Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Hey y'all, Wow it's taking me forever to keep up on the WFDT & on here too. We all talk too much!

Of course I won't be offended, I know how the F&W event scheduling messes with everything. Don't forget I'll be dropping off a bottle of Rosa to be chilled in your frig.:goodvibes If nothing else we'll be at the BC for Brenda's shindig with y'all!

Kat, I hope we can work out something better than just that one big get together. I'd really like to have dinner or at least drinks with you & Johnny. I can't remember do we have WFD girls going still or did they all change dates? And if Tricia decides to meet us ;)

IMy kids are now Nano-fied! I may never hear from them again! They saved for months and finally were able to get an Ipod nano. I downloaded some songs for them and heeeheeee, I am gonna use these things to my benefit by adding school stuff to it next school year! I have been reading some boards about how homeschool moms are using ipods to thier advantage:thumbsup2

Now I am the only one in my family w/out some sort of ipod:eek:-but I am VERY happy with my ZenVplus. PLus IF my hubby winds up with an iPhone, I will snag his iTouch!

Haley is actually loving the peter Pan soundtrack above all the other stuff she has on there- she just told me it makes her wanna go back to WDW!!

I cannot book ADR's till June 13th I think. I will book them! I wanna be prepared even if it has to be cancelled.;) I have high hopes!

Lori, You lost me with all of that stuff. I have an Iphone, and I know what an ipod is but the itouch & zenvplus?? :confused3 I know I'm old!

Thanks - I'll keep those dates in mind.

I took a young friend to W&F a few years ago just after she was diagnosed with MS. Her mother (my age) and another friend of mine went too.

None of them wanted to eat anything but "normal" food - like chicken nuggets at the American Pavillion. :confused3 I just kept reminding myself that the trip was not about me - I could go some other time - as I passed up all the great food offerings. We did have a great time though.

Ugh, I would not have been so nice about that.

Just in case anybody missed my other thread. This is me as a bridesmaid (in Monroe, LA) in the mid 70s.

OMGoodness! That is some outfit! Even for the 70's she really outdid herself! I got married in 76, my bridesmaid wore wide southern belle dresses & large floppy hats.:confused3 I'll have to go find a picture, scan & post it!

I think you can buy a car no matter what license you have. :confused3

NO idea about the meat-sounds, ummm..... yum.:rolleyes1 My hubby likes Hog head cheese??? But if it is cheese actually, I have NO idea.

OK, get ready to LYAO....:lmao::rotfl:

They (job) called to say we'd get all the offer and details tomorrow...:lmao:........um.....................:scared:

Don't hold your breath!
Lori

I can't believe your able to laugh about this job stuff!

Bethany, Do not go buy Hog's Head Cheese instead of Boar's Head! :rotfl2: Definitely not the same thing!

Bethany, I haven't talked with Angelina today. ( Other than texted thanks for the Happy B-Day text I sent her.) I sure hope they didn't have a miserable time! So far she isn't raving about anything except a desert pic she sent me from Aquavit restaurant. I'm guessing that's where the hairstylist took them.

Jenny, I'm glad you're Mom & Dad are doing better!

Lorie, How are you doing? Gotta keep an eye on you, now that you're getting nearing the finish line! Is your closet finished yet? What about the nursery is that all done? I know you probably mentioned it while I was MIA, how did you decorate the room?

Hi ladies.

Had another LATE night studying and reading with DD. We were up until 130 this morning. Yea I know that's crazy. :sad2:The child will probably fall asleep on her desk. Just so ready for school to end.:rolleyes1

That's horrible! Poor Mom and DD.

We still have Maria and Gretchen who will be there. We'll have to make some plans after the F&W schedule comes out.:goodvibes

Oh yeah, we can have to get together with them! :cool1:

okay gals!!!

He got a job offer-in freakin' Houston! We have not accepted yet b/c $$ talk is still on the table. They will move us, but not buy our home. They asked if we think it would be possible to move within a year. Then she asked for 6 months-so he told her sometimes within the next year. They want him there, but he can work from here till then. She is fighting for him to get a higher salary and some extra to help move us there quicker.... we'll see.

