Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Yes it is....I did not realize how large they are though. It is as big as a small boat. :rotfl: I takes up 1/2 of our patio.

How did you enjoy your 4th?

Like usual on the road for baseball, but we had a pretty nice time.

Hey gals. Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I have been very confused as to mourn my grandfather. He wasn't a nice man, in fact he was abusive to my grandmother. His funeral was ok. Then his niece gave the weirdest eulegy. She went on and on about how much he loved his second wife. She wasn't even there(she has dementia and are chosing not to tell her...). It was just weird knowing he beat up my grandmother and left her while she was 7 months pregnant with my uncle to hear him as such a wonderful husband.

Anyway, I brought the kids because I didn't have anyone to watch them. My cousin and her friend(both 12) kept them out of the viewing area until mass. During mass(around the second reading) Kurt jr turned to my cousin's friend and told her "THIS IS ABOUT JESUS, PUT YOUR HANDS IN YOUR LAP":lmao:

My mom took it very hard. Having my son there helped her grieve.

I hope everyone had a good 4th! We did. I went to my dad's house. My dad and stepmom BBQed. We ate outside and did a few small fireworks(nothing big or illegal, just a few sparklers ;) ). Yesterday we set up the baby pool and Dh got in it(a little plastic baby pool) with the boys. :rotfl: I tried so hard to get a picture(a 6'2 large man in a 1/2 ft tall, plastic baby pool!) but he threatened to drown the Harry Potter book I was reading, and I well I just couldn't take that chance!

I am very excited I start my first class this week! Thursday night. It is already full, but August classes are available for sign up, Course 1 on friday nights(this may change if there is no interest for a friday class). I will be teaching a Course 1 class every month(one 2 hour class for 4 weeks), plus a supplement class(Course 2,3, or Fondant & Gumpaste).:teacher:

I'm sorry about your mourning confusion. I'd be there too. If only everything about Jesus meant hands in your lap!

Now for DH, I'd loan you my hardback Harry's to see a pic of that one! Pick something after 4. I started reading between 4 and 5. So 1-4 are paperback from ebay and 5-7 are hardback from me not being able to wait to read them!

Just FYI Harry Potter Half Blood Prince movie comes out Nov 21. Prevue pics were in USA Today Friday.

Stephanie -

Ditto! we are here for you girl!

Happy Monday to everyone. I am off today.:yay:

I am in the cleaning mode the last few days. I have mopped shampoo'd carpets, cleaned 1/2 of the garage, emptied DD's closet of all her baby stuff, cleaned the patio furniture and the siding on our house. Whew...what has gotten into me! :rotfl: :rotfl:

hey I will happily come and clean up all the fondant scraps - no charge!!! :rolleyes1

Hey y'all,

Tricia  It's really okay, we all need to vent sometimes!

Stephanie, That must have been difficult, glad your kiddo helped your Mom get through it!

Terry, I don't know what's gotten in to you:confused3 But do you want to come to my house?! ;)

I ended up with a Nana day off today & did nothing but read & went for a swim! I started a book last night (Water for Elephants) and finished the whole thing today. All 300+ pages of it. It was a very very good day!

LOL....:rotfl: :rotfl:

Ladies I am tired of the mess and clutter and dirt. I mean we are clean people but DANG and we are true Pack Rats.

Lori, I am reading HBP now.(for the 3rd or 4th time) I cannot wait, esp after the HP weekend on ABCfamily this past weekend!!! My last 4 are hardback b/c of not being able to wait. But I truly love paperback, for reading in the tub!!! It is really hard to read a hardback the size of HBP in the tub.

I have paperback , but it is in 4 pieces from me and Ashton re-reading it so often. All of my paperbacks are in deplorable condition. I was thinking of mailing them to JK's publisher to show her HOW much these particular ones have been enjoyed!

