DS is turning 9 during our trip and has been asking for a metal detector for the past year. Any idea if he would be allowed to use it at Castaway Cay or if he would even be allowed to board with it?
Thanks in advance . . .

You may want to call DCL directly and ask the question...I haven't seen anyone post a question about taking metal detectors...

When you find out, will you post their reply? I gave DH a metal detector one year for his Bday and he has yet to use it. If he could take it on the trip he'd have a ball!

From my TA (THANKS SUE!!!):

Hey you -- you win the prize for the "best" question of the day! I had to call on this one -- even though I was sure of the answer. No metal detectors are allowed on board any Disney cruise ship. Since anything that would be found would belong to the island people, it is not appropriate. Castaway Cay is owned by Disney, therefore they own EVERYTHING! Even whatever is under ground.

I kind of figured that might have been the response you would get. You aren't allowed to take shells or sand off the island. Oh well, maybe it could be a suprise birthday gift when you return home...
