Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

So, you all KNOW my favorite animals are alligators....

I think I have found the PERFECT job for me! :rolleyes1

Tour Guides are expected to be animated and entertaining for the full length of a 1 hr tour. They must be strong enough to catch and hold on to a 4 ft alligator weighing about 20 lbs for 15 minutes. They do not need any knowledge of the alligator or any experience in catching them as this will all be taught. A tour guide cannot be shy and reserved. Though these traits will endear you to the owner, they will not work well in front of a group of as many as 60 people.

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Watch your tour guide hop into a pen of gators and carefully catch one. He may then look to you for help taping that gators mouth so that he can't bite anyone. Once taped, you'll be able to see the alligators ears and peer through his clear third eyelid and maybe see him walk, run or spank you with his tail.

:lmao: Must. visit. Insta-Gator Ranch. :lmao:

She is soooo pretty-gorgeous eyes. I am so happy to see prom dresses going back to a normal prom dress... style wise! So pretty on the Lakefront!

Lorie- about the hubby. I ahve no good ideas about that. I see your point-sorry!
I was a wierdo when I was prego- I LIKED people/friends to rub my belly!
But people can be rude, too.

Lori

mornin!!

Happy Palm Sunday, right??!!

Everyone must be having fun since no one has posted...

we had fun at BREC last night-it was partly cloudy but we got to see the moon up close and personal and Saturn!! Rings and 3 of its moons and all!!! It looked JUST like Saturn, but white and oh so cool and 3 MOONS- how cool is that. Then it got cloudy. If we lived closer, we'd be there like every clear Saturday night. They can focus on planets well and see them pretty clearly at certain times of the year. I am PSYCHED to go back. We had a short window of time for Saturn due to the clouds, then it completely clouded over and we went home after a fire and marshmallows.

You BR area fold HAVE to go try this place out. Family nights are every clear Saturday night!

Lori

Morning all!

Kinda foggy and a bit dreary here this am.. but I see the sun peaking through woo hoo.
I bought herbs plants yesterday, tired of buying them in the store so Ive decided to just grow them. Planting them is on my to do list today.

Sheryl, How is Angelina doing? I swear every time I see her name I want to start saying Angelina Ballerina lol.

Tricia how was Kelsie's prom?

Okay so I go out of town for 2 weeks and when I get back I can't find ya'll! Now I have to go read the 20 new pages.

I was in DC. I got to eat in the Senate dining room. I'd been there once before in 1969 when a college friend had an internship with a Senator from Texas. I saw Cao of New Orleans. He introduced himself (at a group function) by saying he was the shortest member of Congress. Good sense of humor.

It was tons of fun. I got to go to this high dollar ($5000/couple) black tie event - because a very sweet congressman gave us the tickets. I am not even in his district and can't even vote for him.

My dad took a bad fall the night before I got back - but fortunately only skinned up his elbow. The "I've fallen and I can't get up" button did its job. My sister and 3 big firemen were able to get him back to bed at 3 am.

Have you ever gone up to the wrong car in a parking lot? I've owned 3 Honda's and have many times gone up to a car just like mine and wondered why the keys didn't work.

Well my poor dad got tired in the grocery store so left to go sit back down in the car while my sister checked out. This sweet little lady had just unlocked her car to get in when he jumped in the passenger seat. I guess she thought she was being carjacked by an 88 year old man. She was really very nice about it all.

Fog and a bit dreary describes my head this morning. Why is it when the weather begins to get beautiful, allergies flare?

How is Angelina??

I hope Kelsie had a fabulous memorable time!!!!

2 days, I am so jealous!!:)

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!

Good Morning NOLA.

Thank you all for the kind words about Kelsie. They had a great time, said they danced all night then they all came back to our house around midnight for breakfast. Mark and I made bacon and eggs, sausage, grits, biscuits and cinnamon rolls. We also had fresh fruit, donuts and juices or coffee. It was so nice to see them all so excited. I have to say that I'm glad it's over because it was rather stressful. Not the breakfast but the getting ready for prom itself.

Tricia II I'm glad your day is ok. That's so scary when they fall.

I think we have some of Bethany's weather down south today. It's cold on the North Shore.

Morning all.. what is up with the cold weather UGHH!
I had the cutest outfit picked out for Jack's field trip today and now I have to pick something else out LOL!!

Tricia II.. so glad your Daddy is ok. Thank goodness for that call system !
I did have to laugh at the thought of an 88 yr old man car jacking a honda ; ).

Off to Global wildlife today, super excited, we have never gone before.

Morning everyone! What's with the cold snap?? Got to move the tomatoes tonight... they're predicting a light freeze!

Lori- Sounds like the observatory was fun. I'll definitely have to pay closer attention to the details next time the weather looks like it'll cooperate. My boys would love this!

Sheryl - How did the weekend go? Hope Angelina is being a good patient and recovery is going well.

GW - The prom pics were gorgeous! Love the idea of using the lakefront for a backdrop. You're a great mom for hosting the after-party breakfast (even if the idea was to keep an eye on the kiddos ;))!

We were out in Biloxi on Saturday (took the kids to Keesler for the air show) and saw a few prom groups out and about. I had forgotten it was prom season already.

Lorie - I got a chuckle out of Bethany's idea.... Nagin vs. Mickey. I mean, really, that argument should be enough! Here's a  for the frustration.

Good morning NOLA!

Don't forget the Regis & Kelly show is airing from NOLA this week!!!!

Good morning!

I saw a 43 for YOUR low tonight and I think we might be warmer?!? At least you are supposed to be in 80s later this week. I would be miffed if it was cold lol. I've had enough of that! At least it is not snowing like in Chicago! Ewww!

I got next to nothing done all weekend and am beating myself up over it, but I think I just needed a lazy weekend for once. Besides. I was sick from asthma most of yesterday so I had to take it easy, right?

More later. Just found out I have a meeting. I need a time machine!

Good morning.

My son, David had Lacrosse games this weekend. First one was on Saturday in Shreveport, second one was Sunday in Baton Rouge. They lost the first game and won the second. What a weekend.

Yesterday, sitting on the metal bleechers, I felt like I was frying. Today it is cold outside.:confused3 You gotta love the weather here.:rotfl:

Morning Y'all!

Thanks again for all the well wishes & prayers for DD! She is doing very well, she doesn't think so, but she is. ;) We spent most of our weekend on a search for a battery for my drill. Just to drill holes in those light plant pots, ended up buying a new drill. :headache:

Hey y'all!

No Easter menu here as DH is working....:guilty:. I'm so tired of him working each and every holiday...

I'm starting to get the slightly annoying pregnancy comments now, like "oh, you've just got a few weeks left, right?" ...

To add to my grumpiness, DH got ANOTHER traffic camera ticket!

Lorie, I'm sorry Todd has to work every holiday.

I want to say just ignore the stupid people, but I know that's much easier said than done.

I think you should have Todd at least right out the check ( or hit enter however you pay your bills). He needs to see the damage he is doing to your budget! Maybe even make him pay all the bills during the month he got the ticket. Let him figure out how to juggle all of the bill paying for a while.

Hi all. Just getting back from the lake front and taking tons of pictures. Here's one of Kelsie and her date.
IMG_9625.jpg
[/IMG]

Tricia, Thanks for posting the pics! Kelsie looks so pretty! Really a beautiful girl! I LOVE her dress!! It's nice to see all the girls in pretty dresses again! Great idea taking their pics at the lakefront. I also noticed some of the boys are wearing thier hair longer. Reminiscent of my prom days oh so long ago.

Her dress is really pretty and her hair looks fantastic! Poor Mariah hated the way the salon fixed her hair and re-did it herself after driving thru Mickey D's and someone asking her if she was trying out for Shirley Temple...:scared1:

I have a pic of Kyle but won't have pics of them together until later in the week.:guilty: They will be on facebook soon, I guess.

Kat, I really doubt that Mariah could ever look bad! Can't wait to see the pics!

So I was looking at apartments online today and was getting generally overwhelmed/irritated/frustrated/feeling stupid...so I gave up.

Then I looked at apartments here in NYC. OMG that put things back into perspective REALLY quickly! $7,995... $10,830....$10,078....:scared1:
And that was searching "max rent $1500". :headache: Something is wrong with their search feature, so I looked at another site. Only THREE places came up for under $1500/month, and they are not even in the state. They are in New Jersey. :sad2:

I'm sorry you are feeling so frustrated. I wish I could help!

Morning all!

