a difference. We're in room 2064 and hoping for smooth sailing. I'm going to wear sea bands and am also looking for that reliefband "watch" thing that some boaters use. It's hard to find though! At least it was only the day out and in for the 2/13 cruisers and just a CA storm. Wishing for great CA weather on March 6th!!
