Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Lorie - That is great news! :goodvibes

Julie - I do "get it" about the "just get over it" stuff. It's not always that easy. And I'm sorry to hear about your MIL. You really are going through a rough patch right now.

Julie...we are all here for you. It seems a lot of us are struggling lately with alot of things. I am glad we are all able to rely on each other for strength. :goodvibes:

Julie - Prayers and good thoughts for MIL. Call me if you need to talk. Please keep us posted.

Unfortunately, I have something else to share. On the way to Wallie World, my husband called and told me that his mother was admitted to the hospital. I brought her flowers and magazines. My DSIL told me that DMIL had a couple of dizzy spells and with the second one, her face was crawfish red. Her primary doctor gave her a once over and sent her to the hospital immediately. They weredoing an ultrasound of her heart while I was in the room with her. She was in good spirits but I could see fear too.

May I ask for more prayers? This woman is so fantastic. She's 85 and we call her the energizer bunny. For Mommie to have called and asked for help is so unusual. I was having deja vu as we have spent so much time there with DBIL and DFIL before they died. Prayerfully, she will be released tomorrow and will be ok. The odd thing is she just redid a bathroom upstairs to make it handicap accessible in case she ever needed it-I hope she won't.

Thanks again for listening:grouphug:.

I sure will be praying for her. I hope all turns/ed out ok.

The echocardiogram(ultrasound)-that is what I do. Questions about almost anything cardiology and I can help possibly explain.Just PM or call me.

Lorie-glad Erik is doing well and shots went over as good as they can.

Kathy- feel better!! Don't mess with dizzy spells, girl! (Unless of course, you already know why you are having them)

Have fun Thursday! I was thinking I could crash it, but I am working half a day-blech!

Lori

Morning y'all! Thanks so much for the support. I wish that I could put into words how much it means to me.

Tim, my husband, says thanks so much for the prayers for his mom. He appreciates y'all's support for me too.

At one point, they had to move DMIL to ICU because they couldn't get her blood pressure down but that turned around thank God. She's being moved to a regular room today. I think they'll keep her in until they get her meds straight. The doctors don't know what caused her pressure to skyrocket. I'm guessing her age -85- might be a factor. She has been so healthy to this point. Lorie, we haven't heard (or at least I haven't yet) about the EKG results. Thanks for the offer of help on this!

I can't believe that school starts on Friday. Rie is a sophomore! It seems like yesterday that we picked her up from the nurse that worked with the adoption lawyer. She and I are going for manicures and pedicures today.

Talk to y'all later. :grouphug:

Julie ~ Hope you & Rie have a great day together and keeping my fingers crossed that Tim's Mom gets released soon!:goodvibes

the search option on the Dis really blows now. I put in DDP and i get all types of PTRs and stuff i didn't have in mind. It was better when it was the puppy dog-even though it took longer..............anyway.............

I have a question about DDP maybe you can help me with. Well, maybe 2.

Are appetizers on it for each person,or at all, or has that been nixed? It has on the brochure that only kids 3-9 get apps-that doesn't make sense to me and i could be reading it wrong.

I am just trying to figure out how much i should set aside each time for tips. And what we can get without spending more $$ than planned. I mean, if we each get an app and dessert, I cannot ever see using Haley's TS option! So that can't be correct. Or if SHE gets an app, and an antree, well that seems kooky also. We NEVER eat app, entree, dessert. It is usually shared app then entree and we are full. Or no app and we get dessert!

I was thinking $17-20 for each sit down meal as a tip since each meal seems to be around $90-110. We will be paying cash for the tips as I do not like the option for it to be on my card. I printed up my mousekeeping and server envelopes and am filling them! Since we are former "servers"at decent places, we tend to tip 20% and if service is horrible, we do 15%. If it downright  we do 10%-but I think in the 23 years I have been with DH, that has happened once. they still work for tips only.

We also decided to get a towncar. After reading a lot about ME, and we are going on a Sat-Sat, Paul was ALL for the towncar! We are using Tiffany town cars. Have you heard of them? It was $105 online with a 30 minute stop to a grocery. So, I have his tip ready too~:cool1:

It is HARD to keep this and i wonder if they have a clue, b/c if they do, they are being very good about it and not saying a thing. Ash still seems truly upset when we DO talk about our "getaway". We'll see!

Lori, Bob was on the phone for adr's on Sat. He was discussing the DDP with the CM. We had assumed that appetizers were still included but that changed this year. No apptz on the regular dining plan.

What have you been reading about ME? We are planning on using them in Oct.

I wonder if Ashton is pulling one over on you guys?

So I got to meet Jenn today! :goodvibes I saw her at the Aquarium.

Then Cara and I went to Cafe du Monde, the pottery place to get our plates, Target, the Huey P. Long Bridge , and the store that has uniform shirts for my school because staff has to wear school shirts on Fridays.

So a good and productive day! :thumbsup2

Hey Y'all,
Lazy day here.

Well, I read it was fine, just to expect to wait a bit, or have along ride if you are at the value resorts, which we are. they pick up 4 resorts or so at a time, so if you are last, just expect a wait. While all that is fine with us, it also mentioned being worse on Sat-Sat and Sun-Sun trips, which we also are doing. You know with homeschooling, I could have done that, but for some reason I guess my mind don't work that way!! We have always gone on a weekend day as the 1st day, except once, it was a Friday. Anyway, it said that weekends are worse. So, as my hubby travels/ed a good bit, and he is not a good "waiter", he just about jumped on the town car thing when i told him about it. When he has been in NYC , a town car gets him from airport to hotel-through the job of course. But he takes the el in Chicago, so i don't get the excitement over it. he just must like it. And he also thought it would be cool since it will all be new with the kids.

And on that subject, Ash very well could be pulling one- she has definitely got some of her daddy's sarcastic disposition and a great sense of humor-so she may be biding her time and giving me trouble for fun. The one I really think could suspect it is Haley though, b/c she is just going with the flow, not ONE word about being upset. So, I'll let you know!!

Today I did more about the trip than any other day. This is when it is gonna be hard with them supposedly not knowing. I wanna start packing!!!

37 days!

We decided on a towncar this year too. It began with the fact that we end our trip at US/IOA and there would be no return trip available to us, but when I found out we could get a towncar with a 30 minute grocery stop and not have to wait for our luggage to arrive at the resort, it was a no-brainer.

Sheryl - We've never had any problems with ME at all and we've used it the last three years. The only inconveniences for us were having to wait up to three hours for our luggage to arrive at our resort and on the return trip you need to be ready to spend close to three hours at the airport for your return flight, they get you out to the airport way to early.

Bethany - So glad you got to meet Jen!!!!

I'm sorry you're feeling so crummy. I hope you get some answers through all this testing they're doing and you can get some relief! And soon!

Sheryl and Lori - I have used DME multiple times, and it's always worked out but not without some glitches. I was going to say there was only one incident but actually I guess I've had minor problems every time. :confused3

June 2005 - My family used them for the first time. It was new, and had a lot of glitches. We had to get our own luggage, and I it seemed confusing.

August 2007 - I used them on a solo trip to Caribbean Beach Resort. The wait was not long, and CBR was the first resort my bus stopped at. Incidentally, the driver called out "Caribbean Beach Club" and this confused the heck out of some people...they didn't know if we were at CBR or the Yacht Club/Beach Club. :rotfl: I found this mildly amusing, but I KNEW the different resorts so it was not an issue for me, but I felt bad that some newbies were confused. And I clarified for them so they didn't miss their stop.

December 2008 - I used them to and from French Quarter. Getting TO POFQ was not an issue. It was really late at night (2 am or something) and I think we stopped somewhere else first; I don't remember. The problem was going BACK to the airport. We had a 4:20pm time to be picked up, but the bus NEVER came! :confused3 Three or four DME buses came to drop people off, but none of them could pick us up because of the routes they are on. Finally, the 4:40 bus came and we all - the 4:20 AND 4:40 pick up times - had to get on. Then, we made stops at 2 or 3 other resorts. Some people were getting dangerously close to missing their flights. :scared1: The luggage room at FQ is right next to the DME bus stop, and THEY were very good about calling DME and trying to get them to send buses but no luck. :sad2:

If you DO take DME - try to sit near the front of the bus. This way, you'll be one of the first ones off at your stop. This is important because when the DME bus pulls up, a LOT of people suddenly get in line to check in.

Julie, I'm hoping your MIL will continue to improve & get sent home soon!

Kristina, I'm sorry you are feeling so bad! I pray the dr can get it all figured out. :flower3:

Thanks, Lori, Kat & Bethany for the feedback on ME! We wouldn't be able to do the towncar, we need the lift for Bob. Mears does have a lift van that charges $25 each way but they don't guarantee times or that you will be the only stop. ( it was 25 a few yrs back, it's probably more now) I think I'll make a call to check it out, it might be worthwhile for the trip back to the airport. It kills me to lose DW time sitting in the airport.

Bethany, I'm glad you were able to meet Jenny!
