Hello all,

So for our upcoming trip I am starting to plan my ADRs since our window opens up in a month. My dad and I are big Mexican food fans so I was planning on having a meal in the Mexico Pavilion during our trip. However, after looking over the menus, it doesn't seem like the table service restaurants are typical Mexican food, but more upscale Mexican food. For example, I didn't see the typical Taco, Enchilada, Burrito, Chili Relleno, etc. food. My dad doesn't eat fish either.

Does anyone have any reviews of these places. Theres something on the menu we can eat I am sure, but I am wondering if it is worth it?

Are there other Mexican restaurants in the resort area (not necessarily Epcot) that you would suggest?

There is a Mexican restaurant at Coronado Springs as well. The Mexican restaurants in Mexico are traditional Mexican not Americanized Mexican most are familiar with. They each represent different regions of Mexico and are run by the same company as the restaurants at Coronado Springs

Paradiso 37 is actually our favorite for Mexican in WDW, even though you can get other types of North, Central & South American influenced food as well we love their Mexican dishes. It's a fun and lively atmosphere too. Located in Disney Springs. Oh and LOVE their margaritas and they now make drinks table side!! It's quite a show!

Feel free to check out some photos and a review-(update currently in the works) -

I think I am just used to the Mexican food out here in California. My family has a really hard time finding Mexican restaurants we enjoy when we travel. I'll definitely check out Coronado Springs.

That was really helpful. Seems like a fun place, I will definitely add this on our list of places to look into! I am always down for a good margarita too.

I'll just chime in and say that the food at San Angel in the Mexico pavilion is really good and the atmosphere is amazing particularly if you can get a seat by the riverboat ride.

I agree with trying San Angel Inn for the atmosphere. I have had better luck ordering several appetizers rather than the entrees. The green salsa is particularly tasty!

Your assessment is correct. The Mexican restaurants in the Mexican pavilion are not the Americanized Tex-Mex food you are looking for. They are authentic, upscale, regional Mexican food.
We enjoy both, but we know we are not getting typical American fast food Mexican.

Very true. After working for 2 years on Los Angeles I really don't like East Coast Mexican food any more.

Even though it gets mixed reviews, we really enjoyed San Angels inn also and were lucky enough to get a table on the water on one of our two trips. The atmosphere is excellent.

San Angel Inn is pretty good. Cocina Frontera in Disney Springs gets pretty decent reviews too.

Frontera in Disney Springs is good. I like the walk up QS tacos, nachos n such in Epcot as well as the Hacienda as opposed to San Angel.
That being said, the tequila cava inside the pyramid, is good for interesting cocktails and chips and guacamole.

I was just about to say that Frontera Cocina might be what our OP is looking for. I've only eaten there the one time, but even though it was more "American Commercial" Mexican food, it was *really* good. As in I-can't-wait-to-eat-there-again good. I have no shortage of the more authentic places here in Los Angeles, so I get to enjoy both approaches.

Check out the menu of the Maya Grill at Coronado Springs. We like to dine there.

I am not really looking for Tex-Mex necessarily. I have had authentic Mexican before, I am just not used to the upscale Mexican. I am just seeing what my other options may be :)

I have heard the atmosphere is great. I was thinking of San Angel if we eat in the Mexico pavilion. :)

I think you understand my Los Angeles Mexican food life lol. I am so used to the authentic taqueria's we have out here. :)

My Mexican in-laws will tell you that it is not traditional Mexican. I would not compare it to anything I have had in Cabo, either.

Our entire family finds "Mexican food" in Disney to be quote unpalatable.

Disney Mexican food is far from upscale. You will be safe there. LOL

They are not upscale by any means. I have had upscale traditional Mexican food and this is not it.
