Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

Hey y'all!

I survived Sesame Street! :rotfl:

:Lorie, I hope that you managed to get through Sesame Street Live. I was going to take Spencer, but decided not to when he wasn't all that excited about it. I figure the money is better spent at Disney, right?
Eh, you didn't miss much. It was cute and all, but DD was more interested in her bucket of popcorn and the light-up spinner toy we bought for her. There were kids melting down all over the place by the end of the show. Not to mention how expensive everything was adding up- parking $10, reg drink $4, popcorn $5, spinner toy $15, and on and on. It wound up being a pretty expensive outing.

Does he know how it went at this point? I hope he gets it since it sounds like this is what will be best for your family. I still can't fathom why they need him to work such long hours in his current position. I understand emergency personnel doing it, but people in retail? :confused3
They are going to let him know on his next shift Saturday night. :upsidedow I can't believe they are going to torture us for that long. The position he is in now is asst store manager, so he oversees, well, everything- hence the long hours. They lost a dept manager and the company CEO came to town to visit (so they had to get the store in perfect shape), so those two things contributed to the long hours the last few weeks. He is also on salary, so he gets no overtime for all of the extra hours worked. If he gets the position he interviewed for today, he'll be back to hourly wages, so no more overtime or crazy hours!

I also hope you don't have to go all the way to NY to pick up your money- crazy!

Hey, just getting in from Bunco. I had the most amount of losses, so I got the ****y prize tonight.:thumbsup2 The biggest loser.:lmao:

Bethany, that is crazy. I hope there's another way to get your money.

Lorie, I'm so excited for you. Your vacation sounds great.

Tricia:hug:

We went a couple of years ago with my daughter. Cute show, but honestly I don't really remember much of what happened. Hailey enjoyed it, and she got a stuffed animal and an Elmo hat that was too big for her at the time. We had a good time, but I don't feel like I need to do it again. I'm sure there will be something else to spend the money on.

Lorie - wait until Saturday? :headache: That is not fun. I had to wait 11 days from my interview until finding out when I interviewed for this job. That was just about torture. :headache:

I checked my bank account online this morning. Nothing as of yet. :scared: I'm trying not to freak out. :sad2:

Wow, I was censored. I didn't mean anything nasty by post, I promise.

I came in last place, because I had the most losses (13 losses, 5 wins) and I basically got my money back as my prize.

I was telling someone on Facebook in a chat message that I was great in response to that common "How are you?" question. This is the message I got from Facebook:

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: FINE then. I'm FINE. :confused3

 I'm sorry all these things are happening, and all at once too.

Yeah...it's been quite the year!

I'm so excited for you that you are going back to WDW...and for NINE DAYS!! :yay: I had this crazy idea to go for a weekend in March to attempt the Princess Half Marathon (YES...the emphasis is on CRAZY, NOT on "idea") but I don't think it's going to happen.

:goodvibes :grouphug:

I was reading them and was laughing so hard. The things I get excited about. :lmao:

I love powdered sugar. :rolleyes1

:bday: CARA!!! party:

(At the risk of jinxing things...) this "squall line" or whatever it's called doesn't seem as fierce as they were expecting for over here (I saw a sandbag truck earlier today :scared:) but it looked bad over by Houma....Rie'smom how's it over there for you?

Oh...I got an email from NYC and it says I WAS approved for the grant money (but it doesn't say if it's for the full amount or not :confused3) AND it says that it's supposed to be direct deposited into your bank account tomorrow...IF they have an active direct deposit information on file. I know they HAVE my direct deposit information, I just don't know if it's considered "active" enough for them. :scared: The alternative is to pick it up IN PERSON the week of October 26th. :headache: As frivolous as it sounds, I'm praying it is direct deposited tomorrow! I hope I don't have to take off work to fly up to NYC to pick up the money.

Bethany, first-FB has it out for you:laughing:

second- if I knew I was working normal hours, I would SOOOO do the Princess half marathon with you. I had a dream last night about the shoes I had to buy to train and do the marathon. I dreamt about them not being as pricey as I expected- wierdly enough, they were about half of what i expected to pay. I dreamt about the half marathon in Disney when i did it way back in '03. It was a blast. it was painful, but a blast. The walking/running part wasn't what caused pain for me- it was the party/dinner the night before, the fact we played instead of sleeping(in EPCOT), had to be up to catch the bus for 3am to get to the corral for 4am- after a lovely breakfast of a banana and a caffiene gel packet.

I knew like 2 people there so i was basically by myself and I had SO much fun! I went to DHS with a mom/daughter duo who hadn't been in 20 years. The weather was perfect and no one was there!

I think I am going to start looking for another job...... they have really cut me back. I mean a small one that won't be mad at me for moving in 2 month. I have like 10 things rolling around in my head to do- like go back to making bows, learn how to make those braided headbands and sell them- I still have all those supplies. Working at church in the nursery is an option, possibly.

Oh and, BTW- are anyone's dogs driving them nutty? Mine are nutty with all this weather change!

Lori

Hey y'all!

Mary, you bad girl- you got sensored!;):rotfl:

Lori- Hey, if you get into the bow business, I'll be a customer! I need some bows for Sienna. Since her hair is so crazy, she needs the big ol' honkin bows to stay in her hair.

We had pictures of the kids done today. Erik was cooperative and his came out so cute- big chubby smiley baby! Sienna was being a total pain though and hers came out just okay. She was being completely uncooperative. :headache: I know she can smile better and take better pictures than what she did, but she wanted no part of it. Sigh. We did get one good picture of them together, so that was a bonus.

I bet you get good news about the job front, but hoping they tell him sooner rather than have him hangin'- 'specially b/c he is there!!

I gave up on getting thier pics done(except for school and church), so now I just make 'em get all cute and we head to a pretty spot-although I haven't done it in a while. I think our Christmas pics will be off my photopass CD!

Lori

TGIF ladies....man this has been a long week.

It is soooo beautiful ouside today, too pretty to be couped up in the building.

Bethany got my fingers crossed that you'll see the money in your account.

Sheryl, Kathy....ladies how's it going? When are you returning.

Lorie - thank goodness you were able to get one good one of the two.

I am having quite the day. :headache: Nothing major, just a lot of minor things adding up to a big pain.

-The money is NOT in the account. I've tried calling them (I think 4 times now) and I'm not getting through to talk to anyone.

-My friend in Dallas and I are going to do to the Princess half marathon. (Crazy, I know.) I filled out my leave request (just for the Monday after - the race is on a Sunday) and have not yet gotten it back. I wanted to book now and I think I still might. :rolleyes1

I'll be back later. I'm going to try to call NYC again.

Hey y'all,

I'm home!:sad1: We flew in last night, it was a bumpy scary flight (for me anyway). We had such a great time, meeting some great friends, and eating & drinking, eating & drinking, etc., etc.! I've never laughed so much EVER! I'm unpacked and washing clothes, but I came home to a clean house (had the house cleaner come while we were gone) so that was very nice. We met some wonderful good people from the WFDT & we had a fun time hanging with Kathy & Johnny.

I think Kathy is coming home on Sunday, I can't wait to hear about Port.Bay!

All things food & wine were just fantastic! :goodvibes

I just read through the past few days!

Jamie & Kristina, I am truly sorry you are going through this. Please know that my heart & prayers are with you both during this difficult times! I wish I could do more.

Lorie, I hope Todd gets some good news on the interview!

Cara, A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!

Bethany, I hope that money goes into your acct. today.

Sorry, If I've missed someone!

I love powdered sugar. :rolleyes1
Me too. I use beignets as a spoon to eat the powdered sugar.

Lorie - wait until Saturday? :headache: That is not fun. I had to wait 11 days from my interview until finding out when I interviewed for this job. That was just about torture.
When I got hired by Visa International it took almost TWO MONTHS for my job offer to come through. But I knew they wanted to hire me.

It's just that they did a background check that was probably more comprehensive than a government secret clearance. I'd worked for several companies around the country so it took awhile. I understood why though - they moved over a billion dollars a night, and I had access to the computer systems.

I've had all of these dreary reports from Dad's retirement home, but here's a funny one:
There are mostly women at this place - but the men tend to stick together and eat their meals together. The table next to us (I go eat with Dad once or twice a week) has four men that I guess are about 80. They started discussing Viagra. One of them said "There's no woman pretty enough for me to want to take that stuff." I so wanted to lean over and tell them that I was listening to every word of their conversation, but I didn't.

Welcome home Sheryl.

Bethany, I hope that money goes into your acct. today.

Thank you. :goodvibes Unfortunately, it didn't, and I was not able to get in touch with the people at their office. I have no idea what will happen. If I DO have to go, I'm hoping I can wait until the week of Thanksgiving because I have three days off that they don't have.

I'm excited to hear about your trip! I'm glad you had such a great time! :goodvibes

Me too. I use beignets as a spoon to eat the powdered sugar.

:lmao::rotfl2: Beignets just rock. Best. Snack. EVER. :rotfl:

11 days felt sooooo long while I was waiting to hear back, but I know a lot of jobs make you wait even longer. Not nice. :sad2:

I am not feeling so well tonight. I hope I'm not coming down with strep throat or something. I guess I'll see what the morning brings. :scared:

Goodnight.

Gm ladies..wow it's a bit chilly this morning. I think I'll spend the day window shopping. My friend asked me to join her and her family to a hallowem party tonight so I need to find a costume.

Bethany I hope it's not Strep. Get into the dr office early though.
How is Annabelle? Yes it was me who mentioned giving Kodi chicken broth and boiled rice when she has an upset tummy.

Lorie, I remember both of my kids went through a phase where they did NOT want their picture taken. It was between 2 and 3 for both of them.

Bethany, I hope you feel better this morning.

Serena, please post pictures of your Hallween costumes. I can't wait to hear what they are.

Goodnight.

Hope you're feeling better Bethany. The throat could be from the change in weather. It happens to me all the time. The ugly weather that blows the pretty weather in brings pollen from other areas plus the rain activates molds,
so it could could be allergies.

I love beignets with just the barest sprinkling of powdered sugar.

Serena, please post pictures of your Hallween costumes. I can't wait to hear what they are.

My kids were hams. We still because if Rie sees a mirror or a camera, she has to pose.

I second Serena sharing pictures of her Halloween costumes. Also, Serena have a wonderful time at the party!!!

Mornin' y'all!

Two sick babies over here. :headache: Sienna started with the runny nose and coughing yesterday during the day, and Erik started up last night. It just seems like little colds, but still miserable nonetheless!:sad1:

DH's boss called last night- he got the job! But it feels sort of somber over here- it is a step down and a cut in pay, and I think DH has some feelings of failure because he wasn't exactly cheering after the call...he looked sort of sad. But he did get the job, so hopefully he'll be less stressed out and at home more.

Sheryl- Welcome back!

Here are yesterday's pictures!

Sienna was ok for the group shot, which they did first, but when it was time for her solo shots, she laid down on the floor and refused to get up. :sad2: The two pictures that we do have of her (the two that I posted) are the only ones she managed to take, so we didn't exactly have many to choose from.

Lorie - those pictures are adorable! Sienna looks so much like your DH, but Erik looks more like you. Both are SO cute.
I love beignets with just the barest sprinkling of powdered sugar.
So we could go together, and I could have most of your powdered sugar?

Bethany - hope you are not sick. I sometimes wake up with a sore throat but it goes away by the end of the day.

Lori, the kid's pictures are precious!!!

Tricia, you have a deal. I'm longing for a cup of Cafe du Monde coffee.

DUH for me because I missed the other info, ETA:

Lori, I hope the kids feel better soon. Congratulations to your husband!!!!
