Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Sheryl - I hope that both you and Chris are able to get some rest. Glad that Alexis is coming around.

So I am SO GLAD I'm not in NYC this year. Their crummy weather aside, I hear that the school is even MORE unorganized this year than last! My friend has a class list of 34 and she keeps getting more. They are in two different grades and they are varying levels of English proficiency; she has to teach lessons in both Spanish and English. She has no textbooks and no notebooks. She is two days into the school year and already behind on paperwork, in part because she has not yet gotten that either. She is not allowed to be in the building later than 4pm, yet is expected to get everything done. We always said we were flattered they thought we could work such miracles.

Seriously - that's insane:sad2: And I thought the schools down here were bad.:confused3

My hubby FINALLY told me today, "you know what? NOW I am excited!":rotfl:
My kids are starting to bounce of the walls for Saturday to get here already and I am exhausted and not functioning well. napped but could stayed there till morning. Paul came home early, also tired b/c he has been on my schedule too, napped and is now cutting the grass so he doesn't have to worry about THAT all week. He likes the lawn looking good-always, not just now:laughing:.

I am not even sure I am completely packed b/c I haven't looked at MY luggage since last week. I did the kids, checked and rechecked~ did Paul's on Tuesday night, with him~ need to recheck mine now!

I'll be more excited tomorrow!

Gavin, my nephew, did fine today-we did find out he is one of those kids who freaks out coming out of anasthesia(sp?)- he was screaming his cute little head off:guilty:.
Lori

Have a great trip! for your nephew - glad he's okay.

Good morning ladies!!!
It's FRIDAY!!! Tim is going to the camp with his brother, so Rie, Derwwod and I are going to Houma after school. On the theme parks board, I asked about cushy flip flops and got lots of great suggestions. Hopefully, I can find the shoes at Dillards or at another store in Houma. For some reason, probably age,:rotfl:, my knees have been hurting. Trying to keep up with 2 teen aged girls when we go to WDW, leg pain won't cut it. I wear a size 5 most of the time but shoes can fit differently therefore I don't want to order online. In case there aren't any, do y'all know where I can find Tevas in New Orleans, Metairie, the West Bank?? Thanks!

Lori - OK - so you're about the ONLY one of us who knows what day it is, and for good reason! TOMORROW is almost here! Have an awesome time.

Rie's Mom - If you don't have luck @ Dillards, try Academy. IIRC, I've seen Tevas there before. The selection might be a little limited because it's off season, but then again, you might luck into a discounted pair.
Oh,and Derwood.....:rotfl: LOVED Bewitched!

Shovan - :hug:to Chris. I've been there as well. SOOOOO frustrating when you're trying to get help, and customer service is just nowhere to be found. I've reported a receptionist at my physician's office because of her lack of compassion. I'd seriously think about voicing a complaint regarding WG's ineptitude. If anything, it would allow Chris to vent. Here's hoping all of you have a restorative, restful weekend. The rainy weekend forecast is perfect for doing just that!

Piglet - Who would've thought NOLA schools were an improvement over your old school? Well, us of course! But I'm glad you're getting proof the grass is greener here!

Try to stay dry this weekend everyone! Yep - my calendar confirms it - IT'S FRIDAY!!!

Hey y'all!

Please keep Erik in your thoughts today as he is running a fever again. Not enough to go to the doctor yet, but almost. I do not want to take him after all of the tests they had to run last time. They had to catheterize him for a urine sample, and then take several vials of blood. It was horrible....:sad1:

Sheryl- So glad that Alexis is home! And I hope she enjoys her goodies! :cutie: And you know that I'm not a fan of Walgreens after the problems that I had filling prescriptions during my pregnancy. They gave DH problems too when he went to fill my prescriptions when I got home from the hospital after having Erik (didn't want to fill the Percocet!). I guess Todd and I both look like regular junkies...:rotfl:

Julie- You must be talking about Teva Mush! I live in those all summer- they are awesome!! Actually, I have the Teva Olowahus- they are the more strappy version of the Teva Mush, and look a little more snazzy. Bethany's got a couple of pairs too, so she can vouch for me as to their greatness. Anyway, I've always bought mine online- I've never seen them locally. Maybe Massey's? I'd give them a call to see.

Lori- It's almost here! :cool1::yay::banana:

Bethany- I'm glad things are a definite improvement over here! See, we're not all that bad....;)

I hope Erik feels better:hug:.

Thanks for letting me know that you like the Tevas.
This morning I broke down and ordered the Teva Mush online in Tread Black&Neptune Lime from Zappos. They only sold them in pairs. I also ordered Sanuk Yoga Mat because I want a brown pair too.

Ms. Marigny just gave me another idea for a source for Tevas...Do y'all have a Shoe Station yet? I think there's one on the Northshore, but we have 2 in BR. The closest would be on Siegen Lane in the same shopping area as the WalMart/Lowe's/Bed Bath & Beyond.

I know they have a website that might be worth looking into. They always run a 20% coupon in the paper that should be available online, but let me know if you need the code.

OK - need to back away now....Shoe shopping will get me in TROUBLE! :upsidedow

Lorie - Hopefully E's fever is nothing serious. It's no fun when those little ones are miserable. Give him an extra cuddle for us.

TGIF Ladies. Man it is a WET :umbrella: morning.

Awe poor Eric. Could it be an earache? What are his other symptoms?

Girl Julie enjoy your weekend; I hope the rain stays away though.

Kathy are you feeling better today?

Lori, Can I stow away in your suitcase? :lmao:

Her poor Mom had reached the ragged edge yesterday & had a meltdown. She dropped off the two rx's at Walgreen's then went home to clean up. Went back to pick them up & they handed her one prescription. When she told them she dropped off two, they tried to tell her she hadn't! Well after much fussing & Chris insisting they find the other rx, they finally found it but said "Oh we can't fill this it's a compound prescription". Well by this time it's 6:00 & they tell her she'd have to go to the St Charles store. She shows up here in tears. She calls the Walgreens on St Charles & they tell her they'll have to see the prescription before they'll know if they have the medicines on hand to make it & that it would take them 24 hours to do it!!! So I finally had her call DD's best friend who's a pharmacist at Majoria. She told her that they could do it for her when they reopened in the morning. Alexis would be fine with just the one overnight. She went in this morning & had her medicine within 20 minutes!

After all she's been through that's the last thing she needed.:sad2:

My hubby FINALLY told me today, "you know what? NOW I am excited!":rotfl:
 In case I don't get back on today have a safe, great, fun-filled trip!!!!:cool1:

I'm not sure which is worse: the fact that goes on at all, or the fact that goes on and the school got a rating of A on their report card last year. :faint:

:scared1: That is downright scary!!!

Please keep Erik in your thoughts today as he is running a fever again. Not enough to go to the doctor yet, but almost.

Of course.

Thanks for all the well wishes, I'm feeling a bit better. I had pulled my back out and didn't let it get better before I went back to the gym and really messed it up. I'm taking it easy for a few days.

Just got a call from the attorney's office that is handling the closing, looks like it'll be done by Wednesday!

Awe poor Eric. Could it be an earache? What are his other symptoms?
It's weird, just like last time- he woke up extremely irritable with fever, no other symptoms. They had to run all of those tests last time because he had no symptoms and just the fever. All of those tests came back negative, so he was labeled with "just a funky virus".

He just had 3/4 of a bottle, so he's still eating, and is trying to eat his stuffed frog, so he seems a little better. I just don't want him to have to go through those tests again! :sad1:

Kathy- Glad you're feeling better. Crossing my fingers for you on the house sale!

Aww, Lorie - sorry the little man is under the weather again. I hope he gets better soon.

Kathy - glad you are feeling better and :woohoo: on the house! Can't wait to see you post that it's a done deal :cool1:

I've seen Tevas at Academy and I think Bass Pro, if that helps.

Lorie- hope it is nothing serious with Erik!