Sheryl, How is Angelina doing? I swear every time I see her name I want to start saying Angelina Ballerina lol.

I bought more herbs this weekend. I plant them in pots & keep them on the patio. I love cooking with fresh herbs & don't like paying for them either.

The Angelina Ballerina books came out when Angelina was little, she loved them!

I was in DC. I got to eat in the Senate dining room. I'd been there once before in 1969 when a college friend had an internship with a Senator from Texas. I saw Cao of New Orleans. He introduced himself (at a group function) by saying he was the shortest member of Congress. Good sense of humor.

Tricia, I'm glad your Dad is okay! That is too funny, I'm glad the lady wasn't scared & didn't scare your Dad.

Lucky lucky you!:wizard: That sounds wonderful. You have to tell us more about what a $5000 event is like!

I hope there isn't a game tonight! Then your bootie would be freezing on those bleechers.;)

Hi gang.

Wow those prom pics are very nice. Glad they had fun.

Tricia, I too am so glad your Daddy is ok.

Man it is way cold!!!

We had a very busy weekend. Saturday went to the Strawberry fest and yesterday we went to Ursuline's fund raiser and school play (Wizard of Oz). Man that play was good!

I am so tired but have to continue my running around for Easter goodies.

So what is the final word on our meeting up on Monday?

Hey y'all!
I'm so not liking this cold weather! :cold:

Sheryl- I'm glad Angelina is improving! And I do like your idea with dealing with DH. And, as Bethany pointed out, I hate that this money is going to the City of New Orleans because I have no faith that it is going to the greater good- rather, it is probably just going to end up in someone's pockets. :headache:

Tricia- I'm glad that your dad is ok. I also had to laugh about the 88 year old car-jacker - could you imagine the headline on Headline News? :rotfl:

We went to a petting zoo event at Whole Foods yesterday. It was the same petting zoo company that was at a birthday party we went to two years ago, so it was the same animals. So, I think this is pretty cool- DD took a picture with the same tortoise that she took a picture with two years ago:

Look at how much bigger she is! And, a little FYI, the dress she was wearing yesterday is a Gymboree re-release of the same one she wore two years ago (the style is a little different)- what a coincidence!

I will have to check this place out this summer with the boys, it sounds wonderful... to bad I can plan way in advance, I am going to have to be ready to go once I am sure it is going to be a clear Saturday...

LOL at your poor dad, he must have wondered what was going on for a minute... glad he wasn't too hurt in the fall... we had to get a button for our 94 year old grandmother after she fell and wasn't found for hours... (she lives alone, and was unhurt, she just couldn't get up)

This weather is CRAZY, would have been nicer yesterday though... Congrats to David on his win...

OH don't even mention Gymboree... my sister is so addicted, I think my neice owns every line since Sept (when she was born)... I promised her one full outfit and $150 later:scared1: we left Gymboree...

Sienna is so beautiful, and it is so cool to see how she has grown...

Speaking of camera tickets... we just got one from the Crecent City Connection from SEPT 2007 last week. What is worse, we always go pay our dollar when it happens, and that time, Sean was skeptical because they claimed the van was linked to the toll tag account so we were fine, after months went by, we figured maybe she knew what she was talking about, but a year and a half later? AHHHHH

Sheryl: Glad Angelina is doing better!

Tricia: Kelsie looked beautiful

Cajunmommy: take care of those tomatoes...

Bethany: Relax, close your eyes and the week will be over...:woohoo:

Lorie - It's amazing the huge difference! She went from a baby to a beautiful little girl, um, tell her I said "big" girl!:goodvibes

Do we have any plans set for Monday?:confused3

Sheryl, you might be able to help me.

I don't know what is happening Saturday or Monday. I posted a few pages ago tentative plans but have not seen anything beyond that.

Portocall- I want to just sleep. I only got about 3 hours last night. You all know how vivid my funny dreams are. The nightmares are unreal!
I am starting to get sick. This is NOT GOOD!

Oh, I love Gymboree, but I always buy it on ebay or on clearance- I can't afford it at regular retail price!

And that is CRAZY about the ticket- Sept 2007?!! Really though, nothing should surprise us anymore...

I know, I just can't believe how bigger she is! Or rather, I can't imagine her that small!

I don't know, are there any plans for Monday? It seems like the plans just got confusing...
