Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

He also told me to expect the spinal injection on Thursday to really hurt! :scared:
Ouch Sheryl. Will be thinking of you.
Hi all - I hope everyone stays dry.
Well I didn't stay dry at all! I finally drove back here from Little Rock yesterday - I was in the horrible, horrible hard rain the entire way. It followed me. Plus I went to meet my friends at Fat Harry's and it started raining after we got there. So this morning I walk down to McD's to get breakfast - it starts raining on the way back.

I must be getting moldy by now.

Hey y'all!
On a funny note, DH volunteered to dress up in a tomato costume for work this past weekend for their Tomato Fest. :rotfl: I asked him if he scared any little kids with his costume, and he replied no, but did say that a little old lady came up to him, squeezed him, and announced to everyone "He's ripe!" He felt a little violated.

I promise that was not me who pinched him. I wasn't back in town yet - or it might have been. He's still pretty cute even in tomato costume.:lmao: :lmao:

Afternoon Y'all,

BTW, I am donating my hair on Thursday-okay well, cutting the 10 inches Locks of Love asks for on Thursday! I am so excited. I like my long hair but all summer have wanted it cut off. Since I am going to Columbus to meet DH's boss and possible future co-workers, I am primping! Getting my hair cut and gonna get a pedicure!
I'll do before and afters for my hair! I have done Locks of Love before with Ashton and she asked me to do it again a couple years back-I am ready, she is not. She wants to wait a couple more inches of growth before doing it.

Lori

Lori, Good luck with the haircut tomorrow. I can't believe you have 10 inches worth to donate, that's really a good thing you're doing! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to seeing the before/after pics! Have a good trip, if I don't check in before then!

Good morning NOLA.

The rain woke me up at 2:30 this morning. It was thundering and lightening like crazy here in Mandeville. :scared: At least it stopped before the kids have to go to school.

Lori I think that's a wonderful thing you're doing for Locks of Love.

Weather over here is really funky too. Everyone be safe!

Good morning all... well almost afternoon lol!

Been busy the past few days, inlaws were here for a lovely visit. Brought us lots of fresh fruits and veggies, Ive been cooking up a storm.

Had open house for Jack last night, I came away less than impressed. Lori had to listen to me for a good while this am all about my concerns LOL. School officially starts tomorrow, not sure if he will be on the bus .

Jenny, Really sorry that you're disappointed with the school! I'm bugged that we don't even get a Meet & Greet with the teachers before school starts. 1st day of school is a full day too. I just read on the school's website that kindg. can ride the bus. I'm going to have to call for details & figure out if we'll try it. It would help me a lot, if the time is not too early, where I can get Bob & her ready. The school is also putting up a new building, so drop off/pick up lanes are really going to be a nightmare!

Sorry you're all wet! ;)

Thanks, I'm really getting nervous about the injections tomorrow.

OH MY LORIE... that hubby of yours is too freakin funny in his costume. Hope you two girls feel much better very soon!

It was GREAT talking to you Jenny, I hope I helped somehow. Just know that whatever decision you make(putting him on the bus or not) it will work out and either way you go is okay, he will be fine. Just stand up for what would work for your family-others will either just shut up and think your crazy anyway, and your true friends will stick by you and think it is crazy and COOL what you can do with the time you have with your son and the vacations you have the liberty of taking any time you want. PLUS think of all the "vacation field trips" you can do. We counted our trip to Chicago as about 2-3 school days b/t the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Lincoln Park Zoo. I cannot wait till they are old enough for Washington DC!!

You are the 1st Dis'er I talked to by VOICE!

Lori

This is from the 1st time Ashton and I donated hair about 3 years ago:

We wouldn't let Haley b/c of all her curls and how short hair with curls would look(umm like Ronald Mc Donald, sort of how her hair was when it was coming out of her head!!!) She wanted too and still does but we draw the line.... maybe when she is older...

My hair is actually longer than this right now-about 2 inches or so longer. READY to CUT IT OFF!

I'm so sorry the school disappointed you, that makes letting go so much harder.

Sheryl - I'll be praying for you tomorrow.

I haven't posted here what happened last weekend, it's just been so hard to even talk about. My parent's house was broken into and trashed. I can't even begin to describe what was done in there, it is so sick. We are still set to close on the 28th of this month and thankfully the insurance company will be issuing us a check by the end of the week to begin the clean-up. It's been a pretty rough week.:sad2:

Kathy, I'm happy to hear that it's all going to be taken care of & that the closing is still scheduled. I know this has to be really hard to deal with!

Kathy:grouphug: I am so sorry-how horrible!!! Glad insurance is working quick to get the closing in order on time. THAT is a nice supirise to hear about!

Welcome, Erika; I am Lori(one of 3 I think) and live in Covington. I have 2 DD's, 8 and 10 and been married almost 15 years!

Lori

Can't believe it's taken me this long to notice this thread!

Hello all!

:wave2:

Welcome to our group!!! Glad to have another Westbanker here....:yay:

Thanks Jenny & Lori, I dread having to go back into the house. Johnny is trying to round up a crew where he works to do the cleaning for us.

Sheryl - Thinking about you today, if you can, please let us know how you are.

Good Morning NOLA.

Oh Kathy, I'm so sorry. Thank goodness the Insurance Company will move fast and the closing can still happen. Hang in there my friend.

Hi Erika and
1.gif
. I'm Tricia and I live in Mandeville. I am a SAHM, have three children ages 16, 12 and 8. Stick around and post with us.

Sheryl good luck at the Doctor today.

Good morning all!

Its a pretty morning here, hope everyone has a great day!

Sheryl, hope your Dr.s appt goes smoothly!

Thanks for the "welcomes", jenny, Grumpy's Wife, and shovan :) .

A little bit about me:

I lived in Algiers Point until I got married almost 6 years ago and moved to Nine Mile Point.

We went to WDW for our honeymoon (of course).

DH and I have a 2 1/2 year-old daughter, Ava.

We joined DVC in 2006.

We LOVE WDW and almost anything Disney.

I look forward to getting to know you all :).

:wave2:

Morning Ladies:

Kathy - hugs to you...man people can be such animals!

Aesalsa - :welcome: to the group. We live in Terrytown and have 1 daughter. I will be moving to MS. next year but I will always be a member of this thread! :goodvibes

Jenny - I wish i could meet DD's teachers before school as well. I hope everything goes okay today. :)

Sheryl - wishing you a good Dr.'s appt.

Have a good day everyone!

Kathy - I am so, so sorry to hear about the house. That truly is so traumatic. Here's hoping that all goes well for the end of the month.

Welcome Erika.

Lori - loved the pictures.

Tricia II

Morning everyone! It's taken me a while to get back on track now that school has started. And boy has it started with a bang - my 4th grader has already had a project due, three tests between today & tomorrow, & two more tests scheduled for early next week. And we started school on the 8th! Oy, if this pace keeps up I'll be exhausted just trying to keep up with his schedule!

Lori - hope everything works out for your little man on his 1st day! We've got open house tonight, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Sheryl - good luck with the injections. Hope the little bit of temporary discomfort yields some big results for you.

Kathy - I can't believe this is happening so close to closing! Thank goodness it didn't didn't discourage the buyers. Maybe in some weird way this will help you with the transition. Look at it this way - you're not selling your memories, just a house. So no matter what physical damage was done, it really is just cosmetic (even though it's frustrating as h---!) I'm as sentimental as they come, so I know it's difficult for you having to close this chapter in your life. I'm glad you're getting help from the insurance company.

Ohh...maybe we need to write that down....a positive response from an insurance agency in this post-K world. It really does exist.....:rotfl: !

Lori- I'm jealous. I would sooooo love to donate to LoL, but I don't have the patience to let my hair grow so long. I do know they take somewhat shorter lengths, but i dont' think my layers would make it without necessitating an Annie Lenox-style "after" look!

"Evil" Lori - Gotta love a man who willingly "dresses" up for work! Great pics!

Oh Kathy, That is horrible!

Hi Erika!

I am Stephanie, full time SAHM, part time cake decorating instructor. I am married and have two boys Kurt jr(almost 4) and Aiden(just made 2). We live in Marrero.

Thanks for the "welcomes", jenny, Grumpy's Wife, and shovan :) .

Hi Erica, I welcomed you too.:guilty:

I grew up in Algiers and made the big move to Terrytown 20 years ago.:rotfl: I am married (Johnny) and I have one son (Kyle 18) who is a baseball player. You're going to get sick of hearing about baseball when the season starts.;) He will be playing at Delgado on a scholarship.:goodvibes

Sheryl (and the rest of you Westbankers) - Just remembered, I ran across an ad for a new Farmer's Market in Westwego. Looks like it'll have good hours. I'll try to remember to look for the ad @ home with the details like hours, address, etc.

Hi, Erika! Haven't "seen" you around the boards in a while. My guess is it has something to do with that 2.5 yo in your new siggie pic!

So, Jenny, did he get on the bus today???????

Cajunmommy, your longest layer has to be 10 inches. If you had curls, then it can be 10 inches with the curls pulled down. I will post a before and after for this time! I go at 2:30. Ashton is getting hers trimmed.
We are not doing school today-I have too much going on. Packing for Columbus, gettting the kids packed, our first AG meeting tomorrow that I have a LIST of things to get, re-doing Haleys room is taking me forever and I want to have a garage sale in October and it is overwhelming me!!! DH is coming home tonight so i am trying to straighten up a little bit(not that he cares, but I just don't want to have to work this weekend as we are both out of town next week!)
