Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

You can use it for marinating any meat if you want that Latin taste- chicken, steak, pork chops- all taste great when grilled after marinating with mojo. Just add some black beans & rice and you've got dinner! Mojo will keep in the fridge for awhile until you make another pork roast. Depending on how big your roast and crock pot is, you may want to add more marinade than what I told you- basically, you want enough to coat the roast and have still a little pool on the bottom before you add any water.

YUM!

Im going to make this and take it to work. Sounds delish. Thanks.:)

Kathy...
I was in line at Walmart in Marrero today. The ladies in front of me were perchacing 20something ice chests. The cashier said it was for the Shaw baseball team and something about Senior Day. I said I know someone on that team and he threw a no hitter a few night ago...lol.

Good morning ladies. I hope you all had a great weekend. After the rain finished up on Saturday it turned out to be a beautiful day across the lake.

Good Morning!

I'm currently on hold with Disney to get free dining! :surfweb: We crunched the numbers every which way and figured that even if we only did 4 TS meals and the rest CS that we would still come out ahead with the free dining. I've been on hold 20 minutes so far, but I love listening to the Disney music while on hold...::MickeyMo They played the Mickey Mouse song and I nearly started crying! :lovestruc :rotfl: Wish me luck!

Morning Ladies...

Whew, we had a busy weekend. We had Gymnastics finals on Saturday and a Mother/Daughter Cruise yesterday (Girl Scouts). Man I have not had a weekend in which I have not done a thing in months! OTC.

How was everyone's weekend?

Good luck Lorie on the free dining.

Yep, we're putting together senior ice chests for the boys full of momentos and goodies they can take with them to college.....:sad1:

Saturday will be their last regular season home game and we present the boys with their stuff and the boys present the Moms with flowers. I've cried the last two years for senior day and it wasn't even my own son, imagine what I'm going to be like on Saturday.:sad2:

Good luck LORIE!!!!!!!

I am glad someone else is wishing for a weekend off....but if i had it i dont think i would know what to do with myself.

We also had a full weekend. My daughter had an archery tournament for 4H on saturday and she and her dad had another tourney on sunday.

I am very proud of her she got first, second and third in her events!

I think if it werent for archery we would be such homebodys or go stir crazy.:crazy2: :Pinkbounc

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Woo hoo, I got it! Free dining at CBR, and I added a night! They answered the call just after I finished typing my post here, so I was only on hold 20 minutes! :woohoo: I read on another thread that people were on hold for an hour to an hour and a half :scared1: so I lucked out there. Off to rethink all of my ADRs!  I may cancel Le Cellier since they changed their menu and took off my favorite appetizer and entree. Oh well, I have almost five months to overanalyze my decisions. :teacher:

Kathy that boy of yours is a cutie!!!!!

How cool is this!

Hubba Hubba!:rolleyes1

Congratulations.:)

Thank you both!!!!

Where did y'all cruise to?

Kathy - We took the cruise to no where. It was nice. :)

I understand about the mama feelings. I was so happy for DD Saturday. She completed all of the events with the best scores of the season! I was definately a proud MAMA.

Lori - Congrats to you. :dance3:

Dixie Polly - Congrats to your Daughter. :cheer2:

Ladies there is a STRONG possibility of our family moving to Jackson before the end of the year so I need advice about schools, neighborhoods, etc.

Any information you have is much appreciated.

Morning Y'all,

Whoa, did I miss a lot of chat this weekend!! I started to multi-quote & just gave up, it was just too much! Let's see if I can remember everything going on?!

dixie lolly, Welcome to our thread!!! How long have you been out in the boonies?

Kathy, How'd the chicken come out? Hugs for you  with all the Senior stuff coming at you so quickly! I would really try focusing on Disney trip planning the next few months!

Lorie, Is that the Goya Mojo that comes in the jar? (The thick paste stuff that's so dark it's almost black?) I've used that on chicken before & it's so good. I've got to try that roast it sounds so yummy! We love cuban food, my fav (so far I haven't tried your roast yet;) ) is ropa vieja. You have any more Cuban recipes you've been hiding over there? I didn't realize that your Dad was cuban. I would have been bugging you for recipes & ideas for a looong time!!! :goodvibes

Jenny, I think we were going to hold off on the meet. Just not enough of us were able to make it this weekend.

 Girls, Am I right about that?

Terry, It sure sounds like the girl scout events are much improved since my DD was in there!!! Glad you had fun. Congrats on the meet! Your daughter sounds like she's going to be quite the gymnast! Where is she going for classes? ( I know you probably told me before but my CRS has kicked in again!)
My SIL is looking into dancing classes for Alexis, I'm not happy about that & am I trying to sway her & Alexis towards gymnastics, but don't think I'm winning. You know most of the little girls take dancing & she wants to do what everyone else is doing! I can't believe that following the crowd starts so early. :sad2:

We didn't do much of anything this weekend. Sat out on the patio & enjoyed the nice weather. Watched the Hornets on tv yesterday!!! :cheer2: Went for a drive along the river road towards Waggaman & Luling sort of checking out new real estate for sale. But nothing serious. The drive was nice though.

Hope everyone has a good Monday!!

Is this a good thing for y'all? I have no info on Jackson, sorry.

The chicken rocked!!!! That's the only way I'll roast a chicken again.

If that is the Goya Mojo I was supposed to get, I got the wrong thing. I got the Mojo Criollo Marinade, can I use this Lorie?

I just got a call from the West Bank Quarterback Club (Athletic Association) and they've named Kyle the "Male Athlete of the Week/Month" not sure what he said, and he's going to be honored at the Four Columns next week.:goodvibes

Wow, I missed a lot just in the couple of hours I've been off of the computer!

Sheryl & Kathy- It is the Goya Mojo marinade in the bottle. Kathy, sounds like you got the right one. I've never used the paste, but that sounds like it would be good for grilling. As far as other Cuban recipes, nope, I don't really have others. My father was famous for roasting pork and other meats mostly. He actually had pig roasts in the backyard- an actual whole pig roasted in a dug up firepit lined with banana leaves. He passed his grilling skills on to me and I am the official grill-master in this house.

Terry- I hope the promotion works out for you! I don't know much about Jackson except that it has good museums and a restaurant that the Sweet Potato Queens frequent. I ate there once and it was really good.

Kathy- Congrats again to Kyle! :cheer2:

I am also guessing that the 12th is out?
