Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

lori - I think that house looks really nice. It's got an interesting interior, lots of windows, great outside area...I can totally see you making a real "home" there. From the map it looks like a small area near a highway. It's probably a little drive away from "main" areas - kind of reminds me of St. Bernard that way. :goodvibes Small area hopefully means you'll get to know all your neighbors. Of course you'll have to see it in person, but it's bound to be an easier search than when I was looking at gutted houses...I had to imagine the houses with walls! :headache::sad2:

thanks-we LOVED that neighborhood wehn we were there a couple months back- we drove through it 3 times. I like this this particular home is across from green space. Lots of it.

Here is the community-it is a master planned one like the Woodlands, or Celebration-but newer than the Woodlands, and less pricey and much less CUTE than Celebration-but all the same ideas-there are many highly rated schools(we will still homeschool, but for the kids in the neighborhood), pools, green space, groceries, etc, all in the area- I do know there is an outlet mall right on the outskirts. So, I keep looking for homes in this community.

BTW-the shower stuff fifn't work the miracles I expected, but it did a pretty darn good job of breaking through most of it.

Lori, That house is really nice and at a good price! Just remember the better the schools the higher the taxes.

Lori, glad you got the toliets taken care of, and at least most of the shower... when I lived in FL we had well water. Never again. It turned everything orange, but the Works for Hard Water works really well, no scrubbing. The water there smells so bad and taste worse. If you triedthe water at Disney, it is off like that, only much stronger. Lori, I know your water is better than that...

I think my husband has gone off the deep end. Today he decided that after we get back from Disney, we will start saving up for a cruise. Who is this man? Not that we have never talked about this, but it has been many many years ago. I should remind ppl here that we met working on ships, and he was in the main lounge orchestra. Once we got off, he didn't touch his horn for 12 years and any talk of a cruise was met with the evil eye... Now he wants back into the music business and to go on a cruise???

Sheryl, hope that your recovery is going well!

Hey y'all, don't be worried if I'm not around much this entire week. My employee has been off since last Thursday and was to return on Wednesday of this week. She just called and circumstances beyond her control may cause her to be out all this week, which means I'll be working all week alone which will carry through the weekend and early next week.:scared1:

Bethany, we may have to re-schedule our bean cooking, I'll know more by the weekend.;)

get this. this is the 6:30 am phone call last Friday, it is very confusing so i'm sure we will pass. it seems like SHE is offering bond for deed FOR someone else. Kinda wierd. I am calling the FSBO agents tomorrow to find out more.

You needed a filter, it seems. No our water is fine, other than some metals that like to stick-but it has been tested about 3 times in the past 10 years and it is ok. I will probably have to get it done again soon for the sale of the house- if it comes! WE were told if we had a yellow tinge to our clothese that we needed a filter- and never have. We have a very deep well. I believe it is 300 feet instead of the "norm" of 75 feet.

Maybe he is midlife crisis-ing! Have fun with it!! If my hubby ever says that i am SO on it! "course, you may be a good bit younger than that!

Our well was 250 feet deep and filters and salt were replaced weekly it was that bad. (Central Florida, but more beach side where there is a ton of sulphur) It was just really really bad water (high sulphur content). We bought drinking and cooking water from the store and just used the well for washing clothes and bathing

Maybe.. I am on it too!

that is bad well water. I guess if near a beach area- you NEED city sewer and water.

I love my well water. it tastes good and is always cold coming out of the faucet. Great in summer. When we had a pool, it was freezing when we first filled it! had a to wait a couple sunny days before it was really comfy.

Plus I have NO water or sewage bill. Treatments systems have thier benefits too. Just empty it every 5 years or so. The water coming out is "supposed " to be clean and even drinkable- but i would never test that!

On a septic note: ;)If you have never been to the Mandeville water works -it is an AWESOME field trip. Mandeville has the 1st of it's type of mass waste treatment facilities- and it is all natural. I know it sounds gross, but at the end of the road, we tested the water in a bunch of spots, and it was all clean and clear of bacteria, etc. It was one of the best field trips we have been on.

We have Gabbi till Thursday!!!

Good Morning NOLA.

Yesterday we had to get Kendall out of the dorms by 7 AM. SLU is only about 45 minutes away so we left at 6:00. Her squad did really good. They came home with four 1st place tropheys. :cheer2:

This morning she has an ortho appointment then my dad is having surgery on his hand. That hospital is only about fifteen minutes away from the Dentist so we'll head over and sit with my mom when she's done.

This morning I'm trying to play catch up with my laundry. Just one day of not doing any and my laundry baskets are full. Empty laundry baskets make me happy. :goodvibes

GM gang.

Man morning got here way too fast.

Congrats to Kendall. Prayers being said for your dad as well.

Good morning!

Bethany, we may have to re-schedule our bean cooking, I'll know more by the weekend.;)

Okay...if it gets rescheduled too much later, we won't get to do it on a Monday. (gasp!) I do have to start working at some point.

Speaking of the weekend...on the 26th we are going to go paint pottery at 1pm. I will PM the people that I think are going. If you are planning to go and don't get a PM from me, please PM me. I called to reserve a table for us, and so I want to make sure the numbers are accurate. :thumbsup2

The canvas painting date is sold out, so no more people can go that day. :sad1: If it goes well, we'll probably do another one later in a few months or so.

That email was a scam, but we are not surprised!

Heading to Houston next week-gonna see if I can get the assigned real estate agent to show us that house. You know, just in case it doesn't sell anytime soon.:lmao:B/c I like it from afar. and you know, Murphy's law.applies to us.

Hey Y'all,

I've had a nice day today. I think it's that I feltl good enough to realize I don't have to do anything!:cool1: I sat outside & read ALL day!!! Then I came in & took a bath with some fancy bath stuff DD gave me!

Tricia, Congrats to Kendall's team! Prayers for your Dad! :flower3:

Bethany, If y'all don't plan the painting & pottery again (when I can go) I'm going to be mad, mad! ;)

Good Morning NOLA.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers for my dad. The surgery went well but took a little longer than expected. He went home yesterday afternoon and my mom said he was still pretty medicated so he wasn't feeling any pain.

I've got the Geek Squad coming out this morning to hopefully fix all my computer issues. Somewhere between 8:00 and 12:00 so I'm really hoping it's closer to 8 AM so I can run some much needed errands.

ETA~Sheryl I'm so glad you are starting to feel better.

Sheryl, glad you are feeling better! Sounds like a wonderful day yesterday.

Heading to Lakeside with the girls today to meet with my mom. She brings them once a year to go shopping shopping, like at a mall, b/c I hate it and she loves it. It is her way of spending time with them since she works so often and doesn't see them regularly.
And I love it b/c they come home with clothes! Plus, this year, Ashton has been saving some extra on the side for this day. So, I am secretly even more excited b/c it will help me out with clothes for our WDW trip!

The freezer in my garage died or the switch flipped or something and it is stinking up everything-DH is wanting to throw it out and I was for saving it(there was not a lot in it). But today it is so bad:eek:,and we cannot get to it with all the garage sale stuff in there, that I am letting him have his way:rolleyes:.

Now we have smell to contend with- yuck!

Have a great day you all and I'll talk at ya later!

Lori
