Oh Kathy I've been having a cocktail every night for the past few nights watching this storm. Counting down until Sienna's bedtime until I can have my cocktail tonight!

I know that most of you won't know who I am, but Kat and Sheryl are like family to me, and I know that you are all part of theirs.....that being said (in a confused way ) I have all of you in my thoughts, heart, and prayers......I wish there was more I could do............Please stay safe!

Is it crazy to really think of doing Disney during this? I am still fighting this cold and in complete denial that I have to pack and even DH IS CONFUSING ME NOW.

We have a $1000 deposit tied up with that Disney December 2009 cruise and we could cancel that and have it credited back to my CC(which I had paid already). I have $200 in Disney reward dollars.

DH had me call WDW to see what they had open-I booked CBR-tell me he ISN'T a confused man now.

It would give the kids a chance to experience the water parks, which we have never done before.

I am thinking out loud and partially feel guilty about even thinking of this.

Well if you're crazy, then so am I! We're still going on our scheduled trip, and are headed down that way for evacuation and are adding US/IOA if we do that since we'll be early for the WDW part. I keep feeling guilty about it too!

Not sure what info Mayor Nagin has received but he just made a statement that the West Bank was the most critical area but with the new track the entire Metro area is now critical.

See thats what I cant stand - all the conflicting information. If you dont know, just come on TV and say "I dont really know right now" and be honest about it. I am afraid that what will happen is that there will be so much confliciting information that no one will know what to do and people will either do nothing or wait too long to do anything.

Is the guilt from ourselves or because we could be having fun whislt our homes and those of our friends are possibly under seige?

I had been whining about our funds being low, but here we have "found" a way to get away and have fun too. When we were in Dallas we had fun, and yes, we felt bad, until my friend, who lost everything in Chalmette, called to tell me they were having fun in Houston.

We were also supposed to go the the beach on the weekend of the 13th and that can be easily cancelled and the little bit I had saved for that can go toward this. So far I just had $1500-ish freed up. I have an AP already paid for last January, and got an AP rate at the CBR for $99.
I found out the kennels are free(as in 'available') for the week for the doxies.

Are y'all going to empty your fridge's & freezers before taking off? I cooked some of the fish & shrimp I had in there last night. I'm cooking lamb chops & steak tonight, but there is still a bunch of stuff in there. I'm thinking I'm going to throw it all out, even though it will make me sick to do it. But to come back home to all that rotten food & the smell would make me even sicker!

Jan, I'm sorry I don't have a list like that. For Katrina I stuck everything in Bob's briefcase. I have not gone back to filing things in the file cabinet. If it's really an important paper, I just stick it in the briefcase.

someone on another board I am on said put all your frozen food in garbage bags and put back in the freezer. if power out - pull out bags and throw out. if not just unload when you get back.

yah I just called and OKW and AK and ASM are all available. with its wealth of hotel rooms, we might just go there too. if we do I hoe we can meet up. not worried about ADRs at all - just on getting out...

3 years to the day...are we really doing this again??

I can't imagine how everyone feels down in N.O. - 2 storms back to back, almost like Deja Vu.

The inlaws are coming up from Gretna tonight along with some friends from Marrero. It's nice to spend time together...just don't want to relive that experience with them again.
