I am assuming you are on Central being near Chicago. For you, there will be some from 1-3AM, but after 3AM will be when you will have better luck. That is the time we cross the band in our hemisphere. There are supposed to be a couple dozen an hour. People over in Australia, China, etc. are supposed to get two bands at the same time and can expect hundreds an hour.

not typically, the skies been really clear for about a week but today is totally typical and nothing but clouds
