Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Hey y'all,

Still out here in ville platte. At a shell station right now, to get food & internet. We still don't have power here or at home. We'll probably head home tomorrow.

Take care,
Sheryl

Joey got in and checked on our place. Everything is fine. Even have power and cable in the Quarter.

Still no power and even the water is not usable in Jeff parish. We're staying put here in Hattiesburg.

We have friends that live in Old Jeff by Haydels. They were told they probably wouldn't have power for 2 weeks or better.:confused3

Hi everyone, I'm so glad everyone is safe and congrats to those with power. We're out in Old Metairie so we're staying put in Destin with two little ones until it's OK to come back. I can't imagine what the fridge will smell like when we get back!!! I can handle a stinky fridge compared to three years ago.

Still here in Little Rock, AR. Going to hang out until we get word of water/power somewhere.

Turned this exile into a vacation. WDW trip is being pushed back until NEXT Sept, since we had to use vacation time and savings. Oh Well, at least we can still have an 09 trip at all.

WE ARE HOME!!!!!!:cool1:  We had no power in Ville Platte, it was wearing us out. Took another shot at calling home & got our answering machine around 3:00. Decided to pack it up & head home.

We got in around around 10:30. Thank the Good Lord:worship: We have power, water, cox telephone, cable & net. We have to conserve water because the sewer system is only at 40% capacity. It was dark so I couldn't check outside, but no visible damage inside or out!:worship: :worship: I am sooooo happy to be back in my house!!!

Power is still very spotty throughout the Westbank. Damage seemed to be minimal except for the Westwego where the tornadoes hit. Baton Rouge area looked really bad. Drove through LSU campus & down Highland, saw lots of damage. I hope BR girls are okay.

Just so glad to be back home. We were blessed this time.

Hey everyone. Just a quick note to let everyone know we're OK since it seems we've already dropped off the headlines. Sheryl was right - BR lost a lot of it's beautiful green canopy.

Can't believe everyone, but we're hearing weeks before power is restored in Ascension Parish due to vast amount of Entergy's major transmission lines being down.

Thank goodness DH decided to buy a generator. As long as the fuel situation stays stable, we'll be sweating, but @ least I won't have lost my freezer. Just did a "load" of laundry the oldfashioned way - I'll have line-dried towels for the 1st time in ages (that is if the love bugs dont carry them away).

Family in Lafourche did OK. Ranged from a little bit of lost siding to complete loss of shingles / black paper w/ resulting water damage. Power situation looks more dire for them & Terrebonne parish.

Keep the prayers coming.

I've been thinking about you and I tried calling your cell yesterday, but I'm not getting a good signal here.

I wish I could offer some words of comfort but being stuck in Hattiesburg has me pretty mad. Just know that I'm praying for ya.

We've got power!!!!!! Doing the happy dance!! I guess we'll head out in the AM.

No power yet at home and the water situation isn't rectified yet as far as I know. For my work I have to have internet access 24/7.

Ladies I AM HOME! :yay: I HAVE ELECTRICITY BUT NO CABLE. THE SEWAGE IS ALSO FINE!

I am too pooped though so I will check in again tomorrow. I hope everyone is doing okay. :goodvibes

Trying to post on limited access w/ DH's laptop.
Power situation not good. Heard Entergy report worst for LA since K.
Gonzales area (Lori's brother) intermittent power restoration.
For us in the Prairieville/Geismar/Dutchtown area anywhere from 7-21 days. Hoping we're in the 1st part as we're just off 1-10.

To make matters worse, parts of EBR parish are seeing rising flood waters from rain inundated channels (Amite, Comite, etc)

Pray for our family members in Lafourche & Terrebonne - looks like nearly 4weeks before power restored. No water, sewer, power.

Kathy - cell service getting better, but still spotty. We've even lost land lines at times because of fiber optic service for phone /internet/ etc being tied to battery backup.

Terry - don't you have family in Vacherie? Sounds like St. James taking it on the chin as well.

I'll try to check in tomorrow. Jenny - how're things going in Walker?

WOO HOO we are home NO damage. lights, cable, internet! and drove 400 miles with a screw in the tire - came home on a wing and a prayer!!! praise God!!! can't use water but what the hey! I never cried so hard as when I saw "Welcome to Louisiana" at the state line!!

took us just over 7 hours....with stopping for gas and breaks. not sure about the water but I am SO GLAD TO BE HOME!!!!:cool1:

Good morning NOLA.

We got power back on last night around 7:00. It went out for about two hours during the night and came back around 2:30 A M. We threw out everything in the fridge and freezer before we left so today I'll try to restock what I can.

I hope you all had little or no damage from Gustav. We fared well this time around. I'm sorry I didn't read back and I'll try to play catchup today. I've got so many loads of laundry to do and want to hit the stores before the mad rush later in the day.

If any of you are still on your way home.......stay safe. I hope to see everyone here soon.

I am so glad to see so many of you coming home to no damage. Lets hope it stays that way for everyone! It is good to be back home.
