I read some of the thread aloud to DH. At this point, we're laughing our heads off.

So let's see:
We all have some kind of special "mentality"

We're not resourceful and don't know how to use chainsaws. "Oh honey, if we only knew how to use chainsaws, our house would've never flooded and we would never be in this mess!"

We're all thieving looters.

We don't pay taxes. Oh wait, that was from the FEMA thread. Still a gem nonetheless.

We're all on welfare.

None of us left for the hurricane and were all the the Superdome/Convention Center.

We all got scads of money from FEMA.

We all knew exactly what would happens like days and days ahead of time.

That thread (and the FEMA one) is the biggest crock of BS I have ever read on the DIS. I've gone from offended to angry to sad to highly amused. Thanks for the entertainment!

Boy, did I pick the wrong thread to start my morning! I knew I shouldn't have opened it, but yeah, I couldn't ignore the trainwreck.

DH's firm is directly involved with the rebuilding efforts from both storms, and if these people would only know a fraction of the beaureaucratic mess he sees daily, they'd no longer question our "weak" response.

Now, on to better news.....

Northshore Lori - Fabulous news on Ashton! Honey, cry all you wanna. I was teary just reading your accounts. Of course, I'm the sappy fool that teared up in the Hallmark section picking out anniversary & Father's day cards last week.

Kathy - guess Kleenex is in order for you too. Great news about Kyle! Looks like he'll have an EA grad joining him.

No matter what, I am not going to open that thread!!!! I just get to freakin wound up.

Our friend's son, (that lived just around the corner from Lorie) now lives in Cedar Rapids. His phone has been ringing off the hook, he's becoming the local expert on how to clean up a flooded home! Now why would people ask an ignorant New Orleanian for advice? Some people have pumped out thier basements, while the water table is still high, causing thier house to collapse. Duh!

Lorie, Hope it's just the sniffles and not a full blown summer cold!

Oh Sheryl, stay far away from that mess. I think it is the worst Katrina thread yet. I had to finally put the OP on ignore before I just blew up. I can't believe the mods here would allow her to do all of that pot-stirring and spew such nastiness.

I'm afraid I'm feeling worse with a horrible headache that won't go away, a sore throat and I'm starting to sweat. Of course, paranoid me is starting to wonder if I have West Nile or some other similiar nasty disease.

Okay ladies, it's official - I have accepted the Mgr position in Jackson, MS. I will be moving to the Madison/Brandon, MS area later this year. I am excited and nervous at the same time.

I have not told DD yet; I know it will be drama.

I wanted to say how much I admire you for not stooping to the smug, judgmental, arrogant, know-it-all attitude of that idiot "Clown" on the other thread (and thankfully only a few other posters have agreed with her). You have WAY more self-restraint and discipline than me!!!

You're welcome, and in the relative scheme, your "stooping" (which it really isn't! ) is much more akin to a civilized discourse than hers. The whole thread has bothered me since it started yesterday - REALLY bothered me to the point where I've been so angry that I had to take myself out of it. Until that last little quip about "Where do you think the water in Iowa is going to GO?" Argh!! Couldn't let that one pass without comment!!

I would love to visit New Orleans and vicinity again. I was only 4 when we stopped there, and unfortunately 44 years have passed since then. I promise to make it there again someday.

You're welcome. The OP is a pretty ugly person on the inside with all of the crap she's spewing out. You're right, the conversation has degraded significantly and you just KNOW that she'll never acknowledge any wrongdoing on her part! I need to leave it alone, but it's like watching a train wreck - you can't look away!
