Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

 Sheryl, head to the doc now, listen to your momma's...I agree.

Went to the doc today for followup. Says I am doing great, no work for 2 more weeks b/c i do lots of physical labor(transporting of patients, rolling a 500# machine down carpeted hallways, helping move patients who cannot move themselves-wow , I really didn't realize how physical my job is), no bath for another week:faint: . This just put me over the edge. I bathe nightly and only take showers in hotels and on camping trips. It is my SANE:goodvibes time. I am not real happy about the work thing since he told me I could go back in a week or 2, but he thought I worked at a clinic where patients come to me and all i do is walk them to a dark room, tell them to lay down and sit to rub a transducer over their chest for 15 minutes.
Owell, my co workers are gonna be:mad: and I am sure will be concocting:stir: some poison up for me. I was scheduled the next 2 weekends-one of which is July 4th weekend.:duck: yeah, I am in trouble.:worried:

No exersize for 4 -6 weeks depending on how I feel.

My 20th reunion is Friday and Saturday. I am NOT going to the big Saturday thing as I really hated my high school years. Except for meeting my DH at 16. Oh and my FIRST ever trip to Disney. It was the school part I disliked, and some people there, not a nice place to be at the time in my life. I am hoping to go to the tour of Dominican on Friday to check out the old digs. And although I am no longer catholic, I will go to a mass for our class. Then lunch with a TRUE old friend. I am only going b/c she is!!!
The big thing is at F&M's. I think that part is a little strange. No offense if anyone on here went there or goes there and loves it. Plus it is $55 and I'd rather go on a date with DH.

If I sound bitter, I guess I am a bit. I never want to go back to those years-yuck.

Lori

I'm guessing you do ultrasounds?:)
Well forget about making your co-workers happy. Crap happens. And one thing I learned to do after Katrina was not to worry about calling in sick anymore. I'm a RRT(Registered Respiratory Therapist), who has seen co-workers so afraid to call in sick they were vomiting at work, in trash cans!
This is my huge pet peeve. We work in health care and we cant be sick or have surgery! Its nuts! I was out of work for 9 months in 2000/2001 for being in a car crash. My director used to call me weekly to ask when are you coming back. Not how are you doing, or do you need anything. They were short staffed. Guess what? Health care will always be short staffed.

So don't feel guilty about not being at work. YOU need to be healthy so when your my age you can be worn out.

Hey Y'all,

Sorry to worry everyone! But thanks for caring!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Just a little achy & sitting at the computer doesn't help. But I am feeling better today! Getting in the pool yesterday, actually helped more than taking it easy, meds & ice! Loosened everything up. I did put in a call to my new neuro, but didn't get a call back. I think I'll be fine, they are scheduling MRI's on me anyway.

Lori, Glad you're doing so well! Sorry about the baths though.

I'm sure your co-workers may be a little ticked off, but too bad, You just had MAJOR surgery, for goodness sake!! You have to do what the dr. tells you! They will manage without you!

High school reunions have never enticed me. I haven't attended even one. (and believe me there have been quite a few!) I haven't stayed close to even the "good" friends I had, & as for the rest I'm happy to never see them again. I don't know if it was because it was an all girl school, but the meanness & cattiness was so bad, I never want to relive that!

Well, I started driving yesterday with permission from my doc and I can TELL I am pushing myself. So I am slowing down. Listening to my body.:listen: ::yes::
I have brought my kids to VBS and sat a while and watched them. I think tomorrow I am going home and napping. It is just that it is 9-12, not too much time to be home before I get up again and get them. So today I gave into temptation to stay and watch. I think I feel much better than my body is on the inside, but i have no pain whatsoever, just a pulling or sore sensation every so often.

Lorie and all-I feel the same way Lorie does about my HS-some people never change and they are the ones who seem to show up at reunions. I told you where I went and appreciate that my parents put me through such a good school(it did pay off in college some, just the "name"). Since i am feeling like I am pushing it a little, I am not even going to the Friday thing. Plus, I am out of work longer and we are being bombarded financially right now.

We are being audited by the IRS for something on our 2006 taxes that was a mistake my DH made, but we owe. The good news is that we brought it to someone who helps people make sure the IRS is right OR wrong(through Turbotax) and the guy said the bad news is that we do owe, but the good news is that he found something else on it unrelated that we can get back the same amount or hopefully more. The stupid thing is that these 2 depts with the IRS are not connected so we have to set up payment schedule to owe, then get the money from the other dept, and pay the other dept we owe to on our own.:bitelip: :faint:

Plus our home is now 9 years old and things have needed fixin' and replacement-back door, attic door, front door needs refinishing(which we attempted but are not happy with the outcome). On top of that we just put out $2500 on my DH's car and my accident cost us about $1000 after all is said and done-after insurance(thank God). This all since Feb.

Okay so now I have vented EVERYTHING and I am thankful to have you to "hear" me and your love and comments and care have been sooo nice and helpful and "felt".

We are awaiting our new niece, Olivia, to be born. My SIL went in this morning for induction and at 11am she was at 8cm.

Update- Goddarn it, I have wierd news... my SIL had the baby, who is healthy, but her uterus has a hole in it and she is going directly to surgery for either a repair or a hysterectomy. I am so upset for her. Instead of holding your baby for the first time, she has to go to sugery and wil have a tougher recovery. I am so upset

Lori

Lori- I'm glad you're listening to your body and slowing down! I didn't after my c-section with DD and ended up popping a stitch, further prolonging the healing process.