We are heading to Destin tomorrow after testing and need this break BADLY!:upsidedow

Thank you for all your prayers and hugs and keep us there till everything is squared away.

I am just happy to stay for another year!(or whatever)

While I am not happy about moving, God has a plan.
Hey doesn't SWA have a hub there and can i get good deals to Orlando???

We are going to try to live on the east or northeast side of Houston so drives home are quicker.

Homeschool options are AMAZING there-even sports teams and stuff solely for homeschoolers-they play private schools.

Lori

That is great news, Lori.

Even though it requires a move, you are lucky your husband wants to take care of you. I have the complete opposite in Tony. Money is rapidly dwindling. I've explained I can't count how many times that I don't make enough to support two people, but he's been out of work since 2/08!! :headache: He won't cook. Which wastes money on fast food. Which means I get fatter and waste money on clothes cause I just can't fit in them anymore. He won't clean out the fridge, so you can't go in there for leftovers b/c there's no telling how old something is. More waste. He whines b/c I don't do any housework...Well, YEAH, why should I be the husband AND the wife? Guess what, bucko, you don't want to work? You gotta clean the house. But obviously you can't handle that, so now you HAVE to get a job....sorry guys, I am just SO stressed out. I'm cheap! I don't spend money. I have basic cable, internet and netflix. Those are my "splurge" expenses. Everything else is legitimate bills. I can't figure out where the money is going. :confused3

Disney was paid in full the day I booked it or that would be the first thing going. I can't pound into his head how serious it is. He has NO concept of the big picture, responsibility or budgeting. :confused3

Hey y'all!

Lori- I'm glad you finally got some news, even if it is the news you really didn't want. I really hope there is still some way y'all can stay here. But, if it is meant to be, it is meant to be. This trip to Destin couldn't have come at a better time huh? At least you'll have some quiet time to relax and think things through.

Lorie, How are you doing? Gotta keep an eye on you, now that you're getting nearing the finish line! Is your closet finished yet? What about the nursery is that all done? I know you probably mentioned it while I was MIA, how did you decorate the room?
Okay, so let me preface my answer by saying I'm grumpy today , so this is a big ol' vent. I went to a dr appt today, and my regular OB wasn't available, so I had to see the NP. No biggie, I've seen the NP before, no problem with that. But, I measured big again today, so I told the NP that my dr said if I'm still measuring big this week that she wanted to check the baby's weight by ultrasound. The NP can't do that (my regular dr always checked weight and position of the baby by ultrasound herself) and said I'd have to schedule it with the ultrasound dr, whose earliest available appt is the week that I am due. Yeah, that doesn't help much if we are determining whether or not to take the baby earlier because of size. So they said they could get me in May 19 at the absolute earliest, which is still cutting it close. I also found out that my dr is going out of town from May 21-25, which is really making me nervous if I go into labor early (I really don't want to have a c-section with a dr I don't know). So basically, I still don't know when I'm supposed to have this baby :confused3, but I don't think I'm going to hold out until June 3rd- I look and feel like I'm going to explode right now! I have another appt with my regular OB late next week, so maybe she can do an ultrasound then herself (I hope) and we can get a final date!

The closet is moving along and is supposed to be finished Thursday, but I really don't see it being finished then. The molding, baseboards, shelving, rod and painting still has to happen. Which is the second part of my grumpiness- my bedroom is in a shambles while the closet is being built. The nursery is connected to my bedroom and is also a mess because a lot of my bedroom furniture has been moved in there while the closet is being built. I can't do anything to the nursery until the closet is finished and it is now covered in drywall dust (as is mybedroom- yuck!). I feel like my nest has been contaminated! I just feel overwhelmed right now because now I have to basically sterilize the nursery because of the drywall mess and get everything together and time is running out!

Like I said, I'm grumpy..sorry for the vent! :guilty:

Lorie- hang in there, it's almost over! I want to do the hug smiley (my phone keeps trying to put gig amulet for that?) but I'm on my phone and can't remember the code to put the pic.

Lori- that is great news about the job. I know it wasn't your first choice location, but I can tell you are already sounding a bit more positive about it. And I'll have to come visit you if I ever make it out to Ikea!

Jamie- again I wish I had not forgotten the hug smiley. You sound like you need one.

Jamie - I apologize if you've already mentioned it but what kind of work does Tony do? I can't even begin to imagine your frustration. Isn't he bored? I admire you for hanging in there this long.

Lorie - Lost of  for you sweetie. Good thing you'll see your doc next week and get some answers, try and hang in there. Wish I were closer I'd come over and give you a big old hug.

Jamie- Hugs for you too, sounds like you need them . I know I've posted here before about wanting to smack my DH upside the head (or something along those lines...), feel free to vent!

Lorie - Lost of  for you sweetie. Good thing you'll see your doc next week and get some answers, try and hang in there. Wish I were closer I'd come over and give you a big old hug.
Thanks Kathy, I need them today! There are other things going on too, not big things, but I'll spare ya'll any more of my whining. But DH did just email me that he got into a physical altercation with a shoplifting customer at work. I really worry about him at his job because there really are some sickos out in the general public.

Lori:cool1::banana::yay::woohoo::dance3::thumbsup2 PHEW!!!! At least now you know! Keep up your good attitude! And like Bethany said... maybe we will come out that way and give you a visit.

Lorie:  what is it with these Drs. picking the perfect time to go on vacation???? It doesn't take much to get a very pregnant woman going. I hope that your DH is okay, what an eventful day at work for him.

But DH did just email me that he got into a physical altercation with a shoplifting customer at work. I really worry about him at his job because there really are some sickos out in the general public.

Just what you need, something else to worry about. Hopefully he won't be too upset when he gets home.

I know! My dr was going on and on about scheduling the c-section earlier because the baby is big, she doesn't think I'll last until June, yada yada... and then her nurse calls me to reschedule an appt because she's going out of town- WTH?? :headache:

Just what you need, something else to worry about. Hopefully he won't be too upset when he gets home.
He's been telling me that the numbers of shoplifters, freeloaders, and just plain crazy people have just skyrocketed lately at the store. He has a story almost every day when he comes home now. He said that not only are the numbers way up, but that people are way more bold and brazen about it too. I wonder why this is- economy? Major Katrina PTSD (I think it is a bit late for that though...)? Just a moral decline in society in general?

lori, I'm glad that the offer finally came through! I hope the money does too!

Jamie, :hug::hug:

Lorie, I'm so sorry about the NP, that really stinks! I am also really sorry about the mess in the house! Drywall dust is the worst! Sounds like you really are stressed out & at the end of your rope. I wish I could help, all I can say is I'm praying & sending good thoughts. Remember this too shall pass.

glad you can see the silver lining in the clouds....and there ARE a lot of SW flights straight to MCO....cause they go from NO to Houston (6 hours WEST) then go to Orlando (6 hours EAST over NO then another 12 hours EAST driving?!??!) so guess we need to get some playdates in this summer. but you will always be one of us no matter where you live....and hte homeschool opportunities sound great! I have a friend who lives in Spring TX...she is a teacher.

That is great news, Lori.

hugs....I got one of those too. he works but it isn't consistent. it is very frustrating. and he becomes "friends" with his clients then feels bad about making them pay on time. I have to pay my bills and none of them cares that we can't make the lights or the mortgage or car note. sigh. I have a budget thing and if you need help or need to talk just let me know!

:hug:to you my friend...i feel your pain as well. DH does clean and cook occasionnaly. Lately he has been in a real funk tho. I am sorry he can not find a job but DARN must everyone suffer for it....he doesn't want to do anything or go anywhere. I am a talkative person and of course he isnt so that has been another issue.

hugs....I got one of those too. he works but it isn't consistent. it is very frustrating. and he becomes "friends" with his clients then feels bad about making them pay on time. Ditto!

thanks.

Jamie - I apologize if you've already mentioned it but what kind of work does Tony do? I can't even begin to imagine your frustration. Isn't he bored? I admire you for hanging in there this long.

His last job was working in my hospital in the kennel (b/c we needed someone and he wasn't employed at the time), but he was fired for slacking off. He'd get talked to, do really well for a while, and then get lazy again. :sad2: He's done roofing way back when, and some sheetrocking and general construction sporadically. After the kennel work, he took a class (>$1000!) to be certified to operate and train to operate forklifts, but he hasn't done anything with it yet. I guess he's bored, and probably depressed. I'm supposed to have 3 days off, but I volunteered to work most Sundays...when I DO have Sun, Mon and Tues off, by Tues night I am ready to get back to work. I don't know how he can stand it. :confused3 Sometimes I just don't know if I'm being strong or stupid. :sad2::confused3

I know! My dr was going on and on about scheduling the c-section earlier because the baby is big, she doesn't think I'll last until June, yada yada... and then her nurse calls me to reschedule an appt because she's going out of town- WTH?? :headache:

That's terrible. Really. For people who are supposed to devote their lives to helping others, I find human doctors to be the most self-centered people. Can't ever talk to them, or get answers, or see them. And always out of town. My boss (the vet) is in constant contact with our ill patients' owners. To the point of insanity sometimes. :rolleyes1 But she is a VERY special and caring person.

I think it's a little bit of all of them. We are noticing at work the clients in general are more difficult, complaining about the bill, refusing treatments, or just won't bring their pet in and want a phone diagnosis. Um, no. On a side note, I really do think my cat Jezzie has PTSD. I took a class entirely on stress and trauma. She was found as a stray in St. Bernard a couple weeks after Katrina. We don't know how she survived, but she was very skinny.

Okay, so let me preface my answer by saying I'm grumpy today , so this is a big ol' vent.

I like vents. Make me feel like my life is normal! :rotfl:

...The NP can't do that ...I'd have to schedule it with the ultrasound dr, whose earliest available appt is the week that I am due. ... they could get me in May 19 at the absolute earliest...I still don't know when I'm supposed to have this baby :...I have another appt with my regular OB late next week, so maybe she can do an ultrasound then herself (I hope) and we can get a final date!

Bad time for a joke? Two patients go in to see the doctor. Jake gets blood drawn, chemistry results, radiographs taken, diagnosis made, doctor consult and prescription meds to go home with and take that night. John see the doctor for three minutes, waits a week for blood work results, waits a month to have x-rays taken, and another two weeks for the doctor to read them. What's the difference? Jake is a dog; John is a man.

I feel like my nest has been contaminated! I just feel overwhelmed right now because now I have to basically sterilize the nursery because of the drywall mess and get everything together and time is running out!

:scared1:I can't imagine how unsettling this is for you. I am one that likes to have everything laid out and prepared just so with plenty of time to spare. Try not to stress too much. :scared:

Jamie- Hugs for you too, sounds like you need them . I know I've posted here before about wanting to smack my DH upside the head (or something along those lines...), feel free to vent!

Thanks. I run at a pretty high anxiety level normally, so even little things really test me, but I am new to this home-owning thing and finances are truly freaking me out.

Thanks Kathy, I need them today! There are other things going on too, not big things, but I'll spare ya'll any more of my whining. But DH did just email me that he got into a physical altercation with a shoplifting customer at work. I really worry about him at his job because there really are some sickos out in the general public.

Hmmm, what kind of cake is best for de-stressing? We need about 10 of them.

Thanks. Appreciate it.

hugs....I got one of those too. he works but it isn't consistent. it is very frustrating. ... I have a budget thing and if you need help or need to talk just let me know!

That is what is SO frustrating. He CAN do well, but is inconsistent. Then he doesn't work for while, gets mopey, and ends up right back where he started. :headache:

:hug:to you my friend...i feel your pain as well. DH does clean and cook occasionnaly. Lately he has been in a real funk tho. I am sorry he can not find a job but DARN must everyone suffer for it....he doesn't want to do anything or go anywhere. I am a talkative person and of course he isnt so that has been another issue.

This is him. He likes to rant about how he does SO much, but if you look around the house, you sure can't tell. He DOES do SOME, but sure not what it should look like with someone who stays home all day...I know moms with kids and jobs who manage to do alot more in their day on top of the things he's supposed to do and can't seem to get accomplished. :confused3

Thanks for the support everybody. Today was bill paying day, so I got even more extra anxious...didn't help that he wan't even AWAKE yet at 2pm for me to commiserate with. I will be working on Saturday at noon, so ya'll better eat an extra big slice of chocolate cake for me!
