We were boogying on out of MK tonight after Wishes to catch the bus to OKW and came upon two very nice ladies. We asked them while in line if they had ever eaten at Olivias before and what their opinion of it was. They highly recommended it.

Well I became intrigued by these two. I guess them to be mid 60s. They were sisters to my understanding and talked about their Dad being in his 80s yrs ago and still commando touring WDW. Up at 6am, go til the park closes. I remember those days oh to well. Thank goodness for DVC!

Anyway, I asked if they were DVCers and they said yes. They further explained that they and their Dad were the SECOND folks to buy into DVC.

I felt like I was talking with DVC history.

We met members #1 on our January cruise. Its amazing to meet people who had the foresight to buy in so early.

Great story! I'm always excited to meet DVCers (especially outside of WDW). I'm still waiting to meet a DISer while at WDW.

That is a great story ! It is so much fun to chat with folks in line at WDW. We talked with a couple once who had just done a cruise. Guess were we're going??

Wish I'd been one of the early ones! I always passed by OKW thinking, "Gosh! I can't afford that!" without even doing the research. I'm so slow at catching on sometimes, but I'm really glad that we joined!!

One other thing I forgot to mention...one of the ladies made the comment about how Disney was losing money on them now. Their point being when Disney was giving them park tickets for those first years, plus how many trips they have made staying for basically nothing.

It was kinda cute the way they said it anyway. I asked them if they posted here on the DIS and unfortunately they had never heard of it before, but maybe(fingers crossed) they will find it and reveal all they know about DVC history.

A few years ago at OKW a man tapped me on the shoulder in the General Store, and said "I don't know if you remember me". Well, of course I did, it was one of the very kind salespeople from one of our local Disney Stores who had always been so helpful to me when shopping for items for my DD's wedding - talk about a "Small World" (he,he)!!!!!princess:

Right after taking the DVC tour in 2000, DH and I went to the MK to watch the evening parade and fireworks. Sat next to an elderly lady from New York who had been a DVC member since about the beginning. She was there with her sister and other family. DH and I had said that before we committed to buying into DVC, we would like to visit with someone who was a member. (At that time, we hadn't found DIS). She was really the one who talked us into buying. Answered alot of our questions that we had after talking with our guide. Her positive experience helped convince DH to purchase. At the time, we thought how odd it was to be seated next to a DVC member when we had just left the models and was thinking about buying.

Then, watching the same parade a year later, we also sat next to a young family who were members. So I guess it wasn't that odd after all. They're everywhere!!!!