Feel free to vent away because you know we're here to listen. I had a bunch of unexpected financial blows during the winter months (DH's hit-n-run accident, hot water heater replacement, computer dying) so I totally know where you're coming from. Things have eased up since then, but I keep looking over my shoulder expecting something in the house to blow up. Things have been too quiet around here. (Uh oh, did I just jinx myself? I need to go find some wood to knock on....) I hope things calm down for you too.

Congrats on your niece! :cutie:

I am a cardiac sonographer. We are part of the resp dept and my boss is an RRT. I have many RRT friends from my job! I agree with you. i shouldn't feel guilty, bt this is on top of not being able to help out a day before my surgery when they asked me to work-but I had about 4 girls coming over already scheduled. I am PRN, but work regularly. They were prolly already frowning on me. I work most days they ask me too, but with homeschooling my schedule is not very flexoble during the week. It is just me, being stupid;)

Oh we replaced that right after our Disney trip too!!!

I have no idea how to multi quote and I ahve been on here so often lately!! School is starting back up part time for us mid July, so you will hear less of me then!!:scared1:

Lori

I went to my 5-year high school reunion, skipped the tenth because I had just given birth to my daughter, and I went to the 20th. I dragged my poor husband to the twentieth, and the whole time I kept thinking I'd rather be having a nice dinner somewhere with him for the amount of $$$ we spent to be there with very LITTLE mediocre food and unlimited bar. I think its safe to say I won't be attending any more reunions.

Lori I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. Congrats on your little niece and prayers said for your SIL.

Sheryl how are you feeling today?

I didn't go to any of my High School reunions. My 5th and 10th were in the summer months and we were actually on vacation so I really didn't feel guilty not going. My 20th came and went without a second thought from me. The girls I was/am closest to in HS we still keep in touch through Christmas Cards and get together once a year and have dinner.

Mary, You're trip is coming so soon! :cool1:

Tricia, I'm feeling better! Thank goodness since the dr.'s office has not returned my calls.

Sheryl, I need to take the ticker off. I wish my trip was in front of me, but we went and came back from LA. I need to post some more pictures from our trip. I'll try to get my kids to help me tomorrow.

I wanna seee!!!!! We loved DL and wanna bring the kids there!

Sheryl, I am glad you are feeling better!

My SIL is in ICU. DB says after coming off of anesthesia, she was like, "what just happened?". She wind up needing 2 untis of blood and the baby is okay but she still hasn't held her:worried: . My DB is trying to rectify that situation and she should be holding her new baby girl in the next hour. She got to keep her uterus but if she has any more kids it will be by c-section. I think she is going to let this settle in and probably decide, sadly, to not have any more. I'd be scared of another rupture from the repaired sight. We'll see.

We were going up tonight(they live in Ascension and are in a BR hospital), but decided they need a break and some peace after a LONG day. So, we'll head up tomorrow. I cannot wait to meet my new baby niece who has already been to WDW with us in utero!!:cutie:

I am so sorry for your firiends loss. There is nothing worse. i ahve dealt with friends losing thier kids through our cancer journey with Ash. Just give her a good hug and be there. It is all you can do. Don't act like he didn't exist. Everyone handles it differently.
I will be in BR tomorrow also to meet Olivia. Her Mommy got to hold her a few hours ago!!! Everything is stable right now-thanks ya'll:hug:

Lori

Hugs to the SIL! I know what it is like not to hold my baby right away. They took Aiden and they kept him for 7 hours! He wasn't breathing right so they did all kinds of tests. They couldn't find anything wrong. My family says all he did was scream in the nursery. At the 7th hour I told Kurt to leave and if he didn't come back with my baby I was going to get him myself(still not walking after my c-section). Well he left and came back with Aiden. I still have trouble leaving him for very long...

I can't even imagine it. You're a great friend to just be there for her.

Good Morning NOLA.

We are putting Mark's SUV in the shop today to check out the brakes. He takes mine so I'm stranded for a couple of days. Today I tackle the laundry room. We have a large one that tends to be a catch all for items I don't know what to do with. I hope by lunch today it's all neat and oragnized. :thumbsup2

Morning ladies....I too had issues when DD was born. I also had a c-section so I was not able to see her for several hours. She was jaundices so they had her under the light. I do remember asking for her repeatedly.

I am in the midst of planning an Oct. trip for 8 of my cousins(female) and I to WDW, so if you had to suggest a good breakfast and dinner sit down meal what would it be? I definately want to do Ohana's for B-fast....

Have a good day!

Good morning ya'll.

Tricia, have fun organizing:goodvibes

kmores, Kathy's right--you are an excellent friend:hug:

I posted some pictures from our trip to L.A. a few pages back. Erica is still sleeping and David is playing Xbox, but later on I will be pestering them to help me post some more.

We went to the Carrie Underwood concert last night at UNO. She put on a great show!

When I had David, I held him right away. But after I had Erica, I got the "shakes" really bad. My husband held her for me to kiss, but I was shaking so much I physically could not hold her. About 8 hours later, in the middle of the night, I called the nurse to have her brought in so I could finally hold her.:cutie:

Lori, congratulations on your new niece. Welcome to the world, Olivia!