Lori - can't believe you leave TOMORROW!! lucky gal!

Kathy - excited about the house closing!

Bethany - told ya it was better here! so glad that you don't have to go through that anymore, although I know you empathize with those left behind...

and don't forget those brave folks in NYC today on 9/11 and our incredible military personnel

I had a migraine this AM - prob cause of all the rain...took meds early so feeing better now...nose has been a little stuffy

glad Alexis is feeling better and all our other gals who have been sick

anyone not going to the game want to get together and watch LSU? I love to watch just hate to watch alone...you can come over here or I can go over there...

and I forgot to post here but my REFI WENT THROUGH!!! :worship: The judge dismissed the lawsuit so they went and put it through - I sign TOMORRROW at 3pm!!! money should be here by next week or something! thanks for all your prayers!

Hey Y'all,

Alexis is doing very, very well!!! Even played outside a little yesterday evening! :goodvibes

Lorie, I'm so sorry Erik is running fever again. Even sorrier to hear they had to catheterize him last visit. I know that was just awful, I wouldn't be rushing to bring him in! Chris put up a fight when she brought Alexis in to the ER last week & they wanted to put one in just to get a clean specimen. She won too. I really hope he gets over this on his own!

Julie, I hope the shoes you ordered work for you!:wizard: I haven't found a shoe that works great for me to do WDW yet. Birkenstocks keep my plantar fasciitis away at home, but with the extra walking I get blisters or just sore feet. I wish I could wear something cushy, I've tried crocs & good running shoes but it was a no go for me.

Lori, I don''t know what went on with your nephew?! I hope he is getting well now. One more day to Disney!!! :cool1:

Kat, You're a work-out wonder! Take it easy woman! I hope your back continues to improve. I'm praying for you that the sale happens on Wednesday!

Try to stay dry everyone!:goodvibes

Yeah, woohoo!! :cool1::banana::yay: on the refinancing! I really hope this helps to relieve some of your stress!

I woke up with a killer headache as well, but since the sinus meds worked I figure its just the weather. That and the shampoo and other smelly gunk my stylist used when I got my hair cut yesterday :rotfl:

Sheryl, I'm so glad to hear Alexis continues to improve:goodvibes

Kris and Zipuzee, sorry about the headaches:hug:

Lori, have a wonderful trip. Take lots of pictures!

Lorie, I will keep little Erik in my prayers. I hope he feels better.

Kat, you are right to let your body rest for a little while. Great news about the house!

OK, I have to mention this before the moment ends, but my girls are up in Ashton's loftbed together(that is the amazing part) listening to music and chatting:eek:. it's not that they do not get along, but Ashton has been growing up so fast lately and needing her own time and space and complaining her sister doesn't give her that. But Haley just looks up to her a lot more than she will admit. Is this the Disney magic happening already?:wizard:

 In case I don't get back on today have a safe, great, fun-filled trip!!!!:cool1:

Lorie- if it makes you feel any better, i was at work today and there are funky viruses everywhere running rampant! Give that baby some extra snuggles for me

:yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo: Great news!!

feel better:hug:

Sheryl- he had adenoids and tubes and my sister was wanting me or my mom and since my mom is out of town.... but I was blessed and got to spend time with my dad, Gavin, my sister, and Gabbi- so it was great. gavin did well , except for screaming as he came down from his anesthesia high....

Kristina- I am happy it's working out for you!!

Pray for light rain b/c Haley is nervous about flying tomorrow as it is.

My friends left today and they are already past Mobile- they are taking 2 days to get there. This is their first trip to WDW!!! I think I am more excited for them:laughing:. I'd love to be a fly on Main Street on Sunday......

If i don't get back, I will take pics, chill out and enjoy this trip. It is amazing how things work out b/c I NEED it right now. I have been so wigged out- we all have. I am planning on coming home refreshed no matter how our days go!;)

Asking for prayers for my Sammie girl. She's been having an upset tummy for about a week and is now pooping blood. She's at the vet, they're running tests. We will go back at 4:30 for results.:sad1:
