Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Good thing the MaiTai's were good, the food was Ok at best.

Lori - The age thing must be true with the mammogram, the last two that I had were not painful at all. So there is a bright side to menopause!

Hoping your girl is feeling better today!:goodvibes

Busy, busy weekend here...bbl.....

Hi gang.....I've been cleaning like crazy today...man it's amazing how much dust gets in your house and how much stuff you can accumulate. :scared1:

Lexapro is calling- the call is getting louder and louder! If my DH is cool with it, i am calling my doc for some. I figure a years worth will work!!

Lori

Girl it works like a charm for me! :thumbsup2

Good thing the MaiTai's were good, the food was Ok at best.

Awe sorry to hear the food was just blah..

Hey y'all,

Just hanging around today, taking it easy.

shovan-GREAT news! Now, don't mess it up by getting too eager & trying to push yourself. Keep up the hard work of taking it easy! I really do hope the aide situation gets worked out. Both of you need the helping hands.

Oh, I do get how you feel about being able to do your own hair. That's one thing that would drive me bananas. I usually don't feel 100% myself if I've not been able to take care of showering & washing my hair.

At the risk of jinxing myself, it looks to be a quiet weekend here. Not much on the agenda other than trying to finish up shopping for the last bits of school supplies.

I'm behaving myself! I glad to hear I'm not nutjob over my hair. DD told me I was vain! I'm sorry but when I look yucky it makes me feel even worse!

Hope you get your quiet weekend!

Shovan - good for you....pls take it easy though. Don't go getting all independent. LOL

Well I finished dd's school supply and uniform shopping today. I am officially broke. :rolleyes1 At least til next Friday.

Kathy have one of those for me too girl. ;)

I can't believe it's back to school shopping already! Where did the summer go. :confused3

Mai Tai sounds really good about now.

I have been MIA except for the 15 minutes here and there that i check email, FB and Did- and this is my only thread I check and post on. Every so often I check out this funny guys PTR.

OMG- I had my 1st mammogram today- I think they were trying to get my rib cage in there too(ouch)- so it hurt more than i though considering everyone tells you that it is MUCH better than it used to be. I have a decent pain tolerance, or so i thought. The tech said it hurst more on "younger" gals b/c breast tissue is more dense. Whatever. I felt like I needed to make sure they were still connected to me afterward. Thank God for a bra- i really will bring a sport bra next time!!:lmao:It'll smoosh them suckers closer to me after the next one. If I didn't have saggy ones before, i sure think the mammogram never helped that out much!

That happened before the work craziness, where i was supposed to be.

DD11 woke up nauseated and started throwing up constantly, all day. Emetrol didn't work so we called the doc tonight for some good ole phenergan suppositories-poor baby. I would tell you more about the following conversation, but I am thinking the Dis will kick me off;).

She has been sick 2x now in 2 weeks! My nerves are shot.

I got my steam cleaner yesterday! Amazon, free shipping, no tax- got it 3 days after ordering. Used it today and wow! my house is gross:laughing:. So in between work, no work, mammogram, back to work, home, trips to the bathroom with DD11, steam cleaning carpet, and trying to live normal life- I didn;t even realize that 3 friends called and i was on my last leg, so i called no one back.

Lexapro is calling- the call is getting louder and louder! If my DH is cool with it, i am calling my doc for some. I figure a years worth will work!!

Lori

Whoa girl! That does sound crazy! I don't know about lexapro but you definitely need some umbrella drinks!

I hope Ashton feels better soon! I understand about getting that phenergan supp. nothing works as well!

I guess there is something good about getting old! My last few mammograms have been totally painless!

Kat, Sorry the food wasn't as good as the drink!

I see our new Mommy hasn't been on in a while, I'll have to go hunt her down on FB to make sure everything is AOK.

Have a good weekend friends!

Hey y'all!

I'm sorry I've been MIA- I just couldn't keep up with this thread, so I had to step away for awhile. Things have been as hectic as ever over here!

Erik was such a good sleeper and now all that has changed, and I'm going crazy! He was napping well and I had him sleeping some long stretches at night, and then that all changed a few days ago. Now I can hardly get him to sleep at all! :guilty: On a good note though, his digestive issues seem to be improving somewhat. I don't know if his system is maturing a bit like the dr said it would, or if it is the changes I have done (switching to a "gentle" formula, finding a less gassy bottle that he did well with, keeping him upright after feedings), but it is so nice to not be spit up on all of the time and not have to deal with explosive diapers. He is still very gassy though and I think he is bit colicky (lots of fussing and crying in the evenings).

Sienna has been having improvements with the potty training, but it is still touch and go. I'll think she's got it, then she'll have a series of accidents. But it does seem like we are getting there, thank goodness! She has been very clingy though, and I'm sure that has to do with me ALWAYS holding Erik now that he's been very fussy and not sleeping well. My MIL said she wants to start taking her once a week and for the occasional weekend which is a GREAT thing for all of us!

I think it would be impossible for me to catch up on everything at this point, so I hope everyone is doing well and  for anyone that needs them!

Lorie- sounds like a growth spurt to me. I sorta remember they go through them at 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 months or something like that-it could a been 3's though. Anyway give it 3 days and I wonder if he gets back on schedule. JMHO.

I was going to say the same thing, let's hope we're right. Hugs and good thoughts for you my friend. I do miss you.

Morning Y'all,

Lorie, We don't expect you to keep up! I do look for updates on those 2 beautiful kids of your's! and I worry about you!

I'm sorry that Erik is sleeping as well. I have no advice my DD gave me such a time, Alexis slept like ... well she "slept like a baby". That's a cliche is really a misnomer isn't it?

I overdid it on Friday, so I wasn't feeling as good yesterday. I'm going to try to get to church & then we'll see how the rest of the day goes.

Have a good one friends!

Hello, friends:hug:

Sheryl- take it easy chicadee! It is amazing how little one can do after surgery to wear oneself out. So, listen to your body and relax.

Getting ready to head to Houston in the morning. Washington Mutual is turning into Chase in Houston, so Paul had to be there bright and early Monday morning. It'll be our 1st drive in, just me and the 3 girls(DN7:goodvibes with us too). We'll see how I handle it.

My unofficial plan is to drive 3 hours, stop and eat and stretch, then do the last 3 hours. I am not a fan of driving distances, but am determined to do this one myself for future reference. I am sure the trip will be filled with Hannah Montana tunes-at least THAT won't put me to sleep:eek:. I am thinking of an audiobook too-but at least the drive isn't half as boring as going to Dallas. I can handle the driving as long as it is in shorter spurts. So it doesn't feel so long!

Any suggestions of a place to stop somewhere around Lake Charles-a place that is close to the interstate. I am just thinking Cracker Barrell, but if there is a cool place to see on a short visit, I am game.

Lori

Lori, I went to church & was hoping to go out to lunch after. I decided to listen to my wiser friends on my shoulder & come home. I walked in the house & almost immediately got bummed out. So my Dear Bob is going pick up my anti-depressant now! Alexis! I've really missed her all week, so we'll eat leftovers & hang with my girl this afternoon.

Be careful driving to Houston. I can't recall the names right now, but there are a couple of seafood rests. right off of the hiway in Lake Charles. I'll ask Bob if he remembers when he gets back.

Painting was fun today! Glad I finally got to meet some of you. Can't wait to see pics of all the plates when they are done.

Drive safe!

I have Washington Mutual. The New York accounts are supposed to become Chase accounts tomorrow. This means I can go to the Chase bank here and access my account! (Or so I was told....I'd have nationwide Chase access to my account on 7/27). So tomorrow I'm going to go to the bank and see if they were telling me the truth! Never have I been so excited to go to the bank, but when you haven't had access to it for a month... :upsidedow

:goodvibes I'm glad I got to meet you and I had a good time painting too! ....except for that brief moment when I was trying to choose paint colors and the power went out. :rotfl: My FIRST power outage in NOLA! :rotfl2: (Although I'm sure not the last...:headache:)

I know...I am looking forward to seeing what the stuff looks like when it's done. They all looked so good already. :thumbsup2

Sheryl - I'm glad to hear you're getting better every day. Just keep relaxing!

Mary - How are you feeling?

Lorie - I'm glad to see your posts again! I only have 2 weeks left before work :scared:, so if you still wanted to do lunch, PM me a date that works for you!

Kathy - I'm so excited for you that you have a closing date! I really think this is going to be the one that goes through. The whole story of a chance encounter with an old friend who does the house flipping thing is just too bizarre to not work out! Did you get your new phones yet? When are you going to the supermarket again? :rolleyes1

It was wonderful to meet you today... I am so glad you were able to make it! Your painting is amazing by the way... so creative.

Sheryl... it is really hard to be practically homebound! I hope that you are able to feel more like yourself soon. The rest is really good for you to help you recover so try to roll with it, okay

Lori.. good plan, 3 hours break 3 more hours. Have a safe trip to Houston! Hope that it is a very informative trip that helps bring you peace.

I had a really fun day painting pottery. I am sorry we missed those not able to come. I was surprised at how relaxing it was.

Lori, Bob is thinking it was something like Pappadeaux's ??? :confused3 But he's not positive.

How was the painting class? Y'all have do give ups more details like pictures please!

Does anyone want to go to again? I REALLY want to try that painting class! I also broke my only large ceramic platter & would like to go make another.

It was fun....this one is not a class. You just choose what you want to paint then are free to paint. They give you a plate that has the colors on it and you tell them what you want. Kristina and Serena had one of the ladies there sketch some stuff on their plates and they painted it in - REALLY cool. Jamie is an artist in her own right and freehanded hers! I do have photos...I'll get those up in a few minutes.

And YES I want to go again! Like Cara said, it was very relaxing and fun at the same time. I did a plate and it was $26 after tax - not bad considering you get to keep the plate, get to make a mess in THEIR studio, use THEIR materials, THEY fire it, AND you get a good time for a few hours!

So I'm trying to get up at 6 this week and next WITHOUT going back to sleep during the day so I'll be ready for work. :rolleyes1

Okay, I got the photos uploaded. Keep in mind they are haven't been fired yet.

Also, we were going to have the lady at the place take a photo of US but we forgot! :headache:
