Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Good morning. I went back and talked to the teenager last night. Everything was smoothed over (almost) and she was going to the father/daughter thing. She was dressed and waiting for my husband. She started feeling bad about a 1/2 hour later, I guess its the stomach virus thing going around right now. We are homebound today.

Its funny, last night I was aggravated with her. When she got sick, the nurturing mother kicked in. She was my sweet girl again. Weird, huh?

Thanks, I just know that some people are avid supporters of pitt bulls and I wasn't trying to make anyone mad!.

I am not an avid pitt bull supporter:eek: ;)

Florafauna-I will be complaining about my teeangers to you all sooner than I think! I am sorry the attitude carries over into the dad/daughter dance. Can you make her??? I don't know how that mechanism works in teenagerhood.
She WILL regret it later on if she misses it, I think.

EDIT: nevermind, read the last posts-funny how things work out eh??!! I am glad about that for you and her!

I always liked those dad/daughter things in HS-thought it was sweet to see everyone with thier dads.

Lorie-thanks for the the history lesson!!! In the picture I remember I thought he may be hispanic. My DH's godchild is 1/4 black,3/4 white and I am sure a mix of other heritage. She is 12 and GORGEOUS! She is also his 2nd cousin. Sienna will have no problems that I can foresee-you will though!!!!

My dads side the family used to live on Evergreen Plantation. I don't know what we did, we could have been the slave drivers and that would be embarassing to say is part of my heritage. BUt MAYBE we cooked or somthing cool like that. All I know is that we did NOT live in the Big House. They no longer do tours there but my uncle has gotten some family in for a private tour. I have tried to no avail. What cool history field trip that would be for the kids!!

Neeeaaah, that really sounds like me when I my girl was a teenager. One minute you want to string them up & the next you've got your little girl back! Then you just want to take care of them & be a good Momma!

My DD had to have ankle surgery when she was 17, taking care of her for a couple of weeks was some of the most pleasant times I can recall of her teen years! She would actually tell me I was a Good Mom & that she appreciated that I took such good care of her!!!! :goodvibes

Congrats to the Shaw dance team!! Kyle just got a call from his "friend" Brooke who's in WDW for the National Dance Team Championship - they placed first!!:thumbsup2

Shaw is on a roll!!! :cheer2: I forgot to mention my Josh's (my SIL) 1st cousin, Alex won locallly & then took the state title in his weight class in wrestling for Shaw! :cheer2:

Hopefully baseball season will be a winner too!

How is Kyle's back?

How is Kyle's back?

Not good. I don't think he'll be able to throw tomorrow. I't's so hard to watch all the pressure the other parents put on him. Yesterday after the game at least a dozen Dads came up to him and asked if he thought he'd be able to throw. I've already gotten six calls today from "concerned" Moms.:rolleyes1 We are playing Jesuit and they just want to win no matter how much pain he is in. These tournaments don't mean a thing. When we start district play in two weeks that's when the games count.

Would that be Alex Rutledge? Kyle knows him.;) Congrats!!!:thumbsup2

Don't know if anyone knows about this, but tomorrow there is a fest in Westwego called Mo's Fest. Put on by the little pizza place that Kathy & I are always raving about. It's a benefit for Westwego Fire & Police Depts. Foret Tradition, No Idea & Bag of Donuts will be playing. It starts at 11 am, my DD heard they would also have carnival rides out there and of course there will be the famous Mo's Pizza!

Here's a link to thier very basic flyer:

We're are going to go, if the weather is good!

Hi everyone...sorry I have been out of sorts lately, not feeling myself. :sad1:

I just came back from Lowe's with the GS cookie sales. It is such a pretty day out.

How's everyone doing?

Hope all is well with you. Our house has also been infiltrated by the evil GS cookies. My cousin's DD was selling them and I bought four boxes (insert fat smilie here). It's for a good cause, right? That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! :rotfl:

Kathy, have you decided anything concrete about your trip yet? Are you still going in September? POR or POFQ?

We're salivating for another trip, we're thinking maybe in September or October depending on how things go. I would love to get a discount code like I did last year, but so far nothing. I usually get those postcards at least once or twice a year, but nada, zip, zilch this year. :headache:

Your welcome! I LOVE to blabber on about about history- DH says I would be a good tour guide. ;)

I toured Evergreen a few years ago. They don't usually do tours open to the public, but they did a special agreement with one of the touring companies here for a short time and I finally got the see it. I've always loved that house- we had to draw a plantation house for a project in 8th grade and that was the house I chose to draw! Anyways, the plantation is remarkable in that it has the most outbuildings still standing than any other in the South, so it really shows the most physical history than any of the others. It also has many slave quarter buildings still standing with a complete record of the slaves who worked at the plantation. It was educational yet horrifying to tour the slave quarter and view the records. If you ever do finally get the opportunity to tour Evergreen, go! It would be a great history lesson. I also recommend Laura Plantation if you've never been to it.

Just dropping in to say hello!! I hope you guys are having a great weekend so far. It's been really nice here, the temps and all. I am loving it.

Anyone know if it is an Irish/Scottish holiday? There is a procession of bagpipers outside my door going to town on their bagpipes. They're wearing their kilts and everything. I assume they assembled at the bar down the street and headed this way. Ah, only in New Orleans. :rotfl:

Hi Y'all,

Lorie, Blabber away, I love that stuff! Maybe it's an early St. Pat's celebration. You know how the Irish love to party! BTW, did I mention how good Raglan Road was! Surprisingly great food!

Terry, Sorry you haven't been feeling great! Hope it gets better!

It sure was a beautiful day out! We went to Mo's Fest in Westwego. It was great! We picked up my Mom & met up with DD & SIL. So that was really nice. It was so cool & breezy. With family, pizza, beer & music, I couldn't ask for a much better day!

Oh but it did get better! After we dropped Mom off, we still felt like eating. :confused3 We went to a new place on Manhattan, Parrot Pete's Coffee & Sweets. It's in that beautiful complex Bobby Guidry is building with a small lake & fountains. I think the cafe is his too. Well we had good beignets & cafe a lait, not Cafe du Monde good, but still very yummy. They had some awesome looking desserts & pastries too. They also serve breakfast & lunch. We will be back, they had shrimp & grits on the daily special board for breakfast. And they have fried green tomatoes on the menu!

Kathy, I hope Kyle is feeling okay after pitching!

Still wondering & worrying about Jenny! :sad1: I pm'd her & didn't hear back from her.

Jenny, Where are you? Hope your okay!

It must be an early St Pat's party- I googled March 1st and didn't see anything especially Irish about it. :confused3 They're really getting down out there- they've got the drums going now and some dancers doing an Irish jig too.

I was wondering about Jenny too- didn't she say they were having some computer problems? I hope that is all it is.

I've never heard of Parrot Pete's but it sounds yummy! Next time we're on the other side of the bridge we'll have to try it out!
