OMG I just had the scare of my life...I picked up Kodi from the vet in which she was groomed and received about 4 booster shots. Well by the time we got home she was panting so loud, rubbing her head all over the carpet. So after picking her up and looking closer at her I realized my babies eyes were swelling and she was itching. Dang she was having an allergic reaction to the SHOTS.... I drove so fast back to the Vet where they gave her 2 shots, benadryl and something else. They are unsure of which vaccine she's allergic to because they were given together. Now her file is labeled as being allergic to these so she can receive the preventative meds before the vaccines are given or we can give them to her individually to see which she's allergic to. She's sleeping beside me now on the couch. I"M NOT LETTING HER OUT OF MY SIGHT TONIGHT!
Lori - wow that is way too much for your DH to do all by himself. I too would get rid of those Birds of Paradise.
Scary!!! I would be just like you!
We got a quote to help us get those things down and trim a LOT of other stuff. He had a hard time figuring out a price. He called me today with a quote of $900!! He said that he was tossing b/t $900 and $1300 and he went with the lower b/c we were new in the house and he knows how much that can cost. He would trim back ALL of the trees, pull up bushes around the house(African iris??) that are RIGHT up against the house-we can keep some and plant them further out. He's gonna cut back all those crepe myrtles(so they wouldn't bloom this year, but next). And take down those Bird of Paradise(which I will try to save some). There is SO much other work Paul has to deal with(and me, but while roaches are out there, I will not be) that we are considering it. We have no grass, it is all eaten up and we need to put down sod. The bugman suggested bahaia grass b/c it is easy to keep up and bugs don't like it as much. The other areas that have landscaping are so thick that we'll eventually need to take care of that too. But maybe next year. I don't see us spending much time out there until fall anyway. One thing at a time. This is gonna be much pricier than we thought. It is wierd to depend on having to pay for everything- at home we had our brothers and my dad that would come over and do it all with Paul in a heart beat. We are VERY overwhelmed.
Terry - I can imagine how scared you must have been, hope she's OK now.
I have an appt with a cardiologist two weeks from today.
Good. I still hope it is nothing worrisome and you get some peace about it. I know it is aggravating though when you KNOW you feel something and it can't be figured out
Lori- if possible, get a landscape guy to thin out the bird of paradise. Those things cost a fortune. He may be able to break up the clump and they could be used throughout your landscape. Also, it might be a nice ice breaker with the neighbors to offer them a clump. Sheryl is right- the BOP will be breathtaking when it blooms.
I know but I think they are past saving In that spot. They are pushing in on the screen and the pool guy says when they start to bloom they will rip the screen. He said the people were crazy to plant them THAT close to it. I am SURE they will be gorgeous, but they block the sun on the pool and are a HUGE mess right now.
I think taking neighbors some of the clippings is a great idea. I will ask the landscaping guy(who ALSO works as a landscaper for Disney F/T) to try to save me some IF we use him. I think we may.
Just pray our cars last another year!!!
My mawmaw is gonna go tonight or tomorrow I think. She is barely ever alone and today she was left for about an hour when she was sleeping. The nurse came in a found her on the floor by the door, alive. Semi alert, she told the nurse (after being asked why she was there) that her husband and sister(both gone already) called her. Then again, on the phone, she told my cousin repeatedly to hold on b/c they were all in her room. Her late husband, sister, daughter, cousin and aunt.
I REALLY think it is cool that they are calling her home. I hope I die peacefully, called by my loved ones, when I am old.
The girls and i packed a bag. Paul is very distraught about if he can come with us or not. I HATE leaving him here b/c he misses home just as much as the rest of us. He feels guilty, which I wish he wouldn't, and stressed over all these extra expenses. I offered to work, again, but he really wants me home- and he says Disney isn't a REAL job

if I DID go work there cuz I would run out of the door every time I had to go to work. I said all jobs should be like that. And tell the bug guy, the handyman and the landscaper that and I bet they will laugh at him. They all have side jobs which means they can't be paid all that well at Disney!
If he cannot come home, I am hoping to bring him back a king cake, some Abita Amber(found Purple Haze at World Market) and maybe even crawfish if I can. Oh and a Saints Superbowl shirt!
I hope he can swing coming though.