The last movie is gonna be so emotional- heck, THIS next one is going to be such a tearjerker.:sad1:

yeah, I am a sad case when it comes to HP. They are SO good. I cannot wait to see if Haley picks them up to read-although I will have to purchase new ones!!!

Lori

I am re-reading Goblet of Fire. It is hardback and the one Dh threatened to drown! He never really would have done it, he is too much of a bibliophile. Books are his one obsession, we have hundreds, probably well over a thousand.

Hello NOLA and Happy Tuesday.

Yesterday was one crazy day for me with Kelsie working and Kendall's cheer practice. I felt like all I did was go up and down the highway all day. Today we have an easy day. A trip to the library and then to our local video store to rent a bunch of movies. You gotta love $2 Tuesday. All new releases are $2.00 and aren't due back until Sunday. I guess we'll be couch potatoes

Hey y'all!

We've been busy over here- I'm gonna have to read back a few pages to catch up! I hope everyone is doing well!

On a humorous note, my SIL just got back yesterday from a week in WDW. This was her first trip there, 4th of July week! I was sure she would be miserable reporting back, but she called and said they had a blast! :cool1: They had paid for two pool view rooms at AKL, but got upgraded to savannah view at check-in- nice! She wants to plan another trip now and wants us to come along, so I think the Disney bug definitely bit her! :rotfl: As far as us going along, I'm a little iffy on that. She has the money to stay deluxe, we don't. She also has kids in school and has to go during peak season or summer, and I definitely don't want the crowds, so we'll see. DH is gung ho for it, so hopefully there is some compromise that can be met. I also know that big family trips can create family drama and tension, so that makes me a bit nervous too.

Our family compromise(this past trip) was going at Mardi Gras b/c it isn't AS busy and not hot as summer. If you do it, make sure you are vocal, many times, about not having to do the same thing at the same time the whole trip. Make sure you all know you can hang out together or NOT hang out together and there will be no hard feelings. After all, it is your family vacation too and the point is to relax and have fun. You can go together and not stay at the same place. We had family and friends who stayed off property and we met up to eat and a few times in the parks.

Ashton's official 5 years off chemo was in March and DH had a BIG problem , at first, with going even one day before the actual date(7th). Then we looked into prices and he got a little more flexible. Then my DB said he wasn't taking his 3 year old our of school:eek: (crazy, I know, i mean, how much are you retaining at 3 years old:confused: ) so we compromised on Mardi Gras. We had gone at MG before and it was okay. October was our favorite month to go. We had been in March before too(2x) and we loved it-we missed the crowds somehow.

It is fun to go with a group(gosh, we've never been by ourselves except before kids) but you definitely need some family rules.

See that's the problem right there. DH and SIL were talking about even getting connecting rooms! :scared1: I'm thinking no way! I need my space! I don't want to seem like the snooty one here, but geez.... that's a little too close for comfort (for me)! I'll have to talk to DH about it some more. I have no problem with meeting up with them, but to be stuck together like glue is not my idea of a vacation. Also, and I'm not trying to be ugly here, but SIL has an infamous bad temper. :furious: I'd be walking on eggshells the whole trip trying to avoid ticking her off about something. Fortunately DH didn't inherit the family temper (MIL calls him her sweet child :rotfl: ).

Hey ya'll:)

We got in late last night. We took a small trip to Destin. My mom and dad's anniversary is July 3, so we usually make a small trip out of it. It was a lot of fun, but very crowded.

Sunday night, Erica started having pains in her right side and nausea. I called her pediatrician, and he reccommended bringing her to nearest emergency room (he was afraid she had the symptoms of appendicitis). Three hours later the pain got worse, then it was gone. After doing an ultrasound, it turns out it was an ovarian cyst that burst. She's fine now. I still worry about her, being that I'm a big worrywart.

Lorie, we will be taking the Carnival cruise soon with DH's family. Its the one that leaves from here and goes to Mexico. We took it last year, but this year SIL is coming. I know about the "eggshell" thing:sad2:
